[ACFUG Discuss] Contractor rates
As time goes on I find myself doing less and less CF development. Not because of technology changes but rather that my role has changed. So I'm out of touch with developer salaries and contract rates. I'm looking to hire a couple contractors for 3 months. Re: [ACFUG Discuss] Contractor rates
Teddy, Thanks for your reply. I was not looking for personal contract rates but rather and industry average. I'm just trying to avoid paying too much while at the same time being competitive. Again, thanks for your insight! Max From: Teddy R. Payne [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, August 14, 2008 2:19 PM To: discussion@acfug.org Subject: Re: [ACFUG Discuss] Contractor rates Max, I am not sure this is a good medium for discussing rates for consultants. Most consultants have either a written or verbal agreement with their consulting firms that discourage the discussing of their rates. You may want to target technologists who have been a part of the hiring process or IT Managers. Once you have been in contact with them, it would be a good conversation to take offline. Some may disagree with this, but it is one of those things that professionals typically do not openly discuss. Perhaps, I am too formal about this compared to others. Also, there used to be web sites that I cannot remember that had the average salary or contract rate based upon industry and experience. The only issue that I had with those sites as they were extremely generalized and the web sites did not have the most up to date technology skill listings. Re: [ACFUG Discuss] Copy and paste screenshot
Charlie, Sorry for taking so long to get back with you. Been travelling. I'm building a basic app that documents a Near Miss in a hospital setting. A near miss is an avoided medical error using our enterprise clinical systems. Part of the project requirements is being able to upload/capture a screenshot when the near miss occured. The only way I know how to do this is to perform a traditional file upload. I was asking the group if anyone had come across, for example, an active-x control or maybe a plugin that could help accelerate this process. A nurse or physician does not really have time (and most times the know-how) to capture a screenshot, save it and then upload it. If anyone does know of a any non-client type solution please let me know. Thanks! And that wouldn't be CF but the editor. Perhaps someday the CFEclipse Plug-in may offer this, but until then, no, you're on your own to either tickle the file or use the CF 7 Admin option (as Doug pointed out) or run the cfcompile on your own--though it's not file-specific. Doug made another point which is probably your real answer, and I'm sorry I didn't think to say it: turn off the save class files option in the Admin. I bet your problems will go away. /charlie http://www.carehart.org/blog/ -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Max Immelman Sent: Thursday, October 12, 2006 5:47 PM To: discussion@acfug.org Subject: Re: [ACFUG Discuss] Recompiling on the fly Charlie, I know in VS (building .net app) you press the F5 key to compile and load in debug mode or ctrl F5 (i think) without debug. I don't think there's anything in CF (documented) to do either, though perhaps someone with more experience in CF 7 Admin API or the servicefactory may know of a solution. I'd be interested myself. (This is one instance where I did myself try to google to find a solution in the recent past and could not.) Another possibility is to run the command line cfcompile.bat (in the cfmx/bin directory), though again it can only recompile entire directories, not just one file (from my experience and recollection). /charlie http://www.carehart.org/blog/ -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Max Immelman Sent: Thursday, October 12, 2006 3:42 PM To: discussion@acfug.org Subject: [ACFUG Discuss] Recompiling on the fly I'm using DWMX that uses a bunch of cfc's. Re: [ACFUG Discuss] Recompiling on the fly
Thanks Teddy! The problem is, I make significant changes to my CFC, then refresh the application to test and I get the same error. I know that I can't possibly get the same error. This tells me the CFC has not updated (or recompiled). It's frustration because I restart my cf service everytime to insure recompile. Again, I have not been doing this a long time. Thanks for you help. - Original Message - From: Teddy Payne To: discussion@acfug.org Sent: Thursday, October 12, 2006 3:56 PM Subject: Re: [ACFUG Discuss] Recompiling on the fly Unless the object is stored ina sahred scope, each instantiation of the object will invoke a new instance.
