Re: [slim] Octoshape p2p HQ radio streaming

2009-11-04 Thread firestorm

I'm listening to RTHK using Octoshape as I'm typing, its very
impressive, seems more reliable than than the lo-fi stream.

Would love to hear this in Slimcentre.

[slim] more strange scan problems on 7.2

2008-10-04 Thread firestorm

Database Optimize ( of ) Complete 00:07:27

SqueezeCenter has finished scanning your music collection. Total Time:
02:38:09

On the SC main page I get :
7579 albums with 85482 songs by 0 artists.

I can't search by artists or genre, but I can see songs, if I look via
albums or music folder.

Which is obviously wrong. I have been using the 7.3 nightly build, the
scan function works a lot better, but I found that it didn't want to
play AAC or WMA files, it appears to play, but nothing comes out, so I
went back to 7.2.

My music is a mix of 65% FLAC, 20% WMA, 10% AAC, the rest MP3.

I've done a search, but haven't found anything relevant.

Something else I've noticed is that if I stop the scan process before
it optimises, I get to sell all my artists.

Can anyone help ?

Thanks

[slim] scanning issues

2008-04-26 Thread firestorm

I've tried the search function for this, but haven't found anything
relevant yet.

I'm using the latest SC7.01 beta (26 April)

Where is the database/library located ?

reason is I want to delete and start from scratch. even renaming the SC
dir and installing a new copy of SC, it remembers my old database

I have retagged my songs, but I still see the old stuff there
contaminanting the db

Thanks

[slim] Re: Displaying Chinese on SB2

2005-12-30 Thread firestorm

Hello Dan,
I haven't used the search function yet - I have however tried browse
music -> music folders -> and playlists that point to songs with
unicode titles.

I have rescanned the library many times.

I have also noticed this problem with real streaming stations, like
http://www.rthk.org.hk/live1.asx

The station name is displayed incorrectly.

I'll see if I can search the songs.

Thanks

[slim] Re: Displaying Chinese on SB2

2005-11-27 Thread firestorm

guys, did you manage to solve the problem with slimserver not being able
to detect directory names in Chinese which shows up ok under Win XP ?

I have Win XP SP2 English version.
SlimServer Version: 6.2.2 - 5295 - Windows XP - EN - cp1252
(27 Nov 2005 build)
SB3 and softsqueeze

I have put CODE2000.TTF and Cybercjk.ttf in Slimserver\server\Graphics
directory

Nearly all mp3/flac that have Chinese in the directory or filename are
not recognised at all by slimserver. The ones that are recognised comes
out as non-sensical. e.g. ÈáÇéÀá.

I'm interested to see if any one that can read Chinese can get the
following artists and title to show up on their SB ??

许冠杰.财神到.1978

and

十萬個為什麼 by 王菲

Thanks

btw WMP v9 displays the titles ok and I can see them ok in windows
explorer

[slim] Re: music held on multiple HD

2005-11-25 Thread firestorm

did a bit of digging and found this :

ln
A feature of linking files is available in Linux. It works by
"redirecting" a file to the actual file. It's referred to as a symbolic
link. Don't confuse this term with the linking of programs, which is
when binary programs are connected with libraries that they need to
load in order to run.

The most simple way that I've ever used ln to create symbolic links is
ln -s existing_file link. Evidently there's a hard link and a symbolic
link; I've been using a symbolic link all along. You can also use the
-f flag to force the command line to overwrite anything that might have
the symbolic link's file name already.

To remove a symbolic link, simply type rm symbolic_link. It won't
remove the file that it's linked to.

Patrick, symlinks are for linking libraries in make files for compiling
apparently.

Neil, I read LN as IN at first, but found it eventually.

Thanks guys!

[slim] music held on multiple HD

2005-11-24 Thread firestorm

Hi,
I have the following setup :

slimcd running in a virtual pc
mounts a 80Gb FAT32 virtual drive

I ftp the flac/mp3 files across to it when adding incrementally and
mount it directly when dumping large amounts of files on to it.

Now the above works ok, but I'm wondering what happens when I run out
of space and mount another virtual or real HD to it. I'm sure I can
have an alias pointing to the next drive if it was a linux type
partition or shortcuts if it was a MS Windows pc.

I'm not a linux expert, so how would I go about creating the link
between the first and next partitions (FAT32)?

Thanks

hmm, thought as much, I'm running slimcd at the mo, so theoretically if
I chance one of the nightly builds, the message should change if I
reboot the SB3 ?

[slim] my SB3 has turned into SB2 ...

2005-11-22 Thread firestorm

Got my SB3 last week, very smart looking and sounds great. The first
time I hooked it up with Slimserver, I was asked to press the
brightness button to upgrade the firmware. After this it restarted and
told me my SB3 is a SB2.

Any one else seen this ?
