Re: [libreoffice-documentation] GSOD 2020 - Possible Error in Help pages

2020-11-25 Thread GANDHI RONNIE
For this issue:

WORKDAY.INTL seems linked to WORKDAY of ODF based on the parameters but
Weekend accepts 1 to 17 or 011 type of string.

So both functions are somehow similar to ODF function WORKDAY. So which one
to link?

Re: [libreoffice-documentation] GSOD 2020 - Possible Error in Help pages

2020-11-25 Thread GANDHI RONNIE
Hello Olivier and Steve,

The function WORKDAY in help pages and also its implementation has only the
first 3 parameters whereas ODF section has 4 parameters. Also ODF mentions
passing {0;0;0;0;0;1;1} or {1;0;0;0;0;0;1} or even this {0;0;0;1;1;1;1} as
the Holiday parameter which when I tried does not change the result.

I have stated that "Calc's implementation of WORKDAY function is not
strictly in accordance with ODF 1.2." in wiki.

Calc's function works just like MS Excel's function does.

Re: [libreoffice-documentation] GSOD 2020 - Possible Error in Help pages

2020-11-24 Thread GANDHI RONNIE
Hello Olivier and Steve,

I believe the SHEET function has error in both ODF section and help pages.
The function states that it returns sheet number or name string for the
referenced sheet (either by cell or by name area or a sheet name). But I
believe it *can only return sheet number not sheet name*.

MS Excel's documentation seems to not have that error and Calc's function
is also working accordingly.

Re: Re[5]: [libreoffice-documentation] GSOD 2020 - Possible Error in Help pages

2020-11-10 Thread GANDHI RONNIE
Hello Steve and Olivier,

I found one more useless text in the FV function.

"In the LibreOfficeDev Calc functions, parameters marked as "optional" can
be left out only when no parameter follows. For example, in a function with
four parameters, where the last two parameters are marked as "optional",
you can leave out parameter 4 or parameters 3 and 4, but you cannot leave
out parameter 3 alone."

Either we add this in all functions with optional parameters which I think
is not possible or we remove it from here.

What do you guys think?

[libreoffice-documentation] Issue understanding PROB function

2020-10-25 Thread GANDHI RONNIE
Hello Steve and Olivier,

I am having an issue understanding PROB. I tried running the function using
details from help and in the same way as MS's counterpart but in Calc it
returns a #VALUE! error. Can you point out the reason for the same since I
am unable to get any legit numerical result till now.

Re: Re[2]: [libreoffice-documentation] GSOD 2020 - Possible Error in Help pages

2020-10-25 Thread GANDHI RONNIE
Hello Steve and Olivier,

I have found some more errors in help pages:

For MINIFS
<https://help.libreoffice.org/7.1/en-US/text/scalc/01/func_minifs.html?=CALC=UNIX>
the
2nd example in "Using regular expressions and nested functions" section the
regex is about "book" but description states "pen".

Also in POISSON.DIST
<https://help.libreoffice.org/7.1/en-US/text/scalc/01/04060184.html?DbPAR=CALC#bm_id2953985>
the
function says "C" parameter is optional but that is not true. I tried it in
Calc.

Please look into the above.

Re: [libreoffice-documentation] GSOD 2020 - Possible Error in Help pages

2020-10-18 Thread GANDHI RONNIE
Hello Steve and Olivier,

I found one more erroneous function in help pages. HYPEGEOMDIST's
description of *cumulative *parameter's last statement is wrong. It states
"The cumulative distribution function is the default if no value is
specified for this parameter." but I tested and by default probability
density function is considered. So changes should be incorporated
accordingly.

Hello Olivier, Steve and all,

   23. COMBINA
   <https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Documentation/Calc_Functions/COMBINA>

These are the functions that I have worked on. I hope you like them and you
can comment in the discussion section. I'll look into each one of them and
besides these I am currently working to finish the first column by today 4
remain.

Also I want to ask about the CONVERT_OOO
<https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Documentation/Calc_Functions/CONVERT_OOO>
function.
It seems quite shady as it states it can convert from one measurement to
another. If so what all measurements it supports as help page only shows
euro type of currency conversion but it says that better to use EUROCONVERT
so what are the ranging applications and what is it's excel equivalent?

Since it was my first week I was a bit slow but I'll try to finish 7
functions a day making around 42-49 functions a week this way we will have
enough time to go through everything once in the end as well.

Looking forward to your comments.
Regards,

If you believe that gif isn't needed then we can have simple png for these
functions and only in a special case we will opt for gifs?

[libreoffice-documentation] Please give your feedback for this document edit

2020-09-01 Thread GANDHI RONNIE
Hello all,

I have edited this Calc function ACOS's wiki page where I made a few
changes:
1. Following a tabular example format
2. Added bad case example
3. Added a gif I created myself to avoid copyright issues besides getting
benefit of customizing to our needs
4. Adding related functions
5. Linked to corresponding ODF section

https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Documentation/Calc_Functions/ACOS

I would be applying similar changes to Calc functions one by one with an
exception of Gifs and images only wherever needed.

Looking forward to your feedback.
Regards,
Ronnie
