Sadly MySB.com lacking https support means diminishing returns for playable streams, but there are still many streams available with no LMS or computer. Try out the Radionomy and ShoutCast apps on MySB.com which delivers thousands of MySB.com http streams covering any genre out there. ShoutCast even has a bitrate filter feature on MySB.com (thank you Michael Harger) so you can filter out the lower quality streams. Mine is set to 192k so any ShoutCast menu selections or searches only show me streams of 192k or greater (192k thru 320k), and I am presented with hundreds of selections to choose from. It's not going to make your MySB.com usage as valuable as it used to be. Just offering some MySB.com usage ideas to lesson the pain a bit and still get some value out of your SB hardware players. ---- toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114874 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I think the player is immediately reconnecting back to MySB.com therefore you never have the Delete button option. Another way to resolve (if the new owner refuses to do their own Factory Reset) is simply to coordinate a day and time where the new owner powers off the Radio. Complete power OFF, not just in standby. I'd just change the network name & encryption & passcode on new router to what was on old router I've been through three routers in last 15 years or so and none of my devices have needed to be changed or even know they are connected to a different router. Much easier to change one device (router) than to change a dozen individual network devices. Why can't you change such setup on the new router? I'm sure it's possible. StereoXL better explained and experiences (post 7 and beyond) https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?66609-Just-unpack-my-new-Boom-and-first-issue!&highlight=enhancer StereoXL explained (from SB Boom white paper) StereoXL Technology StereoXL is a proprietary stereo expansion technology developed by Logitech audio engineers. It provides a significantly enhanced stereo sound field, expanding the sound stage beyond the physical extents of the speakers themselves. I have always been wary of this type of processing for fear that it would wreck the audio quality in order to achieve the effect of stereo widening. However, once the engineers from the Logitech Audio business unit helped implement StereoXL in the Squeezebox Boom, the results were very surprising. The audio quality wasnt diminished at all, but the sound seems to come from everywhere. That said it can be overdone, and the quality depends on the track used and the encoding used. In order to allow for varying user preferences, and track encodings there are 3 settings for StereoXL. The best one is typically in the middle (medium). ---- toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109433 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I only programmed On/Off and arrows (L, R, Up, Down) and Enter. Convenient to need only one remote for AVR + SB3 usage. Original SB3 remote is my backup remote, put away with no batteries. If your players are an SB3 or Boom you can use a JVC_DVD remote (or a universal remote programmed for JVC_DVD) as the basic commands are the same. Many stations/networks restrict or prohibit listening outside of their geographic region. Content Licensing issues and added cost of server capacity to destinations which cannot participate in their advertisers products/services doesn’t make financial sense. iHeartRadio on SqueezeBox….. Highly unlikely either party (iHeartRadio or Logitech) want to spend time negotiating licensing contracts for a long since discontinued product line that requires access to an online server (MySB.com) which may be discontinued tomorrow. If you want iHeartRadio on your Radio your only option is to switch to UE Smart Radio firmware. Buying SqueezeBox from Logitech…… never happen and has been discussed ad nauseum in here. toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=108288 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Logitech should resurrect squeezebox
The story goes much deeper than well ever know. I'm sure Michael Herger knows all the dirt but is unable say so publicly. ;) What little we do know . Soon after Logitech acquired SlimDevices there was a major reshuffling of managers and department personnel at Logitech. The few individuals at Logitech that had even the slightest clue and interest in SlmDevices and its ecosystem were shuffled around and I suspect eventually even out of Logitech. Some of the core SlimDevices personel and developers were also cycled out. A couple more corporate reshufflings and the entire SqueezeBox idea became the red headed step child at Logitech. First ignored, then diminished, finally axed all together. They struggled to market it properly as well. The same brand stores (like a Best Buy) in different regions had the SB players in different product/shelf categories. Some displayed them in the computer speakers area, others in the keyboard/mouse area, some others still in the TV/stereo area. Some had stock, some didnt, some with stock did not know what shelf to find them on, and if found coudlnt explain what it was capable of or how it worked. It was a mess. I suspect various regional Logitech reps with varying degree of knowledge and interest of the SB product had a lot to do with its confusing product placement issues. A niche product for (mostly) home stereo use being marketed by a behemouth keyboard/mouse conglomerate in a fast growing consumer environment that wanted on demand music services on their phones with earbuds and satisfied with compressed audio over BlueTooth (also absent on SB devices) . Was a recipe for disaster. For SlimDevices it was the perfect time to sell. Taking into account Logitechs business model it was the wrong time for Logitech to buy. toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107821 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Exactly. Those and numerous other reasons are why it is a dead product. *WE* all love