Re: [Drakelist] Drake MN-2000
Rick, Please define "transmatch" and "antenna tuner." 73, Eric KA8FAN - Original Message From: Bill <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: drakelist@zerobeat.net Sent: Sunday, August 31, 2008 3:21:31 PM Subject: Re: [Drakelist] Drake MN-2000 Rick, So is there a difference betten the MN-2000 and lets say the LDG-1000PRO? All it really does is match the 50 ohm output impedence of your transmitter to the impedence it sees at the end of the coax. From the coax connector on, you still have all the SWR and heat loss due to dissapation. Good luck. I was reading through the manual last night and on Page 1-2 it says: 50 ohm coax with SWR of 5:1 or less. So I am going to tune the antenna somewhere in the middle so my SWR will be like 3:1 rather than try to tune almost 6:1. I dont want any sparks or arcing the the MN-2000 since its brand new :) 73 Bill K9BuB ___ Drakelist mailing list Drakelist@zerobeat.net http://mailman.zerobeat.net/mailman/listinfo/drakelist ___ Drakelist mailing list Drakelist@zerobeat.net http://mailman.zerobeat.net/mailman/listinfo/drakelist

[Drakelist] L4B Switch
Thanks for the comments from Evan, Ron, Boyd and Bob. I'm going to go the rest of the way through the power supply before doing anything else to the L4b. As for the switch, I may try to take it apart and fix it,...if possible. Also, I'll look into the mouser part. I seem to remember that there was a switch out there that could replace the original, but was a different color scheme. That would be better than nothing, however I may just install a wall switch next to my 220 outlet. Its dedicated to the amp, and probably a good idea anyway. If I do get the switch fixed the new soft start should keep a leash on the inrush current through the switch. I also installed a soft key circuit in the L4 deck so I can use the amp with my TT transciever as well as my TR7. I'll post the results to the group for use by others down the road. Thanks again to all. David Wd9cmd ___ Drakelist mailing list Drakelist@zerobeat.net http://mailman.zerobeat.net/mailman/listinfo/drakelist
[Drakelist] Keying an L4B with a 2NT
I'm using my 2NT with my L4B and can key the L4B from the VFO key port on the back of the 2NT. I use a Y-Cable on the 2NT's VFO Key port: one leg goes to my HA5 VFO and the other leg goes to the VOX relay port on the L4B. I measure 38VDC at the output of the 2NT VFO key port. Does anyone see any problems with this configuration? I know the 2NT is a novice transmitter but with the HA5, HA1 keyer, and the 2C, it's a lot of fun to operate. The L4B gives a little more punch.
