After 4 reboots the problem went away, so I guess it was not the
slimserver that was having issues, however, the problem started about
the time I has having problems with my DNS server and and stopped after
my DNS server was fixed. I cannot say if these where related events.

[slim] Re: slimserver 6.2.2 on windows xp fails to start as a service

2006-06-05 Thread EnochLight

Thanks for the update. I couldn't get it to start, no matter how many
reboots. Then again, I have a fresh system that I just reformatted so
it couldn't be anything that was left from an old uninstall or
something.

At any rate, I was able to get the 6.3 maintenance release to work - I
just don't know if it is officially supported.

*shrugs*

[slim] Re: SlimServer 6.2.2 horror - move to beta or back to 6.2.1?

2006-05-29 Thread jodrell

I've taken a look over both of those pages but it's not quite what I'm
seeing . . . my iTunes library has about 10 playlists in it but
SlimServer doesn't seem to be seeing any of them - I have no playlists
showing on the Squeezebox or on the web interface (as opposed to people
having empty playlists)

I've tried several settings on the iTunes page on the Server settings
where you can set the location of the Library.xml file or the location
on the music itself but no joy from any of them.

jodrell, If you upgrade / downgrade to / from 6.5 to any other version -
it is worth deleting your database slimserversql.db file entirely before
doing the upgrade / downgrade.

For what it's worth, I'm very happy with 6.3 currently (although it's
still pre-release).

I have been an avid user of Slimserver for almost 2 years, but my recent
upgrade from 6.1 to 6.2.2 has caused my itunes playlists to lose their

No amount of rescans etc brings the playlist contents to life.
Nothing else has changed or been upgraded during the upgrade process.

Any ideas?

I had a similar issue. I deleted the .pref file and reinstalled 6.2.1
which still works. It did cause some strange issues with my SB2

for problems playing files, go into server settings-debugging.
check d_source, click change
click the link at the end of the text at the top to open a browser
window for the log.
try playing the file. The log will show how the server is trying to
play the file, whether it is native playback (command: -) or some
combination of flac/lame, etc. It will also show any errors when
reading the file contents.

feel free to post sections of that log here if it doesn't seem clear to you.

Hi Kevin
6.2.2 is a beta version (or latest nightly)containint bug fixes and
enhancements to 6.2.1. The stable version is 6.2.1 - which is linked
directly from the home page of SLimdevices. There is also the bleeding
edge beta, 6.5b.

Hope that clears things up a bit.

I too am having problems with 6.2.2 with a SB1 SB2 connected to it.
My music collection is almost all ogg and flac with a few mp3. My SB1
will not make a sound for any of them. I have also taken the step of
disconnecting SB2 and then restarting slimserver to see if there may be
some confusion over which one is the SB1.

SB1 display was acting like it is playing something. At the time the
song is over (not that you can hear it to confirm) the next song in the
list is displayed.

c). Oggvorbis Flac sox/flacWhich I have to uncheck to enable SB2

I have even stripped the file types down to minimum i.e. I use mostly
flac , then Wav, Ogg, and mp3...same results!

When using 6.02, I did not have to adjust the server file types at

2005-11-25 Thread JMACLAN

Well, I`ve tried lots of things to get to the root of the problem with
6.2.2, and have given up meantime.
Unfortunately whereas previously if I reverted to the older version of
slimserver (6.02) all of my SB`s would play all required files, now my
3 SB1`s will still not play flac files!
The firmware is the current version 40, so I suspect if I could roll
back the version to the earlier one, this might restore things .
So, is there a way to source the previous firmware version and roll
back the current version.Otherwise I`m up the creek without a paddle!

My SB1-G plays my flac files fine, obviously converted to wav on the
server. Also using 6.2.2 and firmware 40 (and WinXP SP2) so I'd try
uninstalling and reinstalling first. Firmware 40 has been around for a
while now, I'm sure there'd be a lot more people complaining if it
were the cause of your problems.

I don't think the SB1 can play flac natively, so it will need a conversion
from either FLAC - WAV or FLAC - MP3 enabled in the file types. The SB2
*can* play FLAC, so doesn't need a conversion enabled.

Worth a check...
