OK I did the upgrade on my QNAP NAS, took me 8 minutes, fair enough :-) Upgrades can be very simple, but can become a time consuming 'horror' trip. Now I've got confidence in QPKG and SSOTS. http://forum.qnap.com/viewtopic.php?f=123t=33566#p145293 PS: I have to say that it should be possible to suppress this update message, shouldn't be disturbed by such if it still works, at least only once maybe with an optional reminder. -- Metazargo Metazargo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38404 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=81401 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Updates keep bumping between 7.5.0 8673 and 7.5.1 9009
My Squeezeboxes Radio, Touch, Controller do constantly bump between updates 7.5.0 8673 and 7.5.1 9009 when I switch between my local SBS and mysqueezebox.com. It makes me crazy every day I see multiple times the upgrade screen, as I start in the morning on mysqueezebox.com and switch in the evening to my local SBS. Why? Thanks for advice how I can stop this, at least that the screen doesn't show up and blocks (have to go the help and then to home). Re: [slim] Updates keep bumping between 7.5.0 8673 and 7.5.1 9009
Update the local server to 7.5.1 . Firmware and server versions are matched, mysqueezebox.com runs 7.5.1 or don't switch to mysqueezebox.com , you can listen to radio and access all accounts if you set your mysqueezebox.com credentials in squeezeboxserver . And it works better too. To ignore the upgrade swipe left on the Touch, on controller and radio press left arrow for a while. -- Mnyb Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J MeridianHD621 and assorted amps SiriuS, Classe' Primare and Dynadio speakers, Contour 4 Contour Center, and Contour 1.3SE for the rear ch. Sound obvious ;-) just thought it might be such; but I would prefer to stop the update screen and maybe do the server upgrade later. I shouldn't be forced to fiddle around all the time, at least not on my IT equipment ;-) Yep, especially pairing of radio streams is much better by SBS, but in the morning my NAS is off... so green ;-) -- Metazargo Metazargo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38404 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=81401 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Updates keep bumping between 7.5.0 8673 and 7.5.1 9009
Try WOL wake on lan, does the NAS supports it ? My servers is booted by my boom when it's time for the alarm for example. And also the wol functions makes any player boot the server with a touch on the power button or similar actions on my controller . Aha NAS ;) Thats one problem with many NAS releases, upgrades can be iffy and the server version is usually not the recent one. Logitech provides the readynas build so that one is often ready when the official PC, Mac and Linux builds are . But other NAS build are provided by third party supplier which in some cases are a single person ? Would recommend 7.5.2 over 7.5.0 or 7.5.1 There is also ways to cheat, you can get the local sbs server to load the wrong version to your players. But this is not really a good thing as there is no guarantee that it will work properly. You see a folder called updates inside squeezeboxservers cache directory . http://update.slimdevices.com/update/firmware/ Replace the *version file and *.bin file for each product, done ! Now you can have totally unsupported and weird problems . But it is probably less pain to upgrade. -- Mnyb Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J MeridianHD621 and assorted amps SiriuS, Classe' Primare and Dynadio speakers, Contour 4 Contour Center, and Contour 1.3SE for the rear ch.
