David, This mailing list is for the development of the django library itself, not development WITH the library. Please direct your question to django-users. WAP communicating with server-side Python
Is there an equivalent mailling list for WAP? I am in need of a very simple demo website/webpage accessible by mobile handset and simply get a few critical data, e.g. its id, or/and x, y, z position. http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=how+to+mobile+website&aq=8&aqi=g10&aql=&oq=how+to+mobile&gs_rfai= I want to try out moving my Python internet service on to mobile phones. Therefore, the front-end will have to be in WAP. All I need is an excellent demo WAP page to show me how to get the mobile handset's ID, and x, y, z position. Regards. If someone can tell > me what's missing that's something I can work with. It's not your fault at all -- what's missing is committer time. These patches look perfect, and you're completely right that they should have been committed long ago. A polite nag on the mailing list -- like this email -- is a perfect way to prod things along. FWIW, we (the core team) are completely aware that we've got a shortage of bandwidth to get patches committed, and we've been discussing internally some ways to mitigate the problem. It's probably close to the point where we should move that discussion out into the public. Re: help
Firstly, while I myself am new to the list, I believe these questions are better suited for the django-users mailing list, as django- developers is for development of Django, not with Django. That being said... > 1- py is Python class extension? Python source files have the py extension. Python class files have a pyc extension. > 2-does django have any similar .jsp GUI? or is only use HTML for GUI? I am not familiar with .jsp per se, but Django is a web framework, and as such usually outputs html. However, Django does not handle site design, i.e. css, javascript, flash, whatever. It works with it. Thus, you can really utilize Django with any number of other technologies. > 3-is netbeans IDE the best IDE? This is a purely personal decision. I use Eclipse with PyDev for most of my Django (and Python) development. However, you can use whatever you want. From my experience, people write Python code with a whole number of editors and/or full blown IDEs, since a lot of debugging work takes place with the Python interactive shell, and not with an IDE's debugger. Re: help
Hi Andre -- I'm sorry, but we can't help you here. This list is for discussion of developing Django itself, not user questions. Since you're very new to Python, I'd suggest trying comp.lang.python (http://groups.google.com/group/comp.lang.python) or the #python IRC channel on Freenode. Once you've learned a bit of Python and want to progress to Django, you could direct Django usage questions to the django-users list (http://groups.google.com/group/django-users). Thanks! Re: How to get patches from 'Accepted' to 'Committed'
Steve, In my experience the best approach is to open a thread on this list asking for someone to review/commit each of your tickets individually. Since all involved in the project are volunteers, it may take some work (e.g., asking a few times) on your part to raise awareness of the issue. But if you're persistent & your request is reasonable, you'll get it committed. How to get patches from 'Accepted' to 'Committed'
Hi, The diagram here shows the lifecycle of a ticket. http://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/internals/contributing/#ticket-triage What I don't get is how a ticked goes from 'Accepted' to 'Ready for checkin' The context I ask in is in relation to patches I submitted a year ago and which were accepted: http://code.djangoproject.com/query?status=new&status=assigned&status=reopened&reporter=~steveire&order=priority Should I change the status to 'Ready for checkin' myself or is somebody else supposed to? I'd like to contribute more small patches to Django, but I must say it's demotivating that those haven't seen any action since being accepted, and I couldn't see what I need to do to get those committed. If someone can tell me what's missing that's something I can work with. All the best, Steve. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Django developers" group.
