I've thought about getting a pair several times and their web page definitely fits that description. I agree with the OP that the ones intended for making games go boom and emails go ding are not very good for music. Just tried it out with my computer's kenwood speakers, in fact, sounds nasty even though they sound okay when playing files from the soundcard. But I presume the Edirol's sound decent hooked both to the Squeezebox and the computer? Kevin -- Kevin O. I bought two pairs of Klipsch Promedia 2.0 speakers, one for the SB3 in the kitchen and the other for the family PC. These are not primary listening zones so I preferred to do without the extra space of a subwoofer. Here is the link to the speakers from the retailer from which I bought them (along with my two SB3s) 'Digimania.be' (http://www.digimania.be/en/prod_det.asp?ProductID=672) The bass response on them is actually really good for what they are and I'm more than happy with them. -- Cams Cams's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3302 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=20775 ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

From a used or new retailer, buy an amp and 2 speakers. The speakers should be 2-way or more. You don't have to spend a lot. You may want to avoid computer speaker systems, due to their cheapness, distorted bass, and lack of frequency response. No cheap computer audio system can compete with a basic amp/receiver and two decent speakers. Running the signal from your computer will most likely require a simple 1/8 to RCA cable that you can run right into the amp. The Squeezebox comes with the appropriate cable to hook into a stereo. -- slimdemage slimdemage's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3606 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=20775 ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

I use the Altec Lansing IM7 when I need a small set of speakers. It was designed for an ipod but it works fine with almost any source. I got it!!Self powered, no sub... http://www.klipsch.com/product/product.aspx?cid=876 Klispsch!! OR... what I'm using in my bedroom is the speakers that came with my plasma and a Sonic T-Amp (got mine from Thinkgeek.com for $30) with a 12V 1500mA adapter for power. It only outputs 15W a channel but that's enough to drive the speakers for background sound. You can't go wrong with either setup it fits your budget while still being relatively pleasing. -- notanatheist notanatheist's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2642 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=20775 ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