them and *WE* get/use the SB advantages. But the mass market could care less, and for very understandable reasons. In a world of streaming compressed music on a mobile device listened to via tiny ear buds or tiny BT speakers, the SB experience is irrelevant to the mass majority. The niche market for anything even remotely close to SB is saturated with big name players (Sonos & Bose). The tweakers will settle for PICore/MicroPC as SB player replacements. But would/could Logitech even sell or license the technology is a silly question that has been raked over the coals to the point of obsurdity. It simply won't happen if they would, and would not happen if they could. It's dead baby. dead. :) toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107821 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Presets are per player and are set by the user. There are similarities because the stations and menu items under Internet Radio (or Radio) are all handled by TuneIn. Re: [slim] slim devices
Three most common issues/fixes for SB3: 1. WiFi card (as tcutting suggests) 2. PSU 3. solder joint at power input 1 and 2 are simple user replacements (you'll need torx screw driver to open the case for WiFi card). 3 requires solder experience obviously. Your symptoms seem to suggest one of these easy fixes. PSU might be functioning but damaged therefore not sending enough power to unit but enough to light the internal red LED. Beyond those likely means board level diagnosis & repair, few woulf tackle it and probably cost more than simply buying a complete used unit. ---- toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107272 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] TIDAL/MQA is 2016
I agree Mnyb. MQA will remain a niche market for the very few who might care and are willing to buy the hardware and/or install the software to even be able to utilize it. Plus the added data usage cost that fewer still will be willing to pay for. Most streaming is to small portable devices using either ear buds or BlueTooth speakers and neither will really benefit from audiophile formats (real or perceived). The much smaller segment of the market that stream to a full stereo system with even decent quality gear where an MQA scheme *might* be a benefit is an extremely small slice of the audio market. I think MQA will just be added to the long list of failed formats in a market with still too many formats and formats that are just fine for 95% of the market. A better mouse trap doesnt always succeed if the existing and simpler mouse traps are catching plenty of mice with no additional cost or complications. toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104878 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] IR Blaster help needed
Dunno about config files. I assume the Transporter simply takes any IR input then transmits it back out via the IR Out port. If that requires special config files ya got me. You should just need one of these (below). That link is a dual head, but you can get a single head for just one device. There is no training as you describe. It just re-emits any/all IR signals back out through the port & attached cable/eye. The device(s) to which the "eye" is attached to will respond per the IR input. If you are sending the Marantz code it will respond. If you are sending say a Sony code the Marantz will ignore it as it has no idea what the Sony codes mean. You simply attach the "eye" over the IR input of the device(s) via it's double sided clear sticky-tape. http://www.sears.com/tnp-products-tnp-ir-emitter-extender-extension-cable/p-SPM9355999517 ---- toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105870 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I'm equally shocked as I am happy they kept MySB.com running this long. :) ---- toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105647 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Updating the firmware on older Logitech units.
The player will prompt you to update which you can accept or not. Just accept it and let it do it's thing. toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105682 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: Wifi WLAN Network problems Attempt to summarize the problem
Most of the suggested WiFi "tweaks" are for general WiFi use, regardless of the device. They are more of a best practices guide for any WiFi device or usage. Is your WiFi name unique to only your network? Using only fixed ch's and only ch 1 or 6 or 11? Your chosen ch shows no other (or very weak signal) surrounding nearby WiFi's on that same ch? ---- toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105634 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Receiver Optimal Orientation?
Garage have the foil covered insulation in the walls? I've never owned a Duet but I can see where by it's design the WiFi antenna is probably more horizontal oriented? Can you try the Receiver standing on it's side, possibly giving it's antenna a better vertical orientation? ---- toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105597 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Squeezebox stopped working
Reboot router then reboot SB3. Check IP #'s of LMS and SB3 player, make sure they are on the same network/subnet? Sounds like a powerline adapter issue. toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105594 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] LMS and Pandora
Yeah, should rephrase that (I will above). The 192k streams will get downsampled to 24/48 anyway so there is no real benefit to getting the 192k streams. toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105581 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

If one input is in Sync (or much closer Sync) than the other, then that input is delayed. AVR is likely doing additional processing. But I agree with you, removing Sync all together to isolate the issue. ---- toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105373 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
