Re: [slim] Connect SB3 directly to Mac wirelessly without a router
Do a search on "Ad-hoc network", it's do-able, but will require a Static IP on the SB3, unless you can get DHCP running on the Mac. The Mac's IP will be the gateway for the SB3. Not familar with Airport wireless, but shouldn't be too much. Is that enough info to get you started? Cheers! Re: [slim] Updating music files over the network
Perhaps I am confused? What has Win7? The SheevaPlug or another PC, a DeskTop? Anyways... If the sheevaplug has UBUNTU or soem other flavour of LINUX, then you will need SAMBA so that the music folder can be shared over the LAN. You can then 'map the folder' as a Drive on the windows machine. Once that is done, use whatever Sync software is you pleasure. I use SyncToy to back up to an occasionally attached USB drive on the XP Pro PC from my music folder on a UBUNTU 11.04 shuttle PC. Cheers! Yep, it's using the wrong DHCP server - do you know how to manually enter the IP? Make it look like the other devices on your net 192.168.2.X, with the X being something like '100', and the gateway being '1', just make sure there are no conflicts. Works better anyways with the server having a static IP. What does ifconfig , and the contents of hosts file contain, and maybe the TCP/UDP ports in the services file? Just guessing, but no one else is answering/trying. -- alZmtbr alZmtbr's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8773 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=34515 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Network Setup Help
If you have configured ZoneAlarm to notify you for network access, then when you fire up your browser http://localhost:9000/ a ZoneAlarm notification window should pop up. Check the boxes for 'allow' and 'remember this setting' or some such (I'm at work - so can't verify on my home machine). You will then get a notification for port 9038(?) as well - do the same for that port (allow and remember). While you're there verify the IP address of the server as well... Good Luck! ~Allan. -- alZmtbr alZmtbr's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8773 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=32279 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
