I forgot to mention that my recent problems were caused by Logitech's servers playing up. I think we could call this the redundant thread thread. 7.6.0 was so far from being ready for release that it boggles the mind. 7.6.1 has had some _major_ fixes areadly applied and it's STILL so far from being ready for release that it's not funny. -- JJZolx JJZolx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89395 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] The 7.6.x lingering issues thread
SW is never perfect, its constantly needing improvement. However, I would agree. 7.6.0 was not ready -- not even close. Like so many organizations, it seems the squeezebox development community is scattered around the globe. Still, it all has to come together and go through some kind of rigorous testing before release. Does that happen? It seems these gross library scanning issues would be caught by an even very modest amount of validation testing. So what is going to be done differently before the next release is deemed ready? -- Zten Zten's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1810 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89395 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Hopefully, that's the last of my significant problems with 7.6 sorted, and my Radios will stop turning themselves on. I have three Radios. Two out of three firmware updates had problems. I got the Unable to download update, please retry or contact support screen, repeatedly, and couldn't cancel the update with the Back or Home buttons. Rebooting the Radios by holding the power button fixed it, and all three are OK. Re: [slim] The 7.6.x lingering issues thread
Aaaagh! I've been trying to sort out a new problem this evening, in that on some streams the '+' (More Info) button wasn't working ('Couldn't connect to a non http address' error or something like that). So I updated to the new nightly build and downloaded it onto the Mac. The Squeezebox didn't see the update as it was pointing to mysqueezebox.com. So I switched libraries to the Mac and it detected a new download of SBS (still labelled 7.6.0 followed by a build no - possibly the same one it was already using on mysqueezebox.com). It all works beautifully when using the Mac LAN but can I get get it back to point to mysqueezebox.com? Can I hell! If I choose 'Favourites' or 'My Music' when the Mac is asleep it still tries to connect to the LAN. It then prompts me to either try again or switch libraries. If I choose the latter it tries to connect to the LAN again! So I can now only use the Squeezebox when the computer is awake, although it will continue to play any internet streams that are running. Not very helpful. I'm sure in the past it switched over to mysqueezebox.com. Any ideas on how to get it pointing back there so I can run it independently of the Mac again? Thanks in advance for any help on this. Re: [slim] The 7.6.x lingering issues thread
Found something in the Advanced menu mentioning an update for SBS Server on mysqueezebox.com, so downloaded it. When it restarted it prompted me with a message saying that a new download was available (the same one)! So I let it carry on and download it again and when it restarted for a second time I chose 'Favourites'. Couldn't find them so it then switched to mysqueezebox.com (hooray!) and appeared to connect although some of the icons were grey squares. Something's gone wrong though as it just says 'can't connect - failed to parse' if I try to go to Favourites. The whole thing is behaving as thought it's FUBARed. Why can't we have the ability to just be able to do all this from the Squeezebox itself and not have to keep switching libraries? I wonder if the fact that it sees different things depending on whether it's using the LAN or the WAN has confused it by downloading updates multiple times and it has now screwed something up? Next time I'm going to wait until the Squeezebox prompts me for an update. It's the only way to keep things working properly. -- Nick_G Nick_G's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38427 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89395 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
