albums. For the 200 albums it didn't do it made finding the art a
little easier than it would be searching with a browser for about 50 of
the albums, and the other 150 I had to find the image manually and plug
the link in for Bliss so I would say it didn't help me for 10% of my
albums.

The user interface leaves a lot to be desired but the program works and
doing all of this manually would have taken years off my life (and other
competing programs did other things I didn't like)... so overall I'm
happy with it - thanks to whoever brought it up earlier because I'd

available on the Pandora web player (to quote: When listening on the

Both Pandora and Logitech are aware of the issue, and Pandora is
 reportedly working on it.

I don't think I would go so far as to say they are working on it. A
pandora response to my query April 2nd, 2010:

We're a small company and we simply don't have the resources to do
everything we'd like to do all at once. Someday we will re-engineer the
Pandora API so in-home devices like yours can receive higher bit-rate
audio. Thanks for your patience.

As I interpret this response they are not even working on it, yet.
I'd say it is on their radar but whether they intend on doing anything
about it or not is a different story.Granted this was 3 months ago
so somebody may have evidence that they are working on it since then
(but I haven't seen it).

This appears to be an excellent tool... I can imagine having better
documentation of my albums will make it easier to avoid buying
duplicates when I am at the store! One issue is preventing me from

Phil,

I just upgraded from MP3TAG 2.4.1 to 2.4.3 and when looking at the tags
noticed a DiscNumber tag field (it may have been there before but I
didn't see it, or the install of 2.4.3 re-set my view or something so
that I could see it) and that DiscNumber tag had a value of 1/1 on the
MP3s from Amazon - it was blank for all the other tracks. I emptied
that value and did a clear/rescan and now things show up fine and in the
correct order!

I've been Slackin' on the FLACin'...I've ripped a little over 1000 CDs
that I own and have been terrified of having to go back and rip them all
again. I've been intrigued by FLAC and sooner or later I'll probably
start ripping in that format...

Anyway - it looks like I'm fixed up - thanks for pushing me into
messing with the tags.

[slim] Track order w/ multiple file types

2009-07-23 Thread danull

Hello,

I'm having some trouble and hoping somebody here knows what I can do to
resolve it. I was unable to find a similar post using the Search
function on this forum. Currently using Slimserver 7.3.2.

I have ripped several of my CDs in WMA 192 Kbps format but they were
old CDs and so some of the tracks had blips in them. So, I went out to
Amazon and purchased the MP3 and downloaded it.

After rescanning for new music I now see when browsing the album via
Internet Explorer that the order of tracks is incorrect, and if I press
play on the album they are played out of sequence. The order is
currently track 1, 3-7, and then 2 at the end - 1 and 3-7 being my WMAs
and 2 being the downloaded MP3 from Amazon.

I noticed using MP3TAG that the MP3 had the Track as 2-7 instead of
just 2, so I edited that, cleared library and rescanned - but things
still appear out of order. I think it is probably related to the
multiple file types (both WMA and MP3 in the same album/folder). I'd
really like to get this track in it's proper place because this is one
of those albums that really needs to be played in the right order...

Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to provide,

-Dan

LOL, I was hoping you'd make more fun of him, not me. Not all of us
still live with our parents, guys =P No way I could have known he
would rip in a format different from what I recommended (I said WMA 192
Kbps, he went WMA Pro after he somehow decided to download windows media
player beta and said to himself hey Pro must be better, it's Pro!).
Besides, I'm out there spreading the Squeezebox word and getting more
units sold which in turn benefits us all! I should get some kind of
medal!

As for the Math, I agree sounds strange. Saw it with my own eyes
though, ~620 albums according to Slimserver and he said he started
yesterday afternoon or evening. It is possible I got confused about
when he started since we were playing cards and drinking tonight. I
do know he got the Squeezebox earlier this week though so has only had
it a few days.

Anyway the question remains as to when Squeezebox will support WMA Pro.
Anybody have any idea? I doubt the answer is never.

He probably ripped a bunch of compilations and didn't tag them
correctly, so each song is being shown as a separate album.

 - Marc

ah-ha! That's probably it...he has a ton of compilation albums/movie
soundtracks, etc. He has 6.3 software installed (I stayed back on
6.2.2 after seeing bug reports about 6.3 in this forum).

OK so that probably explains why so many albums according to
Slimserver. Now to figure out when/if WMA Pro will be
supportedsounds like the Slim Devices guys are off for a few more
days, so I'll probably have to wait.

Knowing him if he didn't hear from me by this morning then he has
probably already deleted everything and started re-ripping in a
supported format. So I guess the question about WMA Pro is now to
satisfy my curiosity more than anything.

Thanks for your comments, guys.

[slim] WMA Pro + Squeezebox question

2006-07-01 Thread danull

Hello all,

I recently sold my father-in-law on the idea of a Squeezebox so he went
out and got one of his own. Last night and today he ripped 600+ CDs in
the WMA PRO format which is apparently a new format with the Beta
version of Windows Media Player 11.

Anyway after spending a while debugging it I finally realised that WMA
PRO audio files won't play on Squeezebox. WMA 192 KBPS works fine, WMA
Lossless works fine, but everything he ripped in WMA PRO won't play.

So my question is, when will Squeezebox support WMA PRO, approximately?
Will it only be a matter of days/weeks or will it be months/many,many
months so that he should re-rip his collection (remember he did about
600 CDs like this!)

I'll be advising him what to do based on your feedback, which will be
much appreciated.

Thank you for any feedback,

-Dan
