Re: [slim] Tidal missing search results + more
Great work, mherger! Now I can access all Tidal functions, including favorites and my mixes, from Tidal. But unfortunately none of the tracks will play back. The full category results are there, everything is fast, it loads the playlist, with play times, but does not play the tracks. Playing normal search results in Tidal does not work anymore either, I tried searching for Jay-Z and clicked on first search result, it loads in the playback screen but it does not play back. I tried on otherwise working setups on Squeezelite-X for Windows, and Squeeze Player with Orangesqueeze and Squeezer on Android. Hope this is an easy thing to fix. Thank you for this big improvement to Tidal on LMS! :) echable's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=69542 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111227 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I've seen that "ID" field in the YouTube search, don't really know where I can get that from, if it's something else than just the URL. But here are some examples. Trying them now on Squeezelite-X they start counting only for a second or two then skips to next track, but still display the full track running title. Trying to play them through OrangeSqueeze, the counter just keeps going indefinitely. I checked this on Youtube now, they seem to be all "not available" there for some reason so I guess it's a YouTube problem. Really frustrating there is no way to tell the video is not available. As you can see this is a series of many, many videos and this guy's mixtapes is basically the only way to get the freshest music out of Cuba, the newest ones are the ones that are "not available". [slim] Youtube search results "not available"
If I search for YouTube videos and add search results to playlist, they will often appear to start playing but with no sound. Counter runs and total time is displayed. Sometimes, but not always, if I go to the direct link in the official YouTube app, it will show the video but say it's not available. So the LMS plugin somehow displays search results that aren't playable. These tracks are mixtapes, often 3hrs÷ in length, maybe that has something to do with it. Many other YouTube tracks play just fine so there shouldn't be a problem with my setup. Does anyone else have this problem: - Make a playlist of YouTube tracks - Save it - Come back to it later and none of the tracks will play. It will sometimes (?!) list the total playing time of the track (I listen to mixes 1hrs+ usually) but never start playback. Re: [slim] IMPORTANT: Stop forwarding your LMS ports to the internet!
Can confirm this is a real issue - I ignored the warnings because I couldn't find any decent instructions on how to set up a VPN tunnel (and not knowledgeable about the difference between a commercial VPN provider, such as www.privateinternetaccess.com, which was the only type of VPN I knew about, and confused it with the type of VPN server you need for LMS, on your router for example, I am now using an Asus router with Merlin firmware VPN server, that you need to set up to access LMS remotely and securely). Setting up the VPN server takes five clicks on the router and then you download the OpenVPN Connect Android app on the remote device you wish to use - export an .ovpn configuration file from your router interface - import this into the Android device - and you're done. When I had port forwarding on I got hacked after about a month - woke up at 5am to the sounds of some sweet Cuban music :) - shut down everything - set up the VPN approach next day. echable's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=69542 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107165 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

As far as I've understood, LMS originated in Logitech hardware that is no longer produced, and using LMS is still dependant on Logitech itself keeping certain services running. For example, I understand e.g Tidal support is dependant on Logitech maintaining a license agreement with Tidal. What happens when/if they decide to not do this anymore ? Re: [slim] Hacked! What can the hacker do ?
Thank you all for your quick, high-quality replies :) Nothing seems to have been done with the plugins or anything else, the only thing was that the music started by itself. I have already set up an OpenVPN setup through which I can from e.g. my mobile phone access LMS through its home network local IP address. However, I don't understand how to get that to work without having port forwarding set up on the router. If I simply type the LMS server's IP address into a web browser address bar, e.g 192.168.1.100, nothing shows up. I need to have the port forwarding rule set up on the router for LMS to show up, and to type 192.168.1.100:9000 to get into LMS. Or have I misunderstood something here ? I've read all the instructions/warnings regarding remote access etc. I just don't understand how I can get LMS to show up in a browser without having port forwarded in the router. If I delete the port forwardings now, and am on my home network, how would I access LMS ? Because simply typing the internal IP address to the machine LMS is on does not take me to LMS unless I have port forwards set up ? [slim] Hacked! What can the hacker do ?
