what did r33025 fix? i have 2 booms and a transporter, and they seem
to be working fine. however, i also have a radio, and it's behaving a
bit wonky, screen won't auto-dim, for instance, and when an alarm goes
off, you can't scroll from snooze to off.

This problem -
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showpost.php?p=647832postcount=4 (and
reported elsewhere by me over the last week or so) - where Squeezebox
Server would crash on resizing artwork on a PPC Mac. It meant that I
couldn't upgrade beyond v7.5.6 because every time I tried to play music
on my Touch, the server crashed.

It doesn't now - and the changing library size reported by others
doesn't seem to be an issue for me - so I'm happy. :-)

I forgot to mention that my recent problems were caused by Logitech's
servers playing up. The mysqueezebox.com page was either very slow or
often came up with a 'Bad Gateway' error when trying to load using a
web browser. Thankfully everything was back to normal by Monday
morning.

I think we could call this the redundant thread thread.

7.6.0 was so far from being ready for release that it boggles the mind.
7.6.1 has had some _major_ fixes areadly applied and it's STILL so far
from being ready for release that it's not funny.

SW is never perfect, its constantly needing improvement. However, I
would agree. 7.6.0 was not ready -- not even close. Like so many
organizations, it seems the squeezebox development community is
scattered around the globe. Still, it all has to come together and go
through some kind of rigorous testing before release. Does that happen?
It seems these gross library scanning issues would be caught by an even
very modest amount of validation testing.

So what is going to be done differently before the next release is
deemed ready?

Okay, I trust your judgement. It's hard to tell when there are so many
threads, especially when this thread has less posts than the 7.6 is
fine for me thread.

Hopefully, that's the last of my significant problems with 7.6 sorted,
and my Radios will stop turning themselves on.

I have three Radios. Two out of three firmware updates had problems. I
got the Unable to download update, please retry or contact support
screen, repeatedly, and couldn't cancel the update with the Back or
Home buttons. Rebooting the Radios by holding the power button fixed
it, and all three are OK. Please.

Now I think I understand my problems with 7.6.1 I'll do that here as

I've tried 7.6.1r33004 on a PPC Mac running OS X 10.5.8.

I can play anything on my Squeezebox Classic (i.e. with a VFD that

Does anyone know how to prevent artwork from being displayed other than
by deleting it all? I can't see a setting in the web interface.

Re: [slim] The 7.6.x lingering issues thread

2011-08-07 Thread Nick_G

Aaaagh!

I've been trying to sort out a new problem this evening, in that on
some streams the '+' (More Info) button wasn't working ('Couldn't
connect to a non http address' error or something like that). So I
updated to the new nightly build and downloaded it onto the Mac. The
Squeezebox didn't see the update as it was pointing to
mysqueezebox.com. So I switched libraries to the Mac and it detected a
new download of SBS (still labelled 7.6.0 followed by a build no -
possibly the same one it was already using on mysqueezebox.com).

It all works beautifully when using the Mac LAN but can I get get it
back to point to mysqueezebox.com? Can I hell! If I choose 'Favourites'
or 'My Music' when the Mac is asleep it still tries to connect to the
LAN. It then prompts me to either try again or switch libraries. If I
choose the latter it tries to connect to the LAN again! So I can now
only use the Squeezebox when the computer is awake, although it will
continue to play any internet streams that are running. Not very
helpful. I'm sure in the past it switched over to mysqueezebox.com.

Any ideas on how to get it pointing back there so I can run it
independently of the Mac again?

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Regards,
Nick

Re: [slim] The 7.6.x lingering issues thread

2011-08-07 Thread Nick_G

Found something in the Advanced menu mentioning an update for SBS Server
on mysqueezebox.com, so downloaded it. When it restarted it prompted me
with a message saying that a new download was available (the same one)!
So I let it carry on and download it again and when it restarted for a
second time I chose 'Favourites'. Couldn't find them so it then
switched to mysqueezebox.com (hooray!) and appeared to connect although
some of the icons were grey squares. Something's gone wrong though as it
just says 'can't connect - failed to parse' if I try to go to
Favourites. The whole thing is behaving as thought it's FUBARed.

Why can't we have the ability to just be able to do all this from the
Squeezebox itself and not have to keep switching libraries? I wonder if
the fact that it sees different things depending on whether it's using
the LAN or the WAN has confused it by downloading updates multiple
times and it has now screwed something up?

Next time I'm going to wait until the Squeezebox prompts me for an
update. It's the only way to keep things working properly.
