[slim] RadioIO Dropping Out Today

2015-02-13 Thread earthbased

I cannot play RadioIO as it plays for some seconds then stops. Seems a
server issue on their end as other non-RadioIO stations play fine. Time
to jettison RadioIO?

Re: [slim] RadioIO Pricing

2011-12-09 Thread wpf7

I agree. I tried out a RadioIO sub for two months. The most irritating
thing for a sub is the frequent talking of each station DJ even though
their subscription advertising promised interruption-free music. I
inquired about this with them crickets. I cancelled and moved
to Rhapsody.

[slim] RadioIO Pricing

2011-12-08 Thread MeSue

I got my first Squeezebox more then 6 years ago, and I just got around
to checking out RadioIO last night. First impression... great stations,
awful commercials! So I checked out their site today to see what prices
were like for ad-free. Does anyone else think their prices are way too
high? The Audiophile subscription is $10 a month for less then 100
stations. Who pays that when you can get Rhapsody, MOG, Slacker, or
Spotify which gives you on-demand music PLUS hundreds of stations and
better streaming quality?

It's a new RadioIo feature. They have detected that you've exhausted
your monthly allocation of Greatful Dead. Government studies have
shown that too much Greatful Dead is harmful to your health. For your
safety, you need to abstain until the start of the next monthly cycle.

Back to serious mode, this is really strange - I have no idea why this

[slim] Radioio - DNS / Connection problems

2010-11-08 Thread mobileadam

Hi,

I've posted before about the problems I have trying to stream the CF
channels from Radioio but I've found it to be getting worse and haven't
been able to connect for the last 24 hours without getting an error
message about the IP / URL address.

Strangely (and this is the main reason I am posting again) is that my
preset buttons on the Radio are set for a couple of Radioio channels
and these ALWAYS work regardless of the problems I am having via the
'app'. Even the same channel fails to resolve the url on the app but
works when using the preset button. According to the 'more information'
option the stream adress on the preset is something like
http://76.76.23.81:8260:listen.pls while the error message indicates
through the 'app' selection the address of
'streampoint.radioio.com/streams/30/ etc'.

Radioio texh support tell me that they are still investigating but it
doesn't happen to everybody nor at the same time so I guess it is
pretty impossible to track down. Is there anyway the 'app' can use the
ip addresses as an alternative? or would is be possible to have the
address list for the channels and we then add them manually until they
change?

Thanks

Adam

I should also ask whether there is another alternative to Radioio as I
like being able to choose for a wide variety of genres.

Cheers

Re: [slim] Radioio - DNS / Connection problems

2010-11-08 Thread toby10

There are many alternatives. I'd suggest starting with Internet Radio
Music Internet Only
Here you will see numerous internet networks each offering numerous
genres.

There is also the Apps for Soma, Digitally Imported, Sky, Radionomy,
RadioTime.
Then there are the free Music Services via Apps like Last.fm, Slacker,
Pandora. (your location may restrict access to such services)
I'd also recommend the ShoutCast App which hosts tens of thousands of
streams, searchable by Genre.

2009-12-06 Thread Mike Anderson

I've been in touch with the tech support people at RadioIO. I'm told
they rebooted the servers and re-started the streams, but I'm still
hearing skips today.

It's very frustrating, because they don't hear them, even listening
through a Squeezebox apparently...

It might help if other people here dropped them an email to confirm the
problem.

It might be worth posting Radioio issues to their forum at
http://www.radioio.com/phpbb/
There is a specific sub-forum for Logitech.
It does not appear to be that well used, but the RadioIO guys do seem
to respond.

I had to re-register after their site upgrade a few weeks ago.
New subscription system did not migrate users 100%.

I also confirmed with them that they will continue to stream their
channels to Logitech at 128k. This means we effectively get their
ioBasic subscription for free ($.99/month, $9.99/year) via Logitech.
Nice.

Re: [slim] RadioIO - Skips in music?

2009-11-30 Thread cailloux

I think some of the problems are in the original data; I had some
logging on for the past few minutes and just heard a pause (about
500ms). The logs don't show any problem with the stream and the buffer
remained constant.

I wonder if RadioIO or Slim/Logitech made a change; I swear that I was
buffering 2.6 seconds last night, but I am now buffering 8.8 seconds. I
saw that there is a discussion in the forum regarding skips in Rhapsody.
(I made no changes between last night and today.)

I'll do some more monitoring later tonight (East Coast Time) with
logging turned on to see if there is anything obvious that causes the
issue.

[slim] RadioIO - Skips in music?

2009-11-26 Thread Mike Anderson

I'm listening to Radioio on a Squeezebox. I've paid for the audiophile
channels.

Once every several minutes or so, I hear a short skip in the music --
not unlike what you used to hear on a phonograph when the needle skipped
on an album (just not as regular and often).

I've heard it on Luxe, Chill Lounge, and probably other channels.

Anybody else getting these?

