Sure, no problem! And there are several ways you can get rid of it: 1) Throw out your Logitech equipment (apparantly it hasn't earned the right to be in your living room) 2) Scratch off the logo like someone suggested I'm not claiming that my surround set can compete with yours - it's low-end, but I think it sounds pretty good for a low-end product and it has a very small "footprint" with high WAF - in my case the alternative was built-in tv speakers since there's no room for a "real" amplifier by the TV:-) What i am trying to point out is that you are living in denial. Re: [slim] New hardware without the Logitech logo ?
There is some truth in the associations that product and manufacturer's names give to things. People don't just buy products because they are the most functional or sensible to purchase. Advertisers and marketing people know this. After all, you don't see a Ford badge on a Volvo or a Jaguar ( OK, it should now say Tata of India!). The vehicle would still be of the same quality, but the badge would downgrade it. In fact, even the slightest association with Ford in the US knocked the sales of some Jaguar cars. -- Lesu Lesu's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15321 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51752 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Maybe I just don't get it, or you are really trying to be hard headed or just keep the thread alive. I truly hope that you were not excepting a call from Logitech to see if it was OK to ask for your opinion and use your e-mail address to do the asking?! Facts: 1) You gave your e-mail address to Slim Devices. 2) Logitech bought Slim Devices 3) The banner at the top of this page says, "Slim Devices, A Logitech Company" 4) Logitech now owns Slim Devices, lock, stock and barrels that includes all info given to Slim Devices over the years to include your e-mail address. 5) Logitech, within limits, can use the info given to Slim Devices as it now sees fit as it is now the owner and caretaker of that information. 6) There was no choice. Choice is not part of this equation. Are you really that surprised that the new owner would like to get your opinion of how Slim Devices has performed for you? You should be pleased that the new bigger company cares enough to ask "you" for your opinion on something they really have no stock in because it was from the Slim Devices time line. To me it shows that they have stock and care about the original customer base that Slim Devices developed. Personally it seems to be a good fit. Two new products in under a year (granted the Duet was already being developed) and products being sold at Big Box Stores can only be seen as progress. Logitech left the same people in charge (why interfere with a good thing) and left the product line intact. I was worried that Logitech might do what other companies do after an acquisition, try to recover the investment immediately by downsizing product lines to the minimum most profitable IE say goodbye to the limited production Transporter. They have made acquisitons before and are smarter then that. They know they need to keep the flagship no holes barred ultimate Network Music Player in the product line. -- iPhone *iPhone* 'Last.FM' (http://www.last.fm/user/mephone) Media Room: Transporter, VTL TL-6.5 Signature Pre-Amp, Ayre MX-R Mono's, Vandersteen Quatro, VeraStarr 6.4SE 6-channel Amp, VCC-5 Reference Center, four VSM-1 Signatures, Runco RS 900 CineWide AutoScope 2.35:1 Living Room: Duet, ADCOM GTP-870HD, Cinepro 3K6SE III Gold, Vandersteen Model 3A Signature, Two 2Wq subs, VCC-2, Two VSM-1 Kitchen: Squeezebox BOOM Bedroom: SB3, GFR-700HD, Thiel 2.3, Second Boom Home Office: SB3, NAD C370, two VSM-1 Home Gym: SB3, Parasound Vamp v.3, Thiel PowerPoint 1.2 Mobile: SB3, Audioengine A5 iPhone's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13622 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51752 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

The brand and logo issue is a minor gripe, to be sure. :) The Logitech purchase of SD is a very smart move on their part. With the help of SD innovative products and streaming/server software we all hope the Logitech name becomes as serious a name in audio as Apple is. But it's the interim period that might be a bit awkward. Imagine if Microsoft or IBM had purchased SD? Both well respected industry leaders in the computer realm like Logitech, but neither would be taken very seriously for audio purposes initially. In time a device by any name (Microsoft, IBM, Logitech, Fisher Price) would be taken seriously in any circles if they kept the quality and innovation over an extended period of time. -- toby10 toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51752 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Yes, we are, well, I am. Re: [slim] New hardware without the Logitech logo ?
Great players anyhow and they keep on getting better. So logi has so far proved to be god owner that develops it's asset. But the logitech's logo and colorscheme is ugly. Couldn't slim get themselves bought by a company with nicer logo ;-) I like the fact the logitech logo is in discret black and white on my controller. The Receiver looks nice to with the logo in relief black in black subtle, looks nice. what IS the logitech logo anyway ? it's looks like an e-coli under microscope :-) Big companies usually have some "meaning" built in to their logo's ? -- Mnyb Mnyb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4143 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51752 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] New hardware without the Logitech logo ?
Branding stuff. Logitech probably bought SlimDevices and assimilated the brand name because over time they want to be known for more innovative technology than they have been up to now. If they crank out great products it will become the case after a while. If I had been Logitech, for now I'd kept the SlimDevices brand and added "A Logitech Company" in the back, discreetly... as they do on top of this very web page... -- pablolie pablolie's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3816 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51752 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] New hardware without the Logitech logo ?
Agreeance. I bought my Squeezebox last September and got it through Amazon. Both the 'box and the remote have "Slim Devices" printed. I was glad because I was thinking they both would say "Logitech." "Slim Devices" is cool. Logitech .. not so much. It might as well say "Walmart." Logitech, to me, makes mice and keyboards.
