[Dspace-tech] Can upload only single file after Dspace installation

2014-12-12 Thread Dr. Manish Joshi
Hi.

After setting-up, Dspace permits upload of only a single file (dataset). Is
this normal or do I have to purchase Dspace subscription to be able to
upload multiple datasets? Please advise.

Regards,

Dr. Manish Joshi

Re: [Dspace-tech] FW: Questions Demo XMLUI 5: Embargo on bitstreams, Batch import (ZIP) Private/Withdrawn items

2014-12-12 Thread Tim Donohue
Paolo and Lotta,

Sorry for the delay in getting back. As we are in the midst of testing
DSpace 5, we've received a lot of recent small issue reports, and we're
still catching up on all of them.

I will mention, it also helps to log issues individually in our Issue
Tracker system (https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS). Oftentimes we are
able to respond more rapidly in the Issue Tracker, simply because the
tickets act as a constant reminder.

Some answers to your issues inline below..

 Dear all,

Testing DSpace XMLUI 5 on the demo site as dspacedemo+ad...@gmail.com
mailto:dspacedemo+ad...@gmail.com we have some questions regarding 1)
Embargo on bitstreams, 2) Batch import (ZIP), and 3) Private/Withdrawn
 items.

 **

 *1.**Embargo on bitstreams ( PDF)*

After an item submission (both manual submission and csv import) it was
possible – during the week of 10^th November - to add an embargo lift
date connected to the bitstream, even in the case of having added the
bitstream (PDF) after the actual submission. And it seemed to be working
fine. Performing the same submission and actions on the 19 Nov. 14 it
was no longer possible to add an embargo lift date to the PDF (but only
 to the item record)

This first issue actually sounds like a configuration change. We seem to
have accidentally disabled the ability to embargo individual files on
the demo.dspace.org site. This option is not enabled by default, but we
had initially enabled it for early testing.

So, the result you see is simply a human mistake. We accidentally
disabled this feature (likely when we were pushing some bug fixes out to
the demo site). I've just now re-enabled it.

 **

 *2.**Batch import (ZIP)*

We performed an ‘export item’ from our repository (DSpace XMLUI 1.8.2)
http://hdl.handle.net/1814/33473 and imported it into DSpace Test 5
 XMLUI using Batch import (ZIP).

It resulted successful, but afterwards it was impossible to find the
imported item record (tried both browse and search).

·Searching by Author “DO PACO” in DSpace 5 it’s not found.

·Searching by Title “Viennese delights” in DSpace 5 it’s not found.

 ·Pasting the URL http://demo.dspace.org/xmlui/handle/1814/33473 the
imported item record is found! (URI remains
http://hdl.handle.net/1814/33473 in the imported item record)

I need to investigate this one further. I am able to reproduce this on
the Demo site, so there seems to be a problem here.

I'll log it as a bug, and we'll investigate fixing it.

 *3.**Withdrawn and Private items*

·It seems impossible to find back a private item as Admin after it’s
been made private. (what is the scope of using ‘Private’?)

There is actually a separate browse option specific to Private items.
You *must* be logged in as a full Administrator to see it
(dspacedemo+ad...@gmail.com on the demo site). For example, in the
XMLUI it's available under:

* Administrative Menu (on the right)
* Content Administration subsection
* Private Items

·It seems impossible to find back a withdrawn item as Admin after it’s
 been made withdrawn.

This is the same as with Private items. It's available under a separate
browse option under the Administrative menu

* Administrative Menu (on the right)
* Content Administration subsection
* Withdrawn Items

Thanks for reporting these issues! Sorry it took us so long to get back
on this one.

Re: [Dspace-tech] FW: Questions Demo XMLUI 5: Embargo on bitstreams, Batch import (ZIP) Private/Withdrawn items

2014-12-12 Thread Tim Donohue
A follow-up on the Batch import (ZIP) issue reported below. After
some further testing, it seems like something is misconfigured on the
demo server (http://demo.dspace.org).

Batch Importing of Zips seems to work properly on other DSpace 5 test
instances (e.g. http://trydspace5.longsight.com/ , which uses the same
logins as the Demo site).

We are still investigating exactly what is wrong on the demo server
which is causing it to act this way.

I think it's trying to find solr at http://Apex4.lib2k.bcit.ca:8080/solr/search
but by default solr is only available to the localhost so the URL should be
http://localhost:8080/solr/search.

Check your build.properties file and ensure that
solr.server=http://localhost:8080/solr is set and run maven and ant again.

Have you installed the dspace solr webapp in tomcat? My experience is that

2014-12-12 Thread Chris Gray
By the exact same error do you mean including the references
http://Apex4.lib2k.bcit.ca:8080/solr/search? Or do the errors now say
localhost:8080 instead?

You can double check that DSpace is using the right URL by checking for
these lines in the files in [dspace]/config:

modules/discovery.cfg: search.server = http://localhost:8080/solr/search

modules/oai.cfg:solr.url=http://localhost:8080/solr/oai

modules/solr-statistics.cfg:server = http://localhost:8080/solr/statistics

It's the first one that jspui is sensitive to.

[Dspace-tech] Solr Statistics--Bitstream Views question

2014-12-12 Thread Alain Tschanz
Hello,
Can somebody explain to me what exactly bitstream views are? What does it
count? I need to know how many files (bitstreams) were downloaded (click on
view/open) per month.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

We're running DSpace 4.2 on CentOS 7 with the Mirage theme.

Subject: [Dspace-tech] Can upload only single file after Dspace installation

Hi.

After setting-up, Dspace permits upload of only a single file (dataset). Is
this normal or do I have to purchase Dspace subscription to be able to
upload multiple datasets? Please advise.

Regards,

Dr. Manish Joshi