I have intermittant problems with the Real Jazz stream. Sometimes my
Boom display just says file not found, yet when I try it the next day
- after making no changes whatsoever to any settings - it works again.
Also like Mike, accessing through Staff Picks, has a higher success rate
. . (though not flawless, for me at any rate).

Plus I have the problem of the remote host resetting the connection -
which is a major reason why my wife hasn't accepted internet radio. I've
tried with a playlist of several instances of a station, set to repeat,
but it nearly always just stops after a random period of time between a
couple of minutes and, say half an hour. I just restart it, but my
wife's given up using it . . .

Re: [slim] RadioIO soundpass on Squeezecenter?

2008-11-20 Thread joeriz

I just wantd to follow up on this. I seem to have 'solved' the problem
but I can't say exactly WHY it works nor do I know if the solution will
stick.

From one of my Squeezeboxes, I tried deleting one of my RadioIO
favorties (which was still playing the old commercial stream) and then
went back through the menu (Internet RadioRadioIO, etc.) and tried to
play the station and also to re-save it as a favorite. This did not
work...I was still getting the commercial stream. Also, I noticed that
when I went to RadioIO via the menu the first thing that would pop up
under RadioIO was the mesaage to 'Go to RadioIO.com to sign up for a
soundpass...'. However, I noticed that I did NOT get this message when
in SN, only when in SC.

So, on a lark, I went down to my PC and got into SC and started messing
around. I went into 'Favorites' and deleted my RadioIO station favorite
and then added it back by re-selecting it from the RadioIO menu. I
noticed that when I clicked on the link that it gave me when I added it
into favorties it was the stream with 'CF' (Commercial Free) in it.
Sure enough, went back to both my Squeezeboxes and my Transporter and,
viola, commercial free in SC.

I have absolutely no idea why this worked but it did. We'll see if it
sticks.

Joe

2008-11-19 Thread andyg

Sorry, your account seems fine to me. I have no problems with SC and my
RadioIO account, so I don't know what could be wrong.

If you want, you can enable the following debug options and email me a
log to andy at slimdevices.com. (Don't paste it here.)

network.squeezenetwork
network.asynchttp
scan.scanner
player.streaming.direct

Enable these and then navigate to Internet Radio - RadioIO and play
the first station (70s Rock).

Re: [slim] RadioIO soundpass on Squeezecenter?

2008-11-19 Thread cruz123

I seem to have the same issue. I cannot access the commercial free (CF)
streams through the player directly, i.e. internet radio radioio.I
can access the CF streams via SC and SN. For example, if I go to
browse in SN and pull up the Radioio station list, I can click on
play and the CF stream will play. I can then save the CF stream in my
Favorites using the player remote. However, if I don't start the stream
playing first and just click on add to favorites in SN, it saves the
non-CF stream. Weird.

Yes, SC has my SN login information. Yes, I am playing from Internet

So it shouldn't matter that my SN account and my RadioIO account names

[slim] RadioIO soundpass on Squeezecenter?

2008-11-17 Thread joeriz

I recently signed up for a soundpass with RadioIO and have entered my
account info in Squeezenetwork (SN). I can use the soundpass just fine
when logged into SN. However, I am not getting the commercial-free
stream when using Squeezecenter (SC).

Has anyone else had this problem recently? The only thing I can think
might be wrong is that my RadioIO account name (joeriz) does not match
my SN account (my e-mail address). If it is a requirement that they
match, it wasn't made clear. According to the 'help' screen at RadioIO
I can not change my account name. And, as far as I can tell, on SN it
has to be my e-mail address.

I suppose SC does not have the ability to grab my RadioIO account name
from SN...?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Joe

Re: [slim] RadioIO Station Order

2008-09-17 Thread ZeddZull

I would think that the appropriate place to do the sort would be on
SqueezeNetwork or SqueezeCenter side, not from the feed. Sorting the
feed names is more a display function than a data function. My guess
is that the current routine is outputting the feed names as it reads
the XML. If the entire XML data file was read first, then sorting
before output would be almost trivial to accomplish using the perl sort
function.

Another minor technical glitch is a couple of the RadioIO streams do

Yet the same link when played in WinAmp shows proper 128k bitrate.
Might be an SC7 issue.

This is most likely a bandwith problem, somewhere on the Internet path
between radioio and your slimserver.

If the connection you get from your ISP is slow (say, less than 1
megabit per second) the problem may well be there. You can check that
using Speedtest:

Re: [slim] RadioIO

2007-09-15 Thread billingsgate

I have e-mailed various addresses at radioio to report this issue of the
annoying commercials over the last several days. I just tried again. I
hope Greg will fix the commercial-free streams for my Soundpass
membership.

I note that things are really changing at radioio. Another host has
left (World stream) apparently and been replaced by someone who handles
several other streams (and who is, I believe, leading those other
streams fast in the direction of middle-of-the-road pop hits rather
than the intelligent alternative radioio boasts of being).

I've been a radioio listener for 5 years. Seems that success is perhaps
spoiling them.

I´ve tried to bypass this trought the SqueezeNetwork , but when i shut

the radio station alarm because it can not connect automaticly to the
