[Dspace-tech] xmlui templates for different citation systems

2009-11-17 Thread Jochen Lienhard
Hi,

we plan to implement xmlui templates for different citation systems
(for example: citavi, zotero, refworks).

I'm thinking, we are not the only one, who are interested in such export
functions.

Has some of you implement such export xmlui templates ... and where can
this be found?

Greetings

Jochen

[Dspace-tech] Display abstract field as hyperlink

2009-11-17 Thread Panyarak Ngamsritragul

Hi,

In our batch (bulk) importing process, we would like to eliminate the
process of inputting a large amount of abstracts. This can be done by put
a hyperlink to existing abstract file instead. By default, however, the
display of abstract field does not support html tags... Can any of you
suggest where I should modify to have DSpace support html tag in abstract
field ?

Thanks.

[Dspace-tech] Localized names and indexes

2009-11-17 Thread Héctor Garcia Peris

Hello,

I have a dspace 1.5.2 working against a PostGreSQL database. I created an index
of authors using the dc.creator field. The problem is that when one author has
an special character in the name, like García, when you clicks on the author
name dspace takes me to the non results page, that doesn't happens when the
name doesn't have special characters, like Smith.

I think this should be a problem related to UTF-8, but I don't know how to
solve it. Anyone can help me?

Thanks.

I have Context Objects in Spans on mine (works for Zotero import), and
an obtuse but more-or-less functional RefWorks export. I designed both
myself, so I'm not prepared to say they're the world's greatest
quality. If you want them to play with, the former can be found
somewhere in , and
(apologies for the code dump) the latter is below -- don't forget to
fix the data source.

(Note to self: I should really clean a lot of pointless code out of
utils.xsl one of these fine days...)

Hi Héctor,

you can try this:
insert into community2collection (id,community_id,collection_id)
values(getnextid('community2collection'),COMUNITY_ID,COLLECTION_ID);

It might cause you some problems though... You'd better test it first.

Good luck.

Hola Héctor,

there is no admin tool to map a collection to another community, this
can be done on db level changing the community2collection table. Make
sure you got a dump of your db before changing it. Then you got to
refresh the browse and search indices and the count.

Hi All,
The next tangle for us is the handle service for this new server.
I see that in dspace 1.5.2 the jar is named differently than I used on the
server containing 1.5.1

Dspace\lib

Has handle-5.3.4.jar instead of handle.jar

Are they the same?

Re: [Dspace-tech] [Dspace-general] Import metadata without items

2009-11-17 Thread Claudia Jürgen

Hello Marvin,

you can import items without bitstreams using the default Item Importer,
just create an empty contents file per item, your import structure would
look like this

[path]/[itemDirectory1]/dublin-core.xml
[path]/[itemDirectory1]/contents
[path]/[itemDirectory2]/dublin-core.xml
[path]/[itemDirectory2]/contents
...
[path]/[itemDirectoryn]/dublin-core.xml
[path]/[itemDirectoryn]/contents
[path]/[itemDirectoryn]/dublin-core.xml
[path]/[itemDirectoryn]/contents

You need no dummy pdf. An item without attached bitstreams got a note
"There are no files associated with this item." in the display, e.g.:

https://eldorado.tu-dortmund.de/handle/2003/25020

Whether to allow items without bitstreams during the UI based submission
is configurable with the dspace.cfg parameter webui.submit.upload.required

Hope that helps

Claudia Jürgen

We are planning to develop a Dspace repository for our faculty
publications. Initially, all we will have is the metadata. The plan is
to use grad assistants to acquire pdfs and research the rights for each
article or object and add these to the repository. The metadata is to
be extracted from several databases and imjested into Dspace so we at
least have a complete bibliography in one place.

Should a standard pdf, e.g., "No pdf available at this time" be added as
the bitstream object at time of creation so a handle can be created and
reserved or should the metadata be imported with no object and the
object and handle be created when the object becomes available? Or is
there another way to handle this situation?

Re: [Dspace-tech] Localized names and indexes

2009-11-17 Thread Héctor Garcia Peris

Hello Claudia,

As you assume I was using Tomcat as the servlet container. I add this parameter
to the Connector and now works fine.

One thing else. I can use special characters in any form, but when I try to
change the license using the administration tool it doesn't work fine. For
example if I put in the licence:

probándola

what is written in the default.license file is

probándola

This doesn't occur when you edit news. Moreover, you can edit diferent news in
different languages, but not the same with the license. Can I use a
default_es.license and default_en.license files to distinguish between them?

Thanks.

Hi,

we plan to implement xmlui templates for different citation systems
(for example: citavi, zotero, refworks).

I'm thinking, we are not the only one, who are interested in such export
functions.

Has some of you implement such export xmlui templates ... and where can
this be found?

Greetings

Jochen

Hi,

In our batch (bulk) importing process, we would like to eliminate the
process of inputting a large amount of abstracts. This can be done by put
a hyperlink to existing abstract file instead. By default, however, the
display of abstract field does not support html tags... Can any of you
suggest where I should modify to have DSpace support html tag in abstract
field ?

Thanks.

Hello,

I have a dspace 1.5.2 working against a PostGreSQL database. I created an index
of authors using the dc.creator field. The problem is that when one author has
an special character in the name, like Garc?a, when you clicks on the author
name dspace takes me to the non results page, that doesn't happens when the
name doesn't have special characters, like Smith.

I think this should be a problem related to UTF-8, but I don't know how to
solve it. Anyone can help me?

Thanks.

Re: [Dspace-tech] Display abstract field as hyperlink

2009-11-17 Thread Allen Lam
Hi, Ngamsritragul,

You need not adding and showing the abstract metadata field at all, if
you don't want to.
Add it as a bitstream file.

An example in our IR:
http://hub.hku.hk/handle/123456789/55221
Is this a solution good for your case?

Best,
Allen Lam.

Re: [Dspace-tech] Display abstract field as hyperlink

2009-11-17 Thread Panyarak Ngamsritragul

Dear Allen,

Thanks for your reply... I am aware of what you have pointed out, and
that could be an option to consider.

I would (or would not?) be better if one can put abstract file in the
corresponding field. But I was also triggered last night that putting
hyperlink in abstract field might affect the search results... Any
suggestion ?
