Re: [slim] What can I do now? Squeezebox classic died
Sweet! Thanks, guys - I've just made my first-ever eBay purchase, a Logitech-era Classic, and got it for $43 less than the Buy Now price. Re: [slim] What can I do now? Squeezebox classic died
Hmm...the $600 price was for a supposedly new-in-box Touch, but I suppose at that price I could afford to get a used dud Classic or two and still come out ahead. Reviving a dead thread because I just opened up my eight-year-old bought-direct-from-SlimDevices Squeezebox 3 and I wanted to correct the assumptions. Mine has never been serviced and has that same whitish residue, so it's not an indicator of previous service. Unfortunately, I opened mine up because after eight years of working great it started spontaneously rebooting over the weekend, and then was about 5-10 seconds out of sync from my other SqueezeDevices (a Touch and a Radio) when it came back up. Tried re-seating everything in a forlorn hope of fixing it, but it's still constantly rebooting, so I guess I either suck it up and buy a Touch for $600 or think about replacing my whole system with a Sonos system. I'm genuinely sorry to have it die like this, since it's really been a joy to use over its lifetime; I guess I can't really complain, though, when I figure how much use I got out of it over an eight-year period. Well, I guess I could complain that Logitech didn't continue to support the product line, or sell it to someone who wanted to try competing with Sonos. ;) Evan_E's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11841 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97577 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

As soon as I click on an album, the directory is created, and is populated with the artwork for that album. Click on another album, and the artwork for that album is added to the cache. -- Evan_E Evan_E's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11841 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51825 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Artwork (sort of) missing in 7.2
Well, lacking any other solution, I spent 90 minutes clicking on every one of my 1408 albums. I'm curious as to whether anybody else has had this problem, though, and if I missed a "regenerate artwork" button deep in the bowels of Settings. -- Evan_E Evan_E's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11841 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51825 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Artwork (sort of) missing in 7.2
I've just upgraded from 7.1 to 7.2, and I think that may have been a mistake. All my MP3s have artwork embedded in them, and SlimServer/SqueezeCenter, up until now (since version 5 or so), has been able to display the artwork. However, I'm now seeing "blank" icons for all albums in Album view. If I click on an album, though, the resulting page shows the proper artwork, and if I go back to album view the proper artwork will then be showing for that particular album. But since I have 1400 albums, I think you can understand why I don't want to click on every single album to fix this. I've tried multiple browsers, deleting the cache on each one, stopping & restarting SqueezeCenter, and doing a full rescan of my library multiple times. I'm using iTunes to manage my music, and SqueezeCenter scans my iTunes information. iTunes 7.5, running on Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.4. This was all working fine in SqueezeCenter 7.1. Any suggestions? -- Evan_E Evan_E's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11841 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51825 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

If you manually add artwork, it's embedded in the ID3 tags and SqueezeCenter handles it with aplomb. If you're running a Mac, you can use the Embed Artwork AppleScript to embed existing artwork that isn't showing up in SqueezeCenter. http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=embedart -- Evan_E Evan_E's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11841 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51196 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Mac user: should I upgrade 6.5.1 to 7.1?
Mac user running 7.0.1 here - while I haven't yet upgraded to 7.1 (I'm also of the if-it-ain't-broke-don't-fix-it school), I've found no problems w/ 7.0.1, and the UI improvements to be a huge step up. I'm actually skimming the forums right now to see if any Mac users have had problems upgrading to 7.1. I have SqueezeCenter scan my iTunes data about once a week to check for updates, and so far it's always caught any new MP3's that I've added to iTunes. -- Evan_E Evan_E's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11841 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51159 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Slimserver 6.5.2 boots up iTunes
I've just upgraded to SlimServer 6.5.2 from 6.3.1, and while I like most of the changes I've run across, I've got a weird thing going on that I can't find reference to in these forums - every time SlimServer moves to a new song, it boots up the copy of iTunes on the same machine. If I turn off SlimServer in the middle of a song, it won't boot up iTunes, but as soon as it moves to a new song, iTunes boots up in the background. Is there some way to stop this, or is this just something I have to live with? Details: OS: Mac OS X 10.4.8 iTunes v. 6.0.4 machine: MacPro 2.7 GHz PPC, 3GB RAM I'm having SlimServer use iTunes's library and playlists.
