[slim] Thanks and For Anyone Living Near Bristol...
I've finally moved away from Squeezeboxes after many happy years. The community has been a great support over the years so - thanks! It's fairly quiet here these days and Squeezeboxes can be in short supply so I hope it's OK to mention that I am selling all my Squeezeboxes to be collected from Bristol in the UK. They're all fairly keenly priced for a quick sale: I am selling the following all in full working order, as these go, I will keep this list updated. Each comes with the original power supply. Squeezebox Touch (remote is in poor cosmetic condition) - £63 Squeezebox Touch (no remote) - £60 Squeezebox Radio with Remote, Line-in Cable & Battery - £45 Squeezebox Radio with Remote, Line-in Cable & Battery £45 Squeezebox Controller with Charging Cradle - £45 Squeezebox Controller with Charging Cradle - £45 Squeezebox Boom (no remote, rubberised front is now little sticky) - £35 elziko's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11835 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=112718 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] SqueezePlay Ports
It looks like this is not going to work because both ports 9000 and 3483 are blocked. Being able to change 9000 won't help me if I can't change 3483. It looks like I'll have to look at using a VPN for this. My LMS does indeed use port 9000 and most clients are happy connecting via this port. However, I have (only) one client that cannot connect thought this port so I have a mapped port in my router that reroutes a connection on 1433 to 9000 on my LMS. I have tested and this works fine with connections over a web browser where I can specify the port for LMS. Now I just wanted to tell SqueezePlay to also use port 1433. Do you know if this is possible - to change the port that SqueezePlay connects on, but not the port that LMS is using? elziko's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11835 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104683 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] SqueezeCommander 0.9 for Android
I can use SqueezeCommander -outside- of my LAN on my Samsung Galaxy SII by connecting to a Wi-Fi access point just fine so I know I have all the port forwards on my router setup correctly. However, when I try and get SqueezeCommander to connect to LMS via a 3g cellular connection it fails to connect. It just sits there stating "(Handshake)". The strange thing is that SqueezePlayer will connect over 3g just fine; indeed, I can use it to play music via a webbrowser but I'm unable to use SqueezeCommander to control it. Can anyone explain why SqueezeCommander might work over Wi-Fi but not 3g whereas SqueezePlayer will work over either? I have been using port forwarding with Squeezebox server security for several years running 24/7 and I am confident that no one has been able to access it. I know it isn't perfect but I feel it is secure enough for me. So it sounds like the limitation was deliberately put in place to only allow for servers on the local network. This limitation wasn't put in place for Squeezeplay or any of the hardware players. Just an observation. Good luck with getting a new version out today! The trouble is that I was never told that I had got my password wrong - it just sat there. I have now entered the correct passwords and after a VERY long wait I now get a list of players. However, in the process of doing this I have ended up with one situation where I have no players listed and one situation with all players listed but the app freezes. On both occasions I can't event exit the app - it asks me if I want to but the Yes/No buttons don't do anything. I have to force close. Now that I am up and running though: 1) Now playing art work doesn't work. Sometimes I get nothing. Sometime I get something from several tracks earlier which then sticks and album art is not up dated again. 2) Why can't I connect to my Squeezebox server over the internet via 3G? Of course you can! Although I only have 3 hardware (and up to three software SqueezeBoxes). There are some people who have many more! I was also wondering how you developed this - what environment? I only ask because I have done a little WM development using Visual Studio 2005/2008 and with that you get a WM device emulator with which you can select different screen sizes for testing & debugging. If you have the Windows Mobile 6 SDK then you probably already have the emulator installed. Even if you're not using Visual Studio or the SDK I think you can download the device emulator separately - developing blindly for other screen sizes must be hard work without an emu! http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=dd567053-f231-4a64-a648-fea5e7061303&displaylang=en I look forward to your next release. -- elziko elziko's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11835 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=62486 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] PDA controller solution
Thanks for this little application - it's a great idea. I can't really use it fully until it can connect to a SqueezeCenter with password protection but I have tried it quickly and here are a couple of things I have noticed: 1) If you change the server address this isn't honored until the application is restarted but the user isn't given any notification of this. 2) Lack of authentication support - but I gather you already know that. 3) Appearance on a VGA screen - they layout for the most (see below) seems OK but quality is poor since the screen is obviously being resized to fit the bigger area leading to a pixilated look. 4) When listing all the players I have the list gets cut-off. See attached image. But on the whole it seems to work OK - if it could also behave as a player that would be great but I'm sure that unlikely to happen! I look forward to testing some more when authentication is included. [slim] Network Test & SBR
I'm thinking of starting to get my music as FLACs rather than MP3s but first I'd like to make sure my network can cope with streaming FLAC to 4 SqueezeBoxes simultaneously. I can run the Network Test on my SBB & SB3 just fine. Initialy I couldn't find the option on my SBR and then found that it's menu shortcut was disabled on the controller. After enabling it I could run the test but I'm unsure what I was actually testing. It said something along the lines of "Test to Kitchen" where Kitchen is the name of my SBR. Is the Network test a test of streaming from the SBC to the SBR (which is how it's worded), the server to the SBR, the SBC to the sever or something else? Firstly, ADSL if a variant of DSL - as far as I understand it all consumer DSL is ADSL. At the moment you more than likely have ADSL with which you are using an ADSL wireless router. This is a wireless router with an integrated ADSL modem. If you are changing to Virgin Media cable then they will supply you with a cable modem so you'll need to buy a standard wireless router that you will plug your cable modem into. You will (almost certainly) not be able to plug the Virgin Media cable modem into your ADSL wireless router. If you are changing to cable then what the cable company said about changing from an ADSL router to a DSL router is pretty much nonsense. Once everything is set up SBs shoudld work with any router. I hope that clears things up a little. -- elziko elziko's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11835 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51550 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

I connect t my SqueezeCenter vis the web interface locally and from across the internet and it's been working fine for ages. Last night I had to re-install SqueezeCenter and although I can still connect to the web interface locally when I try it over the internet my browser (IE7) starts to load the page, gets as far as displaying the background and the a dialog pops up stating: "Stop running this script? A script on this page is causing Internet Explorer to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive." If I click 'Yes' then the dialog disappears and the page stops loading. If I click 'No' I get an hour-glass for about 10 seconds and then the dialog reappears.
