Re: [slim] SqueezeBox3 slow response
Thanks! Your little program works very well. Re: [slim] Urg! Pandora may be shutting down?!
Musketeer;345531 Wrote: > > I'm trying to understand who exactly is winning by closing off access > and preventing willing customers like me from paying for these > services. If anyone perhaps its me?? Problem is that licensing rights are regional. Different entities can own the rights to songs in different regions and different laws apply in different jurisdictions. Pandora may have the licence rights to broadcast the music in the USA, but it would have to separately negotiate such broadcast rights in each country, which may become difficult. I loved listening to Pandora (like you, I managed to get it through Squeezenetwork in Australia, but that option has now been shut down). I know that SqueezeCenter lets you set up a proxy now... if only I can find a way to make that work to stream Pandora via a US proxy server... any suggestions? -- lhmperth lhmperth's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15131 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51180 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Changes to SqueezeNetwork???
I must say, I am very sad to be losing Pandora. I live in Australia, had a ligitimate Pandora account I was paying for and used Pandora all the time. It is almost my main source of music and has resulted in me buying more music as Pandora caused me to stumble onto new artists I like. Losing Pandora as a very sad and serious loss for me :-( -- lhmperth lhmperth's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15131 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=50531 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

I am still hanging out to buy two extra Receivers in Australia, however it appears they are not on sale here. I love my Duet and will easily put two or three Receivers into the house. Are they coming as separate items to Australia? If not, I guess I will just have to buy some more SB3s, which is a shame :-( -- lhmperth lhmperth's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15131 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=45677 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

With time my family will see some of the things I have and if they like it, I'll set it up for them. However, I always have to be careful to only give them stuff they can handle, as they have no technical skills. The SB3 was not quite ready to roll out to them. However, the Duet is definitely ready for then, even my elderly parents, who will love it. The only thing I would do is to avoid the Squeezenetwork. They will get too confused between the two music sources. Slimdevices would be wise to incorporate Squeezenetwork full into Squeezecentre to have one seamless product (it is increasingly getting there and I would have thought within the next 12 months they would be integrated full if they go at the current pace of integration). The Duet is the iPod equivalent for home music - I would never have given my parents an MP3 player, but once the iPod came out, we had a product perfect for them. The Duet is the same. -- lhmperth lhmperth's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15131 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=47952 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

I must say, I can't complain about SC7 either. It's working fine for me and I have not encountered any problems. Re: [slim] How do you use your Squeezebox Controller?
A poll associated with this post was created, to vote and see the results, please visit http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=47945 Question: How do you primarily use your Squeezebox Controller? - I usually place it back in the cradle after I've selected my music - It tends to follow me around the house I would have thought to ensure a longer battery life it is best to keep it out of the cradle until it is due for a charge. I know that Li-ion batteries have less of a memory effect than the old NiMH batteries, but my experience with any battery operated device is that you should minimise the number of recharges. -- lhmperth lhmperth's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15131 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=47945 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] When will the Duet be available for purchase in Australia
I bought the Duet here in Australia from www.ibuy.com.au. Quick delivery. The Duet is great. It has increased my use greatly from the older SB3. However, I now want to put some more Squeezebox receivers around the house (no need for an additional controller). Does anyone know when they will be available in Australia to be bought separately? I see they are not listed on the Australian Logitech website. -- lhmperth lhmperth's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15131 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=45677 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

As a number of people have suggested, do the very simple test of moving your SB3 next to your router, connect it by wire and see if you still have a problem. This should have been your first test. If the problem goes away, we know it is a wireless problem and can attempt to fix it. If you still have a problem, you can stop wasting your time on finding a wireless fix, as the problem lies elsewhere. A number of people of suggested this very simple step. You seem to be ignoring this repeatedly. I don't know why you won't listen to those people who are genuinely trying to help you. I suspect this is the first thing support told you too and they probably would give up if you don't follow their requests. -- lhmperth lhmperth's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15131 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=43298 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Australians being screwed on price??
The price difference between Australia and the US is nothing new. It applies to almost everything from CDs and DVDs to cars, computers, clothing, furniture, etc. Similar price difference exist with Europe and even within Europe (although, less so now where a common currency exists). Reason vary from tranport costs (a big factor for Australia), tarrifs, taxes and a string of other reasons. A big factor in Australia is that Australia is such a small market compared to the US. However, as individuals are increasingly having access to buying overseas, this becoming less of an issue. It should not be ignored that sometimes it is just a money making exercise by someone. However, this is becoming less of an issue, as I can get on the net and find an alternative supplier anywhere in the world if the local supplier is too expensive. But even local suppliers are catching on that they need to be more competitive. The RRP in Australia for the SB3 may appear high, but I recently bought an SB3 for AU$299 in Australia from my local computer shop. Not a bad price at all compared to what you can get in the US. Things are changing. -- lhmperth lhmperth's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15131 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=43128 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
