[Drakelist] Drake C-Line Power Cable
Hello Drake List, Does anyone out there know where to source a 120 VAC flat 3 conductor grey AC power cable similar to that used on the C-Line equipment? I need to replace a frayed FS-4 AC cable that my daughter's rabbit found especially tasty and would like to find something close to the OEM. Perhaps I am searching in the wrong area but all I can find to date are the round black AC power cords common on today's test equipment which I don't believe will fit properly into the crimp connector on the back of the chassis. Re: [Drakelist] Fw: List Downtime
Hi Thom Please keep the Drakelist going if possible. I read and file almost all of the threads and have used the list several times in the last year to resolve some very difficult technical issues with my C line. I believe the service you are providing is a very valuable contribution to the Drake community. 73 Wade VA3HM -Original Message- From: drakelist-boun...@zerobeat.net [mailto:drakelist-boun...@zerobeat.net] On Behalf Of Terry Hart Sent: June 15, 2009 5:00 PM To: k8...@sbcglobal.net; drakelist@zerobeat.net Subject: Re: [Drakelist] Fw: List Downtime I'll second all of that! I don't post very often, but I have a separate Drakelist folder in my Outlook Express that automatically catches all the postings and I read them every single day. The list already helped me fix a TR-7 and I'm thankful for the list and archives. It's a great asset and I appreciate it like everybody else who has responded. [Drakelist] T4X-C 6JB6/6JB6A Question
Hi Drakelist Would someone out there know the maximum plate current a pair of Sylvania 6JB6 / 6JB6A sweep tubes can handle without damaging the tube and what the T4X-C PA stage typically draws when tuned for maximum power output? I have read some conflicting information and would like to hear from someone with practical experience. I have a T4X-C which can deliver 150 W output on all bands but requires almost 350 ma to do so. RE: [drakelist] Metal Varnish Question
Thank-you for the advice guys! I suspect the coating is either a yellowed varnish or gold anodized plating. RE: [drakelist] C-Line PTO Friction Question
wmacleod [EMAIL PROTECTED] made an utterance to the drakelist gang -- Thank-you both Garey and Evan. From your descriptions I expect the units I have need a small amount of lubrication on the worm gear and main bearings. I am familiar with the article mentioned below and will be careful not to contaminate the plastic gears. They should however be easily tuned by resting your finger on the side of the knob (or in the button on the C Line) and moving your finger in a circle. The PTO is driven directly by the lead screw and follower within the gearbox at the front of the PTO. All the gears are there solely to drive the dial disc(s). An excellent article on the foibles of this arrangement is at: http://www.wb4hfn.com/DRAKE/DrakeArticles/PTO/Drake_PTO.htm The article is based on the C Line, but is applicable to all the 4 units that use the nylon gears. The big secret is that nylon gears are designed to run _DRY_ , i.e., no lubrication at all, especially petroleum based lubricants. 73, Garey - K4OAH Glen Allen, VA Drake 2-B, 4-B, C-Line TR-4/C Service Supplement CDs www.k4oah.com H D MAC LEOD wrote: H D MAC LEOD [EMAIL PROTECTED] made an utterance to the drakelist gang -- Hi Drakelist. I am interested in understanding how smooth the Drake C Line dial mechanisms were when the product was originally shipped from the factory. Perhaps some of you are original owners of C Line equipment and would comment? I have read that The dial mechanism should offer only slight resistance to the tuning knob. You should be able to fast spin the tuning knob by placing your index finger on the outside of the knob and rotating your hand. Is this technically correct? I have a couple of C-Line units from different sources where the dial mechanisms are identical and smooth but definitely not free finger spinning as described above. [drakelist] Re-attaching Drake MS-4 Logo to Speaker Grill
Hi Drakelist Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to re-attach the Drake MS-4 Logo to the speaker grill? The original backing was a form of adhesive which has dried out over the years. I was thinking about the following alternatives: (1) Double sided tape - might leave a gap between the logo and the metal grill? (2) Soft glue stick like the kind used on scrapbook projects - would it last? (3) Crazy Glue - might be a problem if it did not adhere to the metal paint? Appreciate any recommendations. thanks Wade
RE: [drakelist] Re-attaching Drake MS-4 Logo to Speaker Grill
An excellent idea! That stuff is soft when it goes on, doesn't dry right away so I get a chance to position it correctly and adheres to almost any surface.
