I just double checked but i do not think it has to do with a server

 Miguel,

If you use XMLUI interface, it's done by editing your theme.xsl.
You have to edit the part of the theme that shows a specific metadata.

When depositing an item you must type the handle of the item you
want to make a link for.

 Example: 123456789/10

Doing so, it will show a link to 123456789/10 using its title.

Here's a sample code used in our theme xsl file for
 dc.relation.hasversion metadata:

 xsl:if test=dim:fie...@element='relation' and @qualifier='hasversion']

2010-06-09 Thread Mark H. Wood
In fact we should be doing more of this, instead of the frequent
practice of augmenting DC (in which case it is no longer DC, really).
To introduce new concepts, introduce new namespace.

Mind you, we need to do this in coordination with others. There are a
lot of metadata namespaces out there already, and you may find one (or
several) to be a good fit to the meanings and structure that you need.
If not, and you create your own, consider whether it would be useful
to others, and if so announce and promote it so that we all benefit
from your insight.

Hi Shashidhar,

That Internal System Error message is a generic DSpace system message
which, unfortunately, does not provide the information we need to help
you resolve the problem. In order to figure out what the real underlying
error is, you'll have to look at the DSpace Log files.

Please see the How to Troubleshoot an Error page for information about
finding the error in the log files:
http://wiki.dspace.org/confluence/display/DSPACE/Troubleshoot+an+error

Once you locate the error in the logs, if you cannot figure out the
problem, feel free to send the full error message to this listserv. Much
more information is available on the above wiki page.

Re: [Dspace-tech] Install Maven and ant on solaris

2010-06-09 Thread Tim Donohue
Lewatle,

Both Maven and Ant come pre-compiled when you download them.

All you should need to do is visit their websites (see below) to
download the appropriate zip/gzip file. Just unzip the contents to the
location where you want to install them -- they should then be
immediately usable.

http://maven.apache.org/
http://ant.apache.org/

More detailed instructions are available off their websites:
* Ant Manual: http://ant.apache.org/manual/index.html
* Maven Install instructions (at bottom of page):

Re: [Dspace-tech] dspace -mvn package

2010-06-09 Thread Tim Donohue
Hi,

At a quick glance, I don't think your settings.xml is correct. The
information in the proxy tag should include the host, port, and
username/password to access you local *proxy server*. It looks like
you've incorrectly entered in the host/port/username for your DSpace
installation. DSpace itself doesn't provide a proxy -- you'll need to
determine what your local proxy server settings need to be.

So, you need to take the following steps:

(1) First, assuming you are having firewall issues, you need to find out
what your local proxy settings should be. Your local System Admin(s)
should be able to give you the information about the local proxy server.

(2) Enter the information about your local proxy server (host, port, and
the username/password required) into your settings.xml

(3) Try to run 'mvn package' or 'mvn -U package' again (the -U forces
Maven to try and update all downloaded contents). Once your correct
proxy server settings are in place, this command should work.

 http://repo1.maven.org/maven2/org/apache/maven/doxia/doxia/1.0-alpha-11/doxia-1.0-alpha-11.pom

That file downloads fine for me (both via Maven or just by using a web
browser). Are you able to access that file via your web browser? You
could also try and see if you can access that file from your
   command-line, by running:

   curl

 http://repo1.maven.org/maven2/org/apache/maven/doxia/doxia/1.0-alpha-11/doxia-1.0-alpha-11.pom

(NOTE: I recommend using 'curl', as the Maven repository specifically
blocks all 'wget' requests. If you have 'curl' installed, you should be
able to see the XML contents of that file.)

If you are unable to access this file, then that means you likely have a
local firewall which is blocking your requests. The only way to get
around your local firewall is to either (a) disable the firewall (if you
are allowed to), or (b) setup a proxy (recommended).

Take a closer look at your Maven settings.xml file (usually at
~/.m2/settings.xml). You may need to setup a proxy in that file,
   similar to the instructions here:
   http://www.dspace.org/1_6_1Documentation/ch03.html#N106E6

If you are still having issues, you could also try to run Maven with the
-e switch (as it suggests below the error messages). Doing that will
cause maven to report more information about the specific error. You'd
   just run this as follows:

   mvn -e package

[Dspace-tech] Implementing ETD-Ms in Dspace 1.6?

2010-06-09 Thread Tim Ribaric
Hello all,
Does anyone have any experience with implementing the ETD-ms in DSpace 1.6?
I'm not the best way of accomplishing it. I've tried to add it as a Metadata
registry in the DSpace admin but I'm not sure that actually worked. I've also
heard of a crosswalk that exists that might be able to do it but I think it
only supports up to DSpace 1.5.x. Further to that I haven't found any
comprehensive guide on how to tackle this... does anyone know of any good
resources for this?

Thanks,
 Tim

Re: [Dspace-tech] want to add new menu in nav-bar in Dspace

2010-06-09 Thread Allen Lam

Hi Shashidhar,

In jspui, the default left menu is written in this file:
jspui/layout/navbar-default.jsp

Modify this file to customize the menu.

Extra hints: banner, footers, etc are also defined in some other files
in that directory and are customizable.

[Dspace-tech] FW: xmlui interface giving a blank page

2010-06-09 Thread Antero Neto

I'm having a
similar issue,
It happens sporadically. The interface of Dspce XMLUI shows a blank screen and
 I need to reboot Tomcat.
JSPUI The interface
is not affected by the issue.

I'm using
version 1.6.0 of DSpace. I use a theme based on
the theme Reference which comes in DSpace.

The version of tomcat is apache-tomcat-6.0.18 and the JDK is
jdk1.6.0_13 on Debian GNU Linux 5.0.

I heve opend the issue DS-605 on http://jira.dspace.org/.
Would anyone have
 any ideas?

Hi,

I am experimenting with dspace 1.6.0 with the intention of upgrading my

access the xmlui, I got a blank page. No errors. Here is the contents of my

[Dspace-tech] FW: xmlui interface giving a blank page

2010-06-09 Thread Sergiu Ioan Irimia
I've had the same problem... well still do... But someone told me that the
google crawlers are causing the problem... He was right. After blocking all the
crawlers the problems stopped... but so as the indexing my site by google. So
i've had to create a less restrictive robots.txt. Here is the configuration:

# Uncomment the following line ONLY if sitemaps.org or HTML sitemaps are used
# and you have verified that your site is being indexed correctly.

User-agent: Googlebot

Disallow: /browse

Disallow: /bitstream
Disallow: /browse
Disallow: /browse-date
#Disallow: /community-list
#Disallow: /handle
Disallow: /html
Disallow: /htmlmap
Disallow: /browse-*
Disallow: /items-by-author*
Disallow: /advanced-search
Disallow: /contact
Disallow: /feedback
Disallow: /forgot
Disallow: /login
Disallow: /register
Disallow: /search

User-agent: *
Disallow: /

So I'm blocking all the crawlers except google (with some exceptions).

Well... this does not do the trick.

My site is still crashing.
So an alternative answer would be needed, a core tweaking one!

Any help is highly appreciated
