[DX-NEWS] LU7XP SILENT KEY

2002-10-13 Thread Raul Diaz

Our old friend Jorge passed away yesterday, after a
severe heart problem.
Sure, we will miss the southern DXer in our Country,
but we will always remember the lessons Jorge gave us
in every minute of his life.
Jorge was 74 years old, and was on in every pile up
with his old vertical, and a very nice set up, but
full of patience to work that hard one.
Honest, true, a real whole guy, was only waiting for
his Mount Athos CW contact
Our condolences to his lovely and very kind wife Mary,
and we are sure Jorge will RIP.

always, you never know - Work First Worry Later (WFWL).

3B8, MAURITIUS (Also FR). Bert, PA3GIO, is now active as 3B8/PA3GIO until
October 16th. Activity should be like it was on his past operations. Watch
14195, 18145, 21295 and 28485 kHz. Also, look for him to be active as
FR/PA3GIO/p from Reunion Island, possibly starting around October 17th
ending October 26th. For more details, go to his PA3GIO DXpeditions Web
page at: http://www.pa3gio.nl/
USA Mirror Web at: http://www.qsl.net/pa3gio/

3D2, FIJI (Possibly C21). Well known DXer Ron Wright, ZL1AMO, informs
OPDX that he will be active again as 3D2RW for next few weeks beginning
about October 14th. Ron has mentioned he may try to go to Nauru (C21), but
this depends on the available accommodation. His activities are usually
RTTY and CW. QSL via his CBA.

3G, CHILE. Ferdi, XQ5SM, will activate the special callsign 3G5A and
participate in the CQWW SSB Contest as a Single- Op/All Band/Low Power
entry. QSL direct to his home callsign XQ5SM.

4L0, GEORGIA. Operators 4L1DA/David, 4L2M/Mamuka, DL7BO/Thomas and
4L4CR/Mike, will be active as 4L0G in the CQ World Wide DX SSB Contest

next week or so (until October 18th, but possibly longer). He will be on
SSB 17-10 meters and 75 meters from 2200-0200z. Dave states that his last
trip was not equipped for 12 meters, and he had many requests for that
band, so he has planned a special effort there if propagation cooperates.
QSL via bureau, SASE home callsign, or e-QSL (He is AG for Trinidad).

CE4, CHILE. CE4FXY is expected to use the special callsign CE4Y in the
CQ World Wide DX SSB Contest (October 26-27th) as a Single Op/Single Band

be on the WARCs and the low bands. Also, he will take part in the CQWW DX
