[slim] Transporter - Is it worth it?
I'm currently using a Squeezebox 3 in my main system, connected by a coax digital link to a Tag Mclaren AV32R / 100x5R combo, and I'm now thinking of upgrading to the Transporter. Considering that the AV32R is a high quality digital pre-amp / processor and that the Transporter will be connected in the same way as the SB3, thus bi-passing it's DACs, I'm wondering if there will be a substantial benefit from the upgrade? I'm interested in people's opinions / experiences. -- Dick Sternum Dick Sternum's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1062 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=46111 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Re: No bass coming out of my sub
My guess is that your MP3 files don't go deep enough to cause the amp to move from using the fronts to using the sub. Somewhere in your amps setup will be the option to set the size of the front speakers - generally "large" means that they are able to handle bass OK and "small" means they can't. If you have your speakers set to large then chances are the amp will never use the sub when listening to music unless you can turn on a surround mode that uses it (stereo + sub for example). The reason that movies play OK is the .1 in the 5.1 which is the dedicated sub channel. -- Dick Sternum Dick Sternum's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1062 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=24854 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Re: Non Slimserver Playlists Not Showing
No - but I moved my music folders to seperate MP3 and FLAC files some time ago, and these playlists were pointing at the old location. Doh! Often you just need an extra set of eyes to sort the wood from the trees! [slim] Re: Non Slimserver Playlists Not Showing
SlimServer is configured with a folder that holds my playlists. I just installed SlimServer onto a fresh machine as a test, created a folder for music with a couple of albums in it and a folder for paylists into which I copied all playlists from the server. This time it doesn't pick up anything at all. -- Dick Sternum Dick Sternum's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1062 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=24846 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Re: Non Slimserver Playlists Not Showing
I saw the posting regards the 6.3.0 6.2.2 - but I've been having this issue for ages (probably since before 6.2.0). Just tried opening in notepad and saving then did a rescan of playlists only, but still the same. I think I'm just gonna end up uninstalling and re installing the server. -- Dick Sternum Dick Sternum's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1062 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=24846 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Non Slimserver Playlists Not Showing
Appologies if this has already covered, but I couldn't find anything. Essentially, if I create playlists either from the SB or through the web interface of SlimServer, I can browse them. If I create playlists as M3U files through another application (Winamp say) and save them to my playlist folder I don't see them even after doing a rescan. I have just moved from 6.2.1 to 6.2.2 on Windows Server 2003 to see if that improved things, but no. I have been constantly upgrading slim server, so perhaps it's time to uninstall and start again. -- Dick Sternum Dick Sternum's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1062 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=24846 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Re: Strange Digital Volume Control Problem
Sean It's a Tag Mclaren AV32R. Literally all I've done is unplugged the digital cable from the back of the SB2 and plugged it into the SB3. The SB3 is then (I think) configured the same. Unfortunately I don't have another amp with a digital input to try. Its working perfectly as is (digital output option set to variable and the volume turned up to max) so to be honest I probably wont bother too much. On another note - is there a way to copy the setup of one player to another, so that I can make sure that the two players are indeed the same? -- Dick Sternum Dick Sternum's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1062 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=24779 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Re: Strange Digital Volume Control Problem
I was talking about the web interface of SlimServer that goes up to 11. What I'm trying to understand is why it's distorted when my SB2 connected in it's place works fine with the digital output fixed, but the SB3 which is the same hardware doesn't. I don't use analogue inputs on the amp, so haven't tested these. -- Dick Sternum Dick Sternum's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1062 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=24779 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Strange Digital Volume Control Problem
I have just added an SB3 to my collection and have used it to replace an SB2 in my main system, moving the SB2 elsewhere in the house. The SB3 is setup the same as the SB2 was, connecting to the same WAP and using the same connections to the amplifier (co-ax digital). However, when I set the digital volume control setting via slimserver to "digital output level is fixed" which is how I had the SB2 configured, all I get is massively distorted output. I've checked the settings between the two units and everything else seems the same. I notice the same thing with my two SB1's (although not with the SB2). I have put it down to the lights activating the IR sensor as it appears to come on most of the time when I switch on the lights in the room. [slim] Fitting SB1 Graphical Display
Got back from my business trip today to find my replacement graphical display waiting for me, but alas no fitting instructions. I've obviously got to remove the old IR sensor from the SB as the new display has one intergrated, but beyond that I'm clueless. Do I need to solder the existing IR cable to the new display board (there appears to be 3 holes for this just above the sensor) and what do I do with the black cable comming from the display board? I obviously need to plug that into something, but what? Any help greatly received. -- Dick Sternum Dick Sternum's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1062 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=17862 ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Your not leaving the desktop / QuickLaunch shortcuts there from the old install are you? I had the same issues going from 5.4 - 6.1 leaving my original shortcuts in place. [slim] "New" SB2 (UK) - Does This seem used to you?
Ordered a SB2 online recently to supliment my 2 existing SB's. It arrived today, and looks and works fine, but I really think that the player has been used: There was no outer "Slim Devices" packaging that the other two came on - just the white inner cardboard box. The tape seal on this box has been cut. The batteries were already in the remote and not separately sealed. No network Cable was present, nor the audio cable - this is not big deal to me as I have enough of both already, am using it wirelessly and via digital output, but still. Best of all, the player was already configured with a SSID (no security), IP address from DHCP (not the 169 address either), and the address of a SlimServer. Am I being really silly or does this seem used to anyone else too, before I go and talk to the supplier. -- Dick Sternum ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
