[drakelist] AC4 Plug
G3SJJ [EMAIL PROTECTED] made an utterance to the drakelist gang -- I am currently renovating a 4B Line and would like to reduce the length of the power cable from the AC4 psu and also replace the short speaker cable. The female phono is corroded. How do I remove the cover from the plug? I can see a pin that appears to go through the plug but I am not sure if it is possible to tap this through. Yes, you can tap out the pin and then the plug should come apart without any fuss. It is a standard Jones plug and the were still available about five years back when I last looked for one. -- Richard Loken VE6BSV, Systems Programmer - VMS : Anybody can be a father Athabasca University: but you have to earn Athabasca, Alberta Canada : the title of 'daddy' ** [EMAIL PROTECTED] ** : - Lynn Johnston -- Submissions:drakelist@www.zerobeat.net Unsubscribe:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - unsubscribe drakelist in body Hopelessly Lost:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - help in body of message Zerobeat Web Page: www.zerobeat.net - sponsored by www.tlchost.net --
Re: [drakelist] AC4 Plug
Garey Barrell [EMAIL PROTECTED] made an utterance to the drakelist gang -- Chris - Yes, that pin is the key! It is pressed in, with a small head on one end. The shank has a long twist to it. I remove them by starting with a punch on the small end (natcherly!) and then pull from the head end. I've had good luck using small needle nose pliers grasping the shank and then working the widening plier jaws under the head to ease the pin the rest of the way out. Much easier to do than describe! If you have a real pin punch that is small enough, that's fine, but I never have had one. 73, Garey - K4OAH Atlanta Drake R-4C Service Information CD http://www.k4oah.com G3SJJ wrote: G3SJJ [EMAIL PROTECTED] made an utterance to the drakelist gang -- I am currently renovating a 4B Line and would like to reduce the length of the power cable from the AC4 psu and also replace the short speaker cable. Yep, as Garey says, push the pin out and the rounded head will pop out. Pull the pin with needlenose pliers but also notice that the pin is threaded so don't pull straight out! Look for the threads after you get about 1/16 out. -- 73 Jason N1SU http://n1su.us/ -- Submissions:drakelist@www.zerobeat.net Unsubscribe:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - unsubscribe drakelist in body Hopelessly Lost:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - help in body of message Zerobeat Web Page: www.zerobeat.net - sponsored by www.tlchost.net --

Rodger Singley [EMAIL PROTECTED] made an utterance to the drakelist gang -- By the way, at least in my Mouser catalog Molex seems to be the replacement source for the Cinch Jones 300 series. Mouser has a limited selection of Cinch Jones and no longer carries the 12 pin Cinch Jones I needed for the R-7/TR-7A interconnection cable but the Molex series 3300 are fully compatible for those needing replacements for plugs/sockets.
