Re: [slim] Radio stations don't get updated
Thank you for all the valuable suggestions to take advantage of the squeezebox. I have been thinking about the raspberry pi. I emailed the radio station (vip-radios.fm) and asked if there was a http url link that I could use. It turns out simply dropping the "s" is the solution. I assume other radio stations probably also keep their older links alive while providing the https to TuneIn. I will certainly try if I face the same issue again. BTW. I clicked the "access your favorite streams as OPML" at the bottom of the "favorites" tab on mysqueezebox.com. Now I can only see the OPML links. I can still add new favorite http links but they will show as OPML below. Is there a way to go back and show all links as URLs? It will be easier to see the https links I put in previously and use "edit" to change them to "http" and see what will happen. verycd's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=49940 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114874 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I have no idea why it works since mySB.com is not supposed to support https. I find some with https radio stations work and others don't. No Spotify involved so the cause is a mystery. Indeed, for my use, a retired phone on a stand probably serves > better because it will play all stations. you have been given good advice from the senior "go to" :) members here, but perhaps I can fill a couple gaps. In my mind "mysqueezebox.com" was developed for "out of the box" operation of the sb devices. However, the functionality is dwarfed by LMS, even early on. When logitech dropped the line, mysqueezebox development was dropped, while it remains alive (as was mentioned) thanks to logitech for legacy functionality. So when stations started migrating to https, mysqueezebox got less and less useful. mysqueezebox has other deficiencies that have developed over time. I understand your "play music with the computer off", as I used to run LMS on a windows machine, and every time I turned the computer off, I said "hey! what happened to the music??!!" :) As @slarti mentioned, using a raspberry pi as an "always on", low cost (<$50USD), low power server gives you what you are looking for including ALOT more. I chose to go the picoreplayer route, which is popular here, but there are others. Your touch is still a nice piece of kit, throw $50 at it for a cute litte rpi server, and if you choose to, add storage (local, network, etc) to add your library. You won't regret it. Think of it as an "add on" for your touch to play https if you like. There are alot of "how to" threads here we can point you to... The "computer" required to run LMS is similar to a media streamer such as AppleTV, a FireTV or Roku and with a Touch will generally offer better experience (i.e. audio quality, program info such a track artist, bio, covers) than a modern internet radio or repurposed phone. The same LMS can be used to additionally play audio to other devices you may have such as Airplay or UPNP speakers. Unlike a contemporary iPhone / Android, the Touch has a good resale value so do not junk the Touch. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114874 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

The Touch is about 10 years old and Logitech stopped development for Squeezboxes about 10 years ago as well. Logitech maintains the mysqueezbox.com server as a service to existing users. The https protocols required by the station are not implemented by the Touch because they were not developed 10 years ago. You need a local LMS to implement the https protocols. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114874 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Radio stations don't get updated
The default radio station database used by LMS is provided by TuneIn (used to be called RadioTime). Updates that are made by TuneIn are used automatically by LMS. So the first place to check is tunein.com to see if it is working there. If it is not then ... you could try to raise an issue with them. There are other radio station data providers ... you do not say which ones are being used by your other systems. However, radio.net is another one and, as mentioned earlier in this thread is available as a plugin to LMS and has the station that you want - provided you are using a local LMS and not relying only on using mysqueezebox.com One reason for using LMS is that some stations have moved from using http to using https and this is not supported by a Touch working with mysqueezebox.com. However, it is supported if you are using a local LMS because the local LMS acts like a proxy and converts the https to http for relaying to the local Squeezebox player. Re: [slim] Radio stations don't get updated
Logitech left the squeezebox universe years ago all maintenance has been done by volunteers for years now, and it's a better product than it ever was so give them the credit they deserve. Most streaming services do not work automatically in the software, you have to do something, you have to do some diggig around, do that and you will be pleasantly surprised or else stick to your phone and app if that works better for you.
