Wondering Jew;564705 Wrote: Hi y'all, There must be a very simple answer to my question, but I couldn't resolve it by myself nor find a satisfactory answer on the forum, so here it goes: I'm a SB3 user. My Music Folder is set to a specific folder on a drive on my desktop, where my slimserver is running. I only want the scanner to use this folder as the music source - that's where I have all my music collection, all laid out nicely in my favorite format, tagging, etc. The problem is that the scanner appears to be scanning other folders as well (e.g. My Documents and below) although I never asked it to do so. What am I doing wrong and how to resolve it? Many Thanks, Ronen. go into SqueezeboxServer, then select settings (lower right hand side of screen), then in Settings on one of the tabs, you can enter the exact music subdirectory that you want it to scan as the location of your music library. If this is C:\my music\, you would enter that info, and SbS will only scan for music within that folder. SbS doesn't know that you only have your music in my music unless you tell it. -- garym garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80752 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

The scanner will follow shortcuts, so depending on the path you specify as your music location, it may be including the My Documents shortcut on your desktop. -- kidstypike kidstypike 1xSB3 - 1xDuet - 1xBoom - 1xRadio - 1xTouch kidstypike's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10436 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80752 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Thanks for the quick response! I guess I was assuming things as obvious in my head but didn't lay them out in my post: Yes, I did specify in the setting's Music Folder field the path to my music directory. That's why I'm expecting it to scan there and only there. But still it would scan in other locations. Now, I don't have any shortcuts/soft links from that music folder to other locations on my computer (that I know if). so why would it still go there? Thanks. -- Wondering Jew Wondering Jew's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11893 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80752 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] A Very Simple Question on Music Folder
OK, guys, thanks a lot. I'll look into my playlists (no *.lnk's). Also, maybe the fact that I'm using iTunes (don't ask me why), which is using its own music folder database is messing things up. I just can't stand the duplicates anymore... Thanks again, Ronen. -- Wondering Jew Wondering Jew's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11893 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80752 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] A Very Simple Question on Music Folder
My advice is to NOT try to integrate ITUNES and SB. About the only reason I can possibly see to do this is to use your ITUNES playlists. But other than this (and you can work around this with various SQL dynamic playlist functions in SB), it creates more potential headaches. I use ITUNES for loading up my ipods/iphones. But I don't try to integrate with the SbS. -- garym garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80752 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
