Re: [slim] anyone using 7.5 embedded?
I'm using 7.5 embedded on my Sheevaplug w/ 1.2ghz ARM CPU and 512MB of RAM. 7.5 embedded scanner is WAY faster. The WebUI is not much faster. I think it really should be, though. This is a major area that I think Logitech should work on speeding up. I run a web server from my sheevaplug as well, and those sites are pretty advanced, and they're much faster. Also, does anyone know what the major advantages / disadvantages of going to SQL lite are? It said that browsing might be slightly slower. on my slow CPU (sheevaplug), i really wish browsing were a bit faster... -- hungarianhc 'Howto: Building a squeezebox server for under $100!' Re: [slim] Best of Luck - moving on...
Been following this thread... It takes a LOT of work to get things to the "everything just works" point with the Squeezebox Server. But once it's set up, I think you really can just set it and forget it. I think an area for Squeezebox Product management to look at is a quick and easy server, possibly based on the Sheevaplug... -- hungarianhc 'Howto: Building a squeezebox server for under $100!' Re: [slim] Squeezebox receiver + iPeng - reliable?
I'm curious about this too - I want to buy my mother a Squeeze Center setup for christmas, but the duet is out of my price range. She has an iPod Touch so I think the receiver would be the perfect solution, but setup looks a bit daunting... Assuming I can get the thing set up, how reliable is it to just stick with only iPeng + Receiver? -- hungarianhc 'Howto: Building a squeezebox server for under $100!' Re: [slim] What device(s) would you recommend for my parents' setup?

So I don't mind doing the initial techy setup. I'm quite the nerd, and I'm sure I could figure it out... So here's the question - She will likely be using iPeng to control the audio, regardless of the device I buy. Does she gain or lose anything by going with the Classic v. Receiver? Either way she will be using external speakers. Thanks! I'm really excited to get this for her. -- hungarianhc hungarianhc's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33752 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70890 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] What device(s) would you recommend for my parents' setup?
There's wifi throughout the entire house... How about this... My mom is going to get an iPod Touch from my dad for Christmas. I love iPeng, and I'm sure she could get used to that interface. Could I just get a squeezebox duet receiver for her w/ iPeng? There's an iMac upstairs with all of her music. She'd be happy to install squeezecenter on there - i don't think they yet need a nas / server (although i love mine!). I see I can get one of these for like $150 after shipping. I think this would be a good way to dip the toes in without plunking a huge investment down. -- hungarianhc hungarianhc's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33752 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70890 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] What device(s) would you recommend for my parents' setup?
After some research, looks like the duet is the way to go... right? but then i just have the duet plug into the receiver... so I lose the ability to control multiple zones - the whole house will just be one "zone," but it will still work. -- hungarianhc hungarianhc's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33752 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70890 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] What device(s) would you recommend for my parents' setup?
Hi All, So I LOVE my new Squeezebox setup in my apartment. I have a couple Squeezebox Radios, and i'm just totally in love with these things. I'm upgrading my home server to a SheevaPlug next week, and I'm pretty excited to set this thing up :-). In any case, I'd like to set my parents up with a Squeezebox setup this Christmas, but I'm not sure which device is best for them. As of now, they have a stereo system with speakers all over the house. The speaker wire is actually run throughout the house and it all comes in once central spot. In that spot, they currently have an Audio receiver hooked up to a CD player. The receiver then outputs to a speaker terminal, basically a hub, where all the speakers are connected to. You can push the buttons on the hub to turn the speakers on / off throughout the house. What's the best way to integrate squeezebox products into the current setup? [slim] I live in San Francisco - Where can I go buy one NOW?
Hi All, I've had a tough time finding retailers that have the Squeezebox. I'm going to the gym now, and when I get back, I'd love to get in my car and go buy a Squeezebox Radio. Does anyone know where I can get one? If i have to order it, I will... I'd just prefer to go pick this thing up now. Thanks! Looking forward to more posting in this forum! -- hungarianhc hungarianhc's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33752 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70193 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
