Re: Doobies Musical Tastes
That is from Delaney & Bonnie & Friends around 1969 or early 1970. The band also included Dave Mason, George Harrison and Rita Coolidge among others. So it is very possible that "Eyes of Silver" was done with that in mind. It would be interesting to find out. I will try and ask Tommy next month at the convention if I get a chance to talk to him. A few weeks ago on the radio I heard a recording of Clapton in concert covering Dave Mason's "Only You Know and I Know". I don't know how old the performance was, but it sure did sound a lot like "Eyes of Silver" (I came in after the song had started and at first thought it was the Doobies from the sound of the guitars). Made me wonder if he had taken a cue or two from the Doobs. Maybe there's a mutual admiration thing going on? ;-) John, the lurker from Jersey _ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe doobiefans-list" in the body.

Now That's a great Question! I'd love to hear a response Scooter Mike Dagnall wrote: Hi all! Does anyone out there know what music the Doobies themselves listen to these days? Hey Mike, I spoke with Tommy about this a while back and asked him who he listened to and respected most in the music world. He responded that he looked at Eric Clapton the way the many of the Doobie Fans sometimes look at him. If he was in an event with Eric, he would get all excited and nervous like being a fanand he is a fan of Clapton. At least that's the best I can remember his description of it.
