[slim] Logitech is messing up Squeezebox
NB: I write this because I have a deep respect for Slim Devices, your products, your customer relationship. I want you to know that from my point of view Logitech are making mistakes with this brand and they need to sort it out. At first I was disappointed with the 'app' fascination announced this morning - it's cargo cult stuff - and logitech isn't the only one guilty of trying to ape Apple - but it's certainly one that's really pushing things to a level of absurdity...music services as 'apps' appears to be taking the consumer proposition to a level of abstraction that is very confusing and unclear. The renaming of everything *again* also is a dangerous move - witness wikis, blogs, forums - essentially the sum total of effort that's been put into documenting, discussion, explaining, solving and developing the Squeezebox landscape all being cast out of relevancy in terms of search keywords etc... - some of the owned content can be updated, but the earned/user created content out there on the web will likely never get updated. I've also been concerned to see that www.squeezebox.com being broken for quite a few hours now... so I resorted to slimdevices.com which now bounces through to logitechsqueezebox.com (which is a unnecessarily complex domain name) - and I'm greeted with this hokey amateur 3d model thing? Does no-one at logitech remember the MS Office Paperclip? Seriously. The smart, intelligent, innovative brand that Squeezebox is, is now starting to behave in hokey, cheap, bewildered and confusing manner. It feels horrible. I'm sad to see this happen. I realise that much of this is locked and loaded, fair enough, but please at least shut down the 3d model thing - it's laughable... :( -- rh2600 Squeezebox Duet Receiver wired to router Controller wifi'd to router XP SqueezeCenter wired to router Router: D-link DSL-G604T-GenII ADSL Wifi rh2600's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11564 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=68654 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Pski It was a grumpy start to my day, granted, but I promise, I'm not made up. I was off the mark with the domain complaint. I still stand by the 'apps' cargo cult complaint, and yes I too care deeply about the community - in particularly these forums and wiki, which have now taken a blow in terms of relevancy as people will now search for questions about squeezebox server and not SC/Squeezecenter. Witness the same old questions resurfacing... I may be a junior member, but I've taken the time to submit bugs and assist other customers IRL with purchasing and configuring their SBs. I just think it's a shame that Logitech's marketing nous is clearly not at the level of the fantastic Slim Devices that I love. -- rh2600 Squeezebox Duet Receiver wired to router Controller wifi'd to router XP SqueezeCenter wired to router Router: D-link DSL-G604T-GenII ADSL Wifi rh2600's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11564 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=68654 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Distortion during loud tracks - my amp is too sensitive - what to do?
I've attached some photos of the amp, and the page from the manual so you can see I ain't making this up or getting confused about the phono input. So the Preamp Volume Control isn't going to do what I need? This amp is only about 10 years old - so I'm a little suprised it can't handle a standard input from a CD player... +---+ |Filename: IMG3.jpg | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=6266| +---+ -- rh2600 Squeezebox Duet Receiver wired to router Controller wifi'd to router XP SqueezeCenter wired to router Router: D-link DSL-G604T-GenII ADSL Wifi rh2600's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11564 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=55023 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Distortion during loud tracks - my amp is too sensitive - what to do?
I've turned off volume control, and RG on my SB3. My marantz SR-45 had a tendancy to distort audio coming from its paired CD player - which I used to address via it's own volume control. Anyway, its evident that my amp is too sensitive for the Sb3 outputs too. The specs for my amp say: Input sensitivity - 185mV/47#8486;. I assume I need to adjust the Preamp Volume Control, but does anyone know how to calculate exactly how much? Re: [slim] When Duet controller can support Chinese Characters ??
I'm just popping this thread, because I too find it quite disappointing that the Duet currently doesnot have an asian character set included, or at least a very easy way to deploy specific character sets to the duet so that I can select what I want within the storage limits. If there isn't an opensource font available, surely Logitech have rights to a commercial one hanging around, or worst case Slim could get one made. I regard it as pretty important - as with other users, my previous experience with Slim products, it never crossed my mind that the Duet wouldn't support this. [slim] Duet receiver not remembering volume 100% setting
So I don't want to use my receiver for volume control... But I'm getting bored of having to go into the preferences every time to re-set it...what's up? Is it me shutting down the controller or something? -- rh2600 Squeezebox Duet Receiver wired to router Controller wifi'd to router XP SqueezeCenter wired to router Router: D-link DSL-G604T-GenII ADSL Wifi rh2600's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11564 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51513 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
