Maybe this time it's for real? Maybe, maybe not. The difference this time is it's being publicisd by members of the SWIARC. Here's the portion of the last post that I left out: Date: Fri, 02 Dec 2005 22:37:40 -0600 From: Brian Zdan <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [Fwd: [Fwd: [HDXA-NI0DX] Ladd Electronics Going out of Business Sale]] Rich: I cannot come to the garagefest tomorrow because I must attend the board meeting of the Great Plains, Inc. (CS nursing service) tomorrow. You may want to give the folks in attendance the information in the following e-mail. I am Frank's lawyer, and I can confirm that all of the facts in the message are accurate except the phone number (it is 556-3023). Well...I'm not saying that this is not true THIS TIME, but. Ok, this may or may not be just another Frank is going out of business fairy tale. But... since you were there, what does he have?? Is there anything there that is worth the time and effort, (and $10,000) to bother to go there and actually buy him out, give him his wish, and end the saga? What did you see in his store? WOW!! Well...I'm not saying that this is not true THIS TIME, but. I visited Ladd Electronics in 1984 one afternoon. He had a BUNCH of old tube ham gear. I walked out of there with my wallet empty and enough stuff to fill up my Dodge Caravan! However, I did have to listen to his diatribe about how he was going out of businees "next month". Remember this was in 1984. For the last TWENTY ONE YEARS whenever I have visited Frank he always going out of business "NEXT MONTH" EVERY timeI would say I have been there a dozen or so times in the last 21 years, and every single time he bitterly told me how he was going out of business "next month". Once he even had pictures of where he was going to stash his inventory, because no one was interested in buying him out. This was in the mid nineties and again when I visited Frank in 2000, he was going out of business "next month". BTW, I'm not the only one who has experienced this. Frank has a reputation locally for going out of business "next month". I'm not saying that THIS TIME it's not true, but as they say, "I've heard this before". Maybe this time it's for real? 73 de Dan -- WAØJRD .. -- Submissions:drakelist@www.zerobeat.net Unsubscribe:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - unsubscribe drakelist in body Hopelessly Lost:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - help in body of message Zerobeat Web Page: www.zerobeat.net - sponsored by www.tlchost.net --
[drakelist] OT: More on Ladd Electronics
"Jim Shorney" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterance to the drakelist gang -- Original Message Subject:[HDXA-NI0DX] Ladd Electronics Going out of Business Sale Date: Fri, 02 Dec 2005 17:52:10 -0600 From: Jeff <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: HDXA <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, BARC <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, AKSARBENtalk <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> I stopped in to see Frank today only to discover that he is closing his doors at the end of December. He found out yesterday that everything must be out of the 3 story building by the end of the month. WOW!! He asked my to notify as many hams as possible to stop in and make him an offer on anything. He's an Icom dealer, but has many used rigs both HF & VHF. Amps, transceivers, receivers, antennas, used surplus, parts, magazines/books, you name it and he probably has it. Frank also will sell the entire inventory as well. He told me that he will sell $20k of inventory for $10k. Please spread the word to as many hams as possible and stop in to bid Frank Ladd and his many years of service good-bye.
