Re: [slim] Having a few problems with SC 7.0

2008-03-05 Thread Rich85

Okay i actually removed a couple of other albums SC was choking on and
the scan now runs through fine, 2 hours quicker than before! (Although
i have no idea what was wrong with the files)
It has also removed the itunes videos from the library.

However i'm still seeing albums of the same name mixed up.

Also another quick question; as i've used itunes all my music has
soundcheck values, which doesn't seem to have done its job all that
well. If I use foobar to add replaygain tags will SC use RG to adjust
the volume over the itunes values?

Just tried doing this, but its now paused at near enough exactly the
same point, just on a different file. It still seems to be that if I
wait about an hour and a half, it just carries on the scan like nothing
happened!?

How about just moving it out of the directory tree which is scanned and
temporarily parking it somewhere else then doing a rescan. If it sails
through with no hangups it pretty much means that the file in question
is somehow the culprit, although I have no idea what it might be.

It's saying it gets stuck on an mp3 file 3920 of 28032. I've checked the
files integrity in foobar but it doesn't say theres anything wrong with
it, and it plays fine. Don't know if there are any more checks I can
do?

I've had a look at the log file but it means nothing to me, do you want
me to post it?

Where does it get stuck? Check the scanning status in server settings -
View scan progress.
Also check the scan log file for any messages.

Okay i'm doing this now but it looks like the last problem is still
there at least.
The scanner starts scanning normally for a few minutes, but then
appears to get stuck. I can't hear any activity/disk spinning on the
hard drive the music is on. I never had this problem on the old
slimserver, so i don't know whether i'm doing anything wrong?

You can test this by disabling iTunes integration, pointing SC to your
music library and doing a full rescan.
If the problems go away it is indeed iTunes related. If they persist we
have to look somewhere else.

Re: [slim] Having a few problems with SC 7.0

2008-03-05 Thread Rich85

Slimpy thanks for the replies,

The albums that are mixed together are in their own directories
(organised by itunes as, itunes music > artist > album), and have no
disc# tags.

For the other problem I forgot to say that I had done a full clear
library and rescan, and the videos still show up. However this option
never worked for me in SS 6.5.4

Do you think it's maybe because i'm using itunes that i'm getting these
problems?

Make sure the albums are placed in their own directory. Remove any disc
# tags (DISC for flac, TPOS for mp3). If the disc # is set SC thinks all
the files belong to the same multi-disc album because multi-disc albums
allow each disc to be in their own directory.

You need to do a full rescan after changing the disabled file
extensions.

Can't help you with this one, never used iTunes myself.