5am last night my LMS on an Odroid XU4 started playback, I assume it was because a hacker through port forwarding hacking has accessed my LMS. The LMS's music source is an NFS mounted drive on a Synology NAS. No files appear to have been deleted or anything on the NAS. I have shut down and not yet restarted the XU4. What can a hacker do through LMS ? Can they only do LMS operations, e.g. starting playback, messing with plugins or whatever ? Or, if LMS is hacked, can they gain access and do damage to the system LMS is on, or on the NAS system the mounted music source drive is on ? Would really like someone competent to clarify this for me. If the security vulnerabilities that allow LMS to be relatively easily hacked are simply limited to messing around with the LMS installation and services itself, I'm not too worried. Or can a hacker through LMS do broader damage to one's network ? Delete files for example ? I hope my question is clear, would very much appreciate help with this question. [slim] Synology LMS - some issues, inc. only package with no response at DDNS
Hi I have two LMS, one on a Synology and one on an Odroid. Synology NAS come with free DDNS-address, so I have many packages that all respond at www.myddns.com:1234. The Synology, however, at www.mysynologynas.com:9002 (on Synology LMS uses 9002), it has worked before, now the browser eventually says site can't be reached, took to long to respond. If, instead of the NAS DDNS address, I type the internal IP address of the NAS e.g. 192.168.1.100:9002, it responds like normal. I tested with other packages that are at www.mysynologynas:5678 etc., they all respond like the always have done. I deleted the whole DDNS reservation and then recreated it. I renewed the Let's Encrypt certificate. I rebooted, everything. Where do you even begin to try to pinpoint the origin of this problem ? I downloaded Pinkdot's latest Synology package for LMS a few weeks ago, is it conceivable that something was changed there that now through some strange mechanism it has stopped responding at the DDNS:port ? I have messed around with LMS a bit, even though I have two copies. However, I have so much music and need to gather so many APIs for the music services I want and stuff, that it is an expansive boring job to reconfigure a fresh install the way I want it. It is especially bad to wait for the music file scan because I have over 300.000 files. Is there a way to save config /plugins and/or the music folder scan database and transfer it directly into a fresh LMS install ? And finally, I've enabled the "look for remote music libraries", and on the Synology, the Odroid comes up as a remote music library. It asks for username, then a new but different screen asks for password. The password is seen on screen as typed, it is not ***asterisked out or anything. Then, next screen comes up like this: Password Search Home > Remote Music Libraries > odroid > Username (MY PASSWORD!) > Password (MY PASSWORD) Unable to verify your account, please try again. Is this a known issue ? Thank you for maintaining the Synology LMS package, it means a lot to me. echable's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=69542 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111305 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

If Logitech indeed has an employee dedicated to LMS - it is mature software anyway - then I suggest this employee contacts Tidal, explains the issues and asks for updated APIs so that LMS can get full Tidal search results and functionality. It is just a matter of asking them I would suppose, of course it's not in Tidal's interest that through LMS, Tidal appears as a much worse service than it actually is. Or failing that, maybe an unofficial Tidal plugin with full functionality ? Every other third-party Tidal interface I've seen fully replicates search results and functionality of official Tidal interfaces (web, desktop, app). However, the Atom > CE5335 seems obscure enough that I can't even find a datasheet (it > appears to be a design from 2011). True dat, I hate my tech reviews, where are the reliable ones ? This got great reviews when it came out, it's been nothing but a slow mess since I got it. Synology has a good OS and I suppose you can get them with good CPUs, this one has "hardware transcoding" which was what sold me because I was supposed to use it to store my video library, it's never been usable for that purpose, basically no files need transcoding anyway I've discovered. The processor is called "Evansport" and Synology's own Video Station and, unusually, an independent port of Serviio can use the HW transcoding ability, however, since the ram is so small and everything runs so slow it's useless. And I paid 2500E+ for the thing! (including the disks, which are okay I guess, I could get a new NAS and reuse the disks). The only thing is good for is as data storage for SBCs, i'm so glad I discovered them. echable's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=69542 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111206 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Tidal missing search results + more
