[slim] Using Pandora from Squeezenetwork

2007-11-27 Thread ptorpey

Last year I set up an account on Pandora on my PC and that works fine
through my PC.

Now that I have a SQ, I would like to play Pandora through the
Squeezenetwork software. Question:

1. Using Squeezenetwork, how do I log in with my user name and/or
password?
2. Will SN just know who I am?
3. Each time I try to run Pandora from within the SN menus, I get the
error "invalid user name and/or password". Not surprising since I
haven't found any place to add this from within the SN menus. What do
I do?

Thanks.

Re: [slim] Connecting to Squeezebox from SlimServer

2007-11-11 Thread ptorpey

Jason,

As you point out, the remote is not useable by the blind. Thus, I
don't use the remote, and only control the Squeezebox via SlimServer on
my PC.

Once in a while, I do try to play the last station which may have been
playing by first hitting the power button and then the play button.
Although this often workd, sometimes nothing will happen and (I am told
by a sighted person) that the display says "nothing playing". At that
point, I'm lost and there's nothing I can do except get someone else to
get the Squeezebox running again by using the remote.

Well, I guess I'll look forward to SlimServer 7 (whenever it is
available).

Thanks.

Re: [slim] Connecting to Squeezebox from SlimServer

2007-11-11 Thread ptorpey

Thanks for the reply.

So, since I am blind, is there a set of keystroeks which I can push on
the remote to reliably get to the main menu and the last item without
seeing the display as I'm navigating? I don't always know where in the
menus the last person left the Squeezebox.

Also, do you know approximately when SlimServer 7.0 will be out of beta
and officially released?

Thanks.

[slim] Connecting to Squeezebox from SlimServer

2007-11-10 Thread ptorpey

I sometimes have a problem connecting SlimServer to my Squeezebox. Here
is my setup:

1. SlimServer 6.5.4 running on a Windows XP PC
2. Squeezebox hooked to my stereo in the next room
3. Buffalo wireless router

Here is the problem...If I use the remote to set the Squeezebox to
"SlimServer", then, if I start SlimServer on the PC, I can run the
Squeezebox from my PC.

However, if the Squeezebox is set (from the remote) to use the
SqueezeNetwork, the Squeezebox properly plays internet radio (as it
should) through my router, but I cannot seem to get to and/or run the
Squeezebox from my PC by running SlimServer.

The reason this is a problem is that I am blind and cannot use the
remote. Sometimes, someone else sets the Squeezebox to play music via
the SqueezeNetwork and leaves it in this state after turning it off.
Not being able to use the remote, I try and run SlimServer from my PC
in order to control the Squeezebox, but SlimServer will say that my
player cannot be found. In this situation I need sighted assistance to
use the remote to get the Squeezebox to play through the SlimServer, and
then all is fine.

Is there some way out of this dilemma - i.e., is there some way I can
get the Squeezebox to be run by the SlimServer software from my PC no
matter what state it has been left in?

Alternately, is there some simple button I can push on the remote in
order to get the Squeezebox into a state which will enable it to be run
by the SlimServer software? Note: since the menus on the Squeezebox
display all wrap around, I can't use these menus reliably without
seeing them.

Thanks for any help / suggestions.

Re: [slim] Renaming Favorites Entry

BTW You can link you Squeezenetwork favorites into your Slimserver so
that you just have one list.

Cool! How do I do that? Thanks.

Thanks. This is what I was looking for. Your solution involves
changing the name from the PC (I presume). Is there a way that this
can be done soley using the remote (i.e., if the Squeezebox isn't
hooked to a SlimServer running on the PC but only through a router)?

Thanks.

Re: [slim] Renaming Favorites Entry

2007-10-30 Thread ptorpey

I am using version 6.5 on my Windows PC. I know how to modify the name
of a station placed in my PlayList on the PC, but the problem I have is
that, when using the remote with the Squeeze Network (not through my
PC), I would like to change the name of stations placed in Favorites
(since the default names are sometimes odd and not representative of
the station's real name).

[slim] Renaming Favorites Entry

2007-10-30 Thread ptorpey

Often, after saving a new internet station to the Favorites list using
the remote, the name of the new station in the Favorites list is
strange or not something that can easily be remembered and associated
with the real name of the station.

Is there a way of editing the name of the station in the Favorites list
so that the name can be changed to something more desireable?

Thanks.

[slim] Deleting Favorites from Remote

2007-09-14 Thread ptorpey

I am not running the Squeezebox through my computer but through my
router directly. I use the remote exclusively to run the Squeezebox.

I inadvertently added several internet radio stations to my Favorites
but don't know how to delete them. How is this done by using the
remote?

Also, for stations where I know the URL but can't find them in the list
of local stations on the remote, how can I add these manually?

Thanks.

1. A plug-in to be able to use the free aspects of Pandora

2. The ability to redirect audio going through the sound card to the
Squeezebox, or

3. The ability to direct particular audio streams from web sites to
the Squeezebox (for streams not currently supported).

[slim] Adding Favorites from Slim Server

2007-06-20 Thread ptorpey

Hi,

I am visually impaired and cannot easily use the remote for controlling
my Squeezebox.

Fortunately, the Slim Server software is readily accessible with my PC
screen reader and I can perform most functions from the PC.

One thing I have not been able to figure out how to do from Slim Server
is to add an Internet Radio station to my Favorites. Is this possible
from the PC?

Thanks.
