[Dspace-tech] Start over

2013-04-16 Thread Mark Ehle
Hello -

What's the quickest way to wipe out all dspace collections and start over?
I deleted one of my really big collections from the web interface and it
takes forever. Would clean-database and setup-database do it? Would I be
able to delete my assetstore then?

Thanks -

It saves time to list the exact wording ("This export archive is restricted.").

Here's what the comment at that place in code says:

// The user does not have read access to this bitstream. Interrupt this current
request // and then forward them to the login page so that they can be
authenticated. Once that is // successful they will request will be resumed.

I don't use that functionality, so I don't know what's wrong. One guess I would
take is - if you made the export and he's trying to download it, he probably
can't (although I'm not sure your export would show up in his "My Exports"). Is
the message the same when he tried to do the export as opposed to downloading
the export?

BTW you may test the functionality on demo.dspace.org. From my test, it works
(both exporting and downloading the export).

It's not your DB name. db.name is the RDBMS name. Your DB name is at

[Dspace-tech] Export archive "restricted"?

2013-04-16 Thread Alan Orth
All,

I've got a community admin who is trying to export metadata from his
community as a CSV. He's an admin of the community and he's logged in
but DSpace tells him that "Export of this archive is restricted". If I
log in as myself it works (I'm the super admin!).

Anyone have an idea what I've presumably misconfigured? helix84? ;)

Thanks!

Once again, the actual failure has scrolled off the display. Your
screen capture only shows warnings after DSpace has already thrown a
failure and is shutting down.

This will almost always be the case, unless you scroll back a bit.
DSpace logs a lot of messages.

Line 795 appears to be in the target "setup_database", which runs the
DSpace Script Launcher to install the database schema. I would look
for messages about failure to contact the DBMS, failure to connect to
the database, or failure to create a table, view, sequence, or the
like.

In what particular way are you unable to create the database-user and
database? There are a number of ways this could fail. Please tell us
what commands you entered and what messages resulted from them.

Notice that PostgreSQL must be not only installed but started, before
you can create Pg users or databases.

Re: [Dspace-tech] Question about Statistics

Hi Sue,

just a piece of the puzzle here but that's better than nothing, right?

>From your description it looks like you are looking at the pre-DSpace 1.6
legacy stats that are generated from the DSpace log files.
e.g: http://demo.dspace.org/xmlui/statistics?date=2013-3

In this report, everything in the "All actions performed" does not
necessarily corresponds with a total number of items at the end of the
month.

Just by looking at the field names, I would say that Items Archived in the
General overview column would be your safest bet.
However, I couldn't find exactly in the code how this number is determined.

That code is available here:
https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/tree/master/dspace-api/src/main/java/org/dspace/app/statistics

best regards,

Hi Matt,

different approaches for adding static pages are explained here:

https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSPACE/Manakin+theme+tutorial#Manakin
themetutorial-Addingstaticpages

If it's only a couple of pages and the goal, as you mention in your
subject, is to make the links nice & short, it might be quickest to deal
with this on the level of your (Apache) webserver.

Re: [Dspace-tech] nice links to static items

2013-04-16 Thread Bram Luyten
Hi Matt,

different approaches for adding static pages are explained here:
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSPACE/Manakin+theme+tutorial#Manakinthemetutorial-Addingstaticpages

If it's only a couple of pages and the goal, as you mention in your
subject, is to make the links nice & short, it might be quickest to deal
with this on the level of your (Apache) webserver.

best regards,

Bram Luyten

Hi Sanjib

To create a user, try the command *adduse*r or *useradd*.
To create a database, try following these instructions:
http://wiki.lib.sun.ac.za/index.php/SUNScholar/Prepare_Ubuntu/S06#Step_6.2:_Setup_PostgreSQL_admin_password

Cheers

[Dspace-tech] Installation of DSpace 3.1 on RHEL 6

2013-04-16 Thread SanjibKumarDeka

Now I am unable to create user and database to proceed further.

Re: [Dspace-tech] problems with ant fresh_install on DSpace 3.1

2013-04-16 Thread Hilton Gibson
Hi Atmire

If you did this to create the DSpace user account:
http://wiki.lib.sun.ac.za/index.php/SUNScholar/Install_Ubuntu/S03/DSpace_User
Then the path to the DSpace account should be /home/dspace not
/home/dspace/dspace.
See:
http://wiki.lib.sun.ac.za/index.php/SUNScholar/Install_Dspace/S04#DSpace_Folder

For your second problem, check that PostgreSQL was properly installed, see:
http://wiki.lib.sun.ac.za/index.php/SUNScholar/Prepare_Ubuntu/S06
Then check for proper settings in dspace.cfg, see:
http://wiki.lib.sun.ac.za/index.php/SUNScholar/Install_Dspace/S04#Database

Cheers