I was extremely happy with discovering Logitech Media Server and see that all the music services I use are there in the same interface. However, I'm noticing more and more missing, from Tidal specifically, which I really on extensively. My mixes is missing. This was a crucial way I used to discover new music. Second, you seemingly can't (or can you ?) add a track playing from Tidal as a Tidal favorite, thereby forming a basis for "My mixes" etc. Third, and worst of all, search results in LMS are severely lacking. For example, do a general Tidal search in LMS for timba artist Maykel Blanco. LMS returns two albums "Soy lo que the hala" and "A toda maquina", plus a few compilations albums where the artist has a song. Searching on tidal.com or with Tidal through BubbleUpNp app gives the full list of the seven Maykel Blanco albums thatt are released. Any chance of fixing this ? Is there a setting somewhere for how long LMS spends searching a specific source that could be extended and maybe fix these problems ? Where could I reach the Tidal plugin developer ? Thank you. echable's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=69542 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111227 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Guide for setting up VPN remote access to LMS ?
OK, it's easy but I don't like it. On an Asus router with Merlin firmware, make sure you have your free ASUS DDNS set, then go to Advanced Settings - VPN - VPN Server - create username and password - click plus - click apply. Use Android OpenVPN Connect client to connect to your home network DDNS address and you can from e.g. a 4G mobile network access your home network using home network internal IP addresses. Problem is, this won't, at least with default settings, let you use my VPN provider www.privateinternetaccess.com .opvn file generator to connnect the router as a VPN client to PIA at the same time (this being another usage of the term VPN, in this case the router being a PIA client and PIA thus providing encryption/unblocking/geolocation etc. for all traffic out of router to ISP). Read a thousand posts, contacted PIA and ASUS support (both useless of course), I know it's just a simple matter of a conflicting setting or two and the router will be able to be a VPN server (for remote access to home network) and VPN client (for PIA) at the same time. Any tips appreciated. Wiki should be updated with instructions on how to do this, what with the strong warnings to avoid LMS port forwarding and nothing on how/what kind of VPN to use. echable's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=69542 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111207 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

HOW do you manually restart LMS ? There really should be an option for this in the LMS interface but I've found none. It requires periodic restarts to function smoothly IME, but only way I've found to do it is restart the entire NAS (which is like a five minute process, and I'm not sure doing it that way properly deals with shutting down/restarting LMS itself) echable's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=69542 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111210 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

This is an -essential- function IMO, I use it all the time to discover new music. I listen mostly to salsa, reggae, and hiphop, and under "my mixes" there'll be continously updated random suggested playlists based on what I've listened to before. Any chance of getting this into Tidal on LMS ? Shouldn't be any technical obstacle, I've seen other third-party Tidal interfaces do it, e.g. the excellent BubbleUPNP Android app. (BTW: Anyone else with the cheapest Tidal subscription noticed a nice perk of using Tidal through LMS ? [slim] Extreme difference in library scan times between servers ?
I have one server, and am in the process of setting up the second one: One fully functioning on an Odroid XU4 (Samsung Exynos5422 Cortex-A15 2Ghz and Cortex-A7 Octa core CPUs, 2Gbyte LPDDR3 RAM PoP stacked, Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.2), scanning entire library of about 300.000 songs w/same scanning settings, plugins etc. took about 7 hours. This was reading the files from the NAS mounted as a NFS mount drive on the XU4. One setting up on a Synology DS415PLAY (Intel Atom Dual Core 1.6GHz, DDR3 1GB RAM, WD 4*6TB disks, Logitech Media Server Version: 7.7.6), in about 12 hours it has scanned only about 6000 songs.
