I would love to hear more about when 7.2.1 will come out as a couple
scanner bugs seem to be fixed (at least in the bug tracker).

My reply was aimed at the original poster who has upgraded from an
earlier version and running on XP. Are you also having problems? If
so, can you explain a bit more? I would definitely give 7.2.1 a try -
it contains small, safe bug fixes from 7.2, so is not at all like
running the beta 7.3 where things may break at any time.

I appreciate the offer for help but my troubles have been covered
pretty well in a couple other threads and bug reports. 7.2.1 is great
and has worked for me so far (I grabbed a nightly as soon as my bug was
closed) - but I would suggest that most folks aren't going to see that
as its still not officially released. I'd like to see these dot
releases come out a little quicker personally - especially when there
has been a bit of trouble.

Again - I appreciate your response as opposed to complaining about the
complainer ;)

If the issues you are having have already been fixed, then you could
try a nightly build. The nightlies for 7.2.1 are only for bug fixes, so
although they aren't official releases are only going to be less buggy
than the official release that procedes it.

7.3 is different as it is a significant version increase so will have
periods of instability and problems as new features are worked in and
large sections of coe changed.

Thanks funkstar - I wasn't very clear - I have already grabbed a
nightly - but without it being released its hard for everyone to tell
if it is fixing everyone's problems. It worked for me but there have
been a lot of complaints about the scanning in 7.2 so it seems to me
that getting the .1 released would be a pretty high priority.

I hope you feel better after the venting, but if you want SD/Logi to do
something about it you need to give some specifics. Obviously they are
working on 7.2.1 and 7.3 -- which bugs (see bugs.slimdevices.com) are
you referring to in particular?

Scanner crashes are often caused by your antivirus - what does the
scanner.log say? Post up the error messages and we may be able to
narrow the problem down for you. Settings/Status

The other thing is that you can revert to an earlier version of SC or
even Slimserver at anytime. Sounds like it would be a good option for
you just at the moment.

If you find that 7.2 is so buggy then as an alternative why don't you
go back to 7.0 or 7.1, whilst this is not ideal, are there any burning
issues that 7.2 was providing that 7.0/7.1 was not?

Personally I haven't upgraded to 7.2, 7.1 is working for me and I
haven't come across anything that I can't do as yet.

That is the very definition of the most common setup used in the United
States

But perhaps not for customers of Slimdevices who are well aware of the
limitations (DRM) and lock-in of Apple's offerings.

Sorry you are having troubles. With the exception of iTunes we have
very similar setups. Multiple SB devices, SC7.2, WinXP SP3 (SP2 when
updated to SC7.2), laptop as server, router.

I believe SC had numerous issues with anti-virus programs as it was a
completely different program than the old SS. I know my anti-virus
threw up a couple warnings, but it got over it. :)

I bring this up to suggest you may want to temporarily disable or turn
off your anti-virus program and firewall, then re-boot everything, try
re-scanning again. Disconnect your router from the internet if
security concerns you with no anti-virus or firewall running.

Worth a shot.:)

Yawn, not another one of those rants...

Never asked a question in this forum before and then comes in screaming
'disgusted'. I'm disgusted by your lack of manners. So don't upgrade.
Buy some other product and see if you *ever* get major functionality in
upgrades for free, cause ususally, you just don't.
