r3191 is now being pushed to 7.2.1 users, so I've removed the custom files I linked too in my last post. We think we have a number of these Blue Icon Of Doom issues resolved. The fix will be pushed out sometime next week, but if you'd like to try it now you can download a custom Controller firmware version and a custom version file here: http://eng.slimdevices.com/~ross/ Simply put both of those files in your cache directory, and connect your controller to a player connected to your SqueezeCenter and your Controller should prompt to update. Cache directory for OSX: ~/Library/Caches/SqueezeCenter/ Cache directory for XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SqueezeCenter\Cache Application Data is a hidden directory, you'll need to enable show hidden files and folders from folder options (tools - folder options - view, from explorer) to browse to this directory. Re: [slim] Wrong self-assigned IP for SB Duet receiver
Sounds like a networking problem. First off self assigned IPs will look like that, 169...etc. If you're seeing this option it means your controller isn't reaching DHCP. Could be a few reasons for this, number one reason that comes to my mind would be WEP encryption failure, do you use WEP? Things to try: 1. Factory reset Controller and Receiver (hold front button for 6 seconds until it blinks rapidly) 2. Go through setup again, if it fails, consider disabling encryption temporarily as a diagnostic. If that works, double-check your encryption. 3. If it still fails take a look at the router, is DHCP enabled? Everything seem normal? There are a number of network related issues that can occur with Duet and Controller, I could use some information in this particular case. A typical case of this seems to be after setting Controller down (not in charger) for a period of time, then waking the controller and seeing a red wireless icon. If you see this please reply to this thread with your wireless router / access point model number and version, and firmware version. As well please share your wireless encryption settings, and DHCP status. Also please let us know if this is a standard wireless setup or bridged (Receiver connected via Ethernet), and finally the firmware version of the controller available in Settings - Advanced - About. If you have questions about what connection type you're using, please see here: http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/SqueezeboxConnectionTypes If you happen to reproduce this behavior (red wireless icon after sleep) please check the DHCP client table within your router (often called LAN status or similar) and compare the IP address assigned to your Controller with the IP the controller. Re: [slim] Duet Receiver Loses Connection
Ahh ok so the issue is the wireless connection between your PC and your network. If your Receiver and/or PC are right next to your router, why not consider Ethernet? Anyhow, you'll need to do a bit more diagnostic to understand exactly what is causing this, it could be a number of things. From what you're describing I have a hunch it's your PC running SqueezeCenter, it's losing its network connection, could be the fault of the router, but would doubt encryption is to blame. Ensure your routers firmware is up to date, and consider doing the same for the driver of your wireless adapter for your PC as well. If you have Ethernet, you could cable your PC if that solves the problem it would indicate the issue is your PCs wireless connection. If it does not solve the issue, consider cabling your Squeezebox receiver for the same test. Let us know how you fair. -- Ross L Ross Levine - Slim Devices Quality Assurance Ross L's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4416 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=44340 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Depends on the firmware you're using currently. SC7 ships with firmware 86 for SB2/3, and 40 for Transporter. It is indeed simple to run more than one SqueezeCenter server on a single network, just install as usual. Ron, It's very possible that the wireless failure is out of your control. It could be due to neighboring wireless networks, or some new microwave, too many things can cause wireless networks to fail. Just because it worked yesterday doesn't mean it will work today. I use a Squeezebox via wireless in my garage and most of the time it works perfectly, but sometimes it simply will not work. The wireless works in the rest of my house but not in the garage, sometimes. I've turned appliances off and on and even asked my neighbors, yet still I have no idea what causes the failure. In my opinion, the only practical solution to my problem is an Ethernet cable. Re: [slim] Slimserver Problems running on Windows Vista
HifiSteve you might want to call/email support. I think something might be wrong with your player, have you checked its MAC address? Hold the left arrow on the remote for 5 seconds, then scroll down to 'current settings' and hit the right arrow. Then scroll down to MAC address and compare it with the sticker on the bottom, do they match? If they don't hit the right arrow once more and change the MAC address to match the sticker on the bottom of the player. If that doesn't help, I'd suggest contacting support about this networking issue. -- Ross L Ross Levine - Slim Devices Quality Assurance Ross L's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4416 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=32578 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] 6.5.1 not recognizing itunes
There are a lot of anti-virus solutions out there, and I believe most of them come with a free trial period. I'd suggest trying another solution and see how it works on your computer before buying it, then decide if it's right for you. -- Ross L Ross Levine - Slim Devices Quality Assurance Ross L's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4416 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=34333 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Slimserver Problems running on Windows Vista
Some changes have been made in the most recent nightly build that seem to be clearing up the blank web interface after restart issue, without the need for any work around. (bug 4748) http://www.slimdevices.com/downloads/nightly/SlimServer_6_5_x_v2007-04-23/ I realize most people that have run into this have likely found the workaround to be functional. If anyone is still experiencing this issue please try the latest nightly 6.5.2 We are very much aware of SlimServer issues on Vista, and we're doing our best to get the data to the right people so we can get these wrinkles ironed out as soon as possible. -- Ross L Ross Levine - Slim Devices Quality Assurance Ross L's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4416 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=32578 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Is it a foreign version of XP? If you've verified against an Ethernet cable connected directly to your Ethernet network, then yes I would agree it must be hardware. support AT slimdevices DOT com should be able to help you with an RMA if you are interested in repairing. -- Ross L Ross Levine - Slim Devices Quality Assurance Ross L's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4416 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=34253 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

When I switch to my rhapsody account through squeezenetwork everything is fine and music plays. Any ideas why slim network won't work? This is a firewall issue. Do you have a 3rd party firewall, or anti-virus software that might contain a firewall thats blocking TCP 9000? -- Ross L Ross Levine - Slim Devices Quality Assurance Ross L's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4416 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=32578 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
