Re: [slim] Upgrade Firmware on SB2 without Remote
TiredLegs;527780 Wrote: As suggested here (http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/logitech_en_amr.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=5955p_created=1168468260), you could try a hard reset by holding down the ADD (+) button on the remote while plugging in the Squeezebox power. Depending on how your Harmony remote works, the ADD button might produce an IR pulse that does the trick without needing the continual stream of the Brightness button. (You might have experiment with exactly when to press the ADD button.) The moment you see the Logitech logo (or on old firmware it's the Slim Devices logo) that's when you can single press the ADD button to perform a factory reset when it's powering on. -- Devans . . [slim] Delays in e-mail support response time
Please accept my apologies to anyone who has suffered long delays lately after contacting Logitech Support via e-mail. We've been going through some transitions within our support organization and have run into unexpected problems resulting in a poor customer experience. See this note from Pat Brubeck, our VP of WorldwIde Quality and Customer Care... What is Going On? An Insiders View As many of you have noticed, we've been having some real challenges providing our normal levels of customer service during the past few weeks. We've had unexpectedly long call-waiting times, as well as issues with both the availability and the response time of our e-mail system. We have also been experiencing some startup issues with our new Customer Care Web site. As a Logitech customer, this is not the support experience you deserve. As the vice president of Customer Care, I want to personally apologize for our recent poor service. How did we get here? As we continued to grow and add more product lines, it became clear that we had to make some fundamental changes in our Customer Care operations. This decision required us to develop new processes, implement new systems and to engage with new partners. Unfortunately, as recent events have demonstrated, this transition has not been as seamless as we had hoped. We understand how frustrating this is, but we need to ask for your continued patience. We know there are still issues with call times, e-mail responses and the new Web site. We are working around the clock to add support capacity and resolve the remaining technical issues as fast as we can. Pat Brubeck Vice President, WorldwIde Quality and Customer Care We are working diligently to correct these issues and return to the response times that our customers expect. Thank you for your patience and understanding. -- Devans . . Dan Evans . Customer Support Manager . Re: [slim] Worst customer service ever!
Altec;473133 Wrote: Does anyone from Logitech ever read these threads? Yes we do, and often. First, Altec, let me apologize for the dreadful treatment you received at the hands of Logitech Support. That is so far from the experience we aim for it's hardly worth comparing. You were the victim of some of a number of transitions and changes Logitech Support is going through. And please note: I offer that as an explanation, not an excuse. Please feel free to PM me privately and I'll work with you to resolve this. Bear in mind I'm in California though, so there may be some delay. Alternatively, I can also get you in touch with European level 2 support. I will also alert our European supervisors of this incident. They take this sort of thing very seriously, as do I. -- -- Devans . . Dan Evans . Customer Support Manager . Re: [slim] Help! A second hand Squeezebox v3
FYI, that is a difference between the SB3 remote and the SB Boom remote. The SB Boom remote cannot repeat button presses the same way the old remote did. Therefore, pressing and holding ADD does not work. In that case, you need to time your pressing ADD with the Logitech logo appearing on the display. That will successfully reset the device to factory defaults. -- Devans . . Daniel Evans . Product Support Supervisor . I'm more than happy to be a lab rat for any testing if that will help. Hi there. I'm pleased to see this getting discussed here. These kinds of issues are precisely what we need to hear about when people run into them. Just to let you know, our QA department is investigating these reports but so far has not been able to reproduce them. That may mean we simply need more information from those that are seeing this. A couple things maybe you can tell us: * When you set the Controller down and it loses connection (blue wifi icon) is it going to sleep and waking up? Or is this happening in its charging cradle? * Is the server being shut down and then restarted at a later time? Or is the server going to sleep/hibernate? * When you upgraded to 7.0.1, did you install on top of 7.0, or did you do a clean install after removing 7.0? Let us know. My SB2 is now working perfectly wireless so I know it is the SB3. I have had it for 1.5 years which is out of the warranty range. They say they will fix it for $90 which is not really good enough for me. This thing should not fail this easy. Any charges more then shipping and they have lost a customer and a HUGE advocate for these things. I have told pretty much everyone who will listen about them and to buy the SB over other media servers. We will see. sts9fan, The warranty on a Squeezebox 3 is 2 years. I'm not sure who you spoke to in Support, but I checked and there is no ticket created for this incident. (unless you gave a different e-mail address) Provided the failure was not from a drop on the floor, or a lightning strike during a picnic, we should be able fix your player under warranty. It's all in the details, of course. Please contact Support again either via phone or e-mail and we'll help you sort this out. [slim] Slimserver Problems running on Windows Vista
Some users are reporting problems getting Slimserver to run properly (or at all) under the recent Windows Vista commercial releases. Our preliminary tests on the Vista Beta revealed only minor problems with the installer interacting with Vista's firewall. (namely, it no longer opens the ports we request for connecting the player) Now that Microsoft's new flagship operating system is officially released, we're getting reports of two distinct problems and have opened bugs for each: 1. Slimserver runs successfully, but the web interface won't open in a web browser. http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=4748 2. Slimserver fails to start at all. http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=4747 If you are having problems with Vista, can you please post here and/or to the appropriate bug entry and tell us: * What version of Vista are you running? (Home Premium, Ultimate, etc.) Also specify if it's 32-bit or 64-bit. * What version of Slimserver have you installed? * What error messages are you getting? (if any) * What additional Security software are you using? (Firewalls, Antivirus, etc.) * What happens if you try running Slim.exe manually from a DOS prompt? (Cut and paste any errors.) We are investigating the isssues here and will provide either a patch or solution instructions when we have them. First we need to reproduce the symptoms here though. Thank you for providing details and thank you for your patience with this issue. -- -- Devans Daniel Evans - Slim Devices Technical Support [EMAIL PROTECTED] - +1.650.210.9400 ext. 3 Devans's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4873 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=32578 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Re: Strange problem (since upgrading?)
The screen going blank is behavior indicative of the Squeezebox losing it's connection to the Slimserver. Low signal strength or wifi interferance can cause this, or possibly an issue with Slimserver itself. (firewall snapping closed, or the server app is shutting down.) Can you try resetting the Squeezebox to factory defaults: - Unplug the unit - Hold down the Add (+) button on the remote while you plug it back in - You should see Factory Reset... on the screen briefly Then, go through the connection process again. Is there any change in behavior? If not, can you tell me a few settings from one of the Squeezebox menus? On the Squeezebox remote, hold down the left arrow button for 5 seconds. This should bring you to 'Set up networking'. Then scroll down to 'View current settings' and press the right arrow. From there, can you tell me: * IP address number * Wireless signal strength * MAC address * Firmware version Let me know and I'll do what I can to help. -- Devans Devans's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4873 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=25995 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
