I was able to analyze and fingerprint tracks last night . I haven't been
able to connect to the server for some weeks now but MIP seems to
archive the files locally somehow

Re: [slim] Mip: R.i.p?

2014-01-20 Thread schiegl

I was able to get the GUI (MusicIP Mixer) working again after i created
a localhost (127.0.0.1) entry for music.predixis.com in my W7 hosts
file. After scanning the songs, the fingerprint is going to be stored in
the files and the headless version (which is used as backend for my
squeeze stuff) is then able to pick up the imprinted tracks. I was not
able to get genpuid running again using this method.

"Offline" mode still works ok with the GUI; I added 4x albums this
weekend and it took approx 15mins to scan them so its liveable.. If you
were starting from scratch on a large library then it would suck but I
guess it depends if you have a system on 24/7 anyway you could just
leave a couple of your CPU cores dedicated to it and let it roll in the
background and come back in a few weeks ;)

I know your Spicefly web site has instructions for MusicIP and Linux but
as you note it doesn't work for Ubuntu 12.04 or later. Have a look at my
post (#34) 'HERE'
as I have it working on a 12.04 64 bit system (fingerprinting and
working with LMS

I created an entry in the hosts file as you suggested, but all I get
when in the MIP GUI and select "Start Analysis" is "Unanalyzable" for
the new tracks. Here is the hosts entry I created:

127.0.0.1 music.predixis.com

Am I doing something wrong?

If the tracks are "Unanalyzable" that doesn't mean that MusicIP is not
working, I think there is something wrong with the tracks it can be that
if you look at the propertie of the tracks they are read only if that's
the case this may be the reason your getting "Unanalyzable".

Thanks I'll test that out :)

and converting it to WAV format to do its analysis, so check for the
ability to write to temporary files, lack of disk space or could be the
tracks may be short ie. <10 seconds.

Alternatively it could be corruption of the cache lib file, so delete or
rename it and start MIP again which will make it start from scratch. If
you archived the analysis into the files it will rebuild the database
pretty quickly. (If you havent used archived analysis, then right click
on your music files and select it before touching the cache file, unless
you like a long wait :) )

These files were purchased from iTunes a few days ago but I dont believe
they are DRM. I checked their permissions and it looks fine. Can't think
of anything else that I should look at.

Also take a look in the tags for non-standard special characters, new
files may have www addresses, or tags with http:// linking to the
artists site, anything which isnt a normal A-Z alphanumeric character
seems to stop MIP analysing tracks.

MusicIP doesn't like iTunes files, when you start the MusicIP Mixer it
even warns you about it.

I haven't analyzed any new files in the past month, but I was under the
impression that the server has been offline for a while now, and all
analysis happens locally now.. just means it's slower, but it doesn't
*not* work for me.

Re: [slim] Mip: R.i.p?

2014-02-01 Thread mikerob

Does anyone know how to fool the Mac version of MusicIP into doing local
analysis?

Under Options > Server I've unticked the "Connect to server" box but
when I select "Start Analysis" MusicIP comes up with a dialogue box
saying "OK to sync? I need to synchronise with the MusicIP server" with
Yes and No options. If I select "Yes", I get "Unable to establish
connection" and "No" doesn't do anything.

I've put music.predixis.com localhost in the Mac /private/etc/hosts file
but this didn't seem to do anything.
