lock to launcher / unlock from launcher not working...

Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
When I either click on Lock to Launcher or Unlock from Launcher
  nothing happens.

  Ubuntu Version: 13.10
  Unity Version: 7

  Steps Taken:

  - reinstall unity / ubuntu-desktop

The only way I'm able to change the icons currently is manually

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1232863] [NEW] shut down, power off, log off menu not working

2013-10-01 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I have just upgraded to ubuntu 1310 by upgrade tool. Since I have
restarted the computer the power off menu shut down, restart, log off
functions are not working at all. I cannot shut down computer from the
menu. However I can do it from cairo dock's menu. Cairo Dock gives unity
options to shut down or restart as it should be. Also the physical Power
Button of the laptop gives 4 unity options. Other menu options are
working such as system information, lock donw. When I have upgraded I
have chosen to keep all config files that I had a question window for
it, mostly xdg/autostart. I dont know this has got anything to do with
it.

Bug description:
  CID 201209-11735

For some machines, for example, HP laptop HP 1000 has a hot key on F4 to
perform the shorcut super + p to switch video modes.
Use command sudo showkey -k to capture the key code of the hot key you will
see the key code of super key and p
This key combination is expected to change the video mode.

  image: 12.04.3

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. open an terminal,
  2. plugin an external monitor
  3. press the video switch hotkey, for HP 1000 it is the F4 key

  Expected result:
  1. Video mode is changed by the hotkey
  2. no character is printed on terminal

  Actual result
  1. Video mode is not changed.
  2. a p will be printed on the terminal screen

  The other information:
  1. A similar bug was reported on LP:#539477 before.
  2. The hotkey in 13.04 works

Title:
Unity fails to load on old hardware on Saucy

Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
On logging in I see just the wallpaper with no top panel and no launcher.
Note that this is not bug #1066764 (Unity fails to load on old hardware
(compiz enabling LLVMpipe has no effect and Mesa tries to use hardware still))
as compiz is at 1:0.9.9~daily13.04.18.1~13.04-0ubuntu4 and the errors for that
bug are not seen in .xsessionerrors.

  .xsessionerrors only contains
Script for cjkv started at run_im.
Script for default started at run_im.

The graphics is an intel 865 chipset.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1233628] [NEW] disabling bluetooth makes battery's setting switch to hide

That's an issue on the touch image, the system-settings' battery code
used the enable/disable switch from the indicator over qmenumodel, or

We should probably export another widget for the settings to use

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1212821] Re: Unity fails to load on old hardware on Saucy

2013-10-01 Thread Stephen M. Webb
Yeah, it's very unfortunate that apport incorrectly marks bugs as dups
and removes the traceback information before a developer gets a chance
to look.

It really sounds like a problem when running unity-support-test during
the boot sequence, and the fingers generally point to a bug in the
OpenGL driver somewhere. Is there any way you could capture a stack
trace (crash report, whatever) and attach to this bug instead?

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1233739] [NEW] IBus Autopilot test failures

2013-10-01 Thread Brandon Schaefer
Public bug reported:

The IBus autopilot tests are failing because g-s-d (gnome-system-daemon)
insists on always starting the ibus-daemon when im-config is set to
something else. Another problem is g-s-d starts the ibus-daemon with
this option --panel disable this causes all ibus input to fail, yet
the ibus-daemon is open.

We were in argument to take out the dbus call in g-s-d, but that has to
be merged before the ibus tests will pass again. Unless im-config -n
ibus is set by default...

with this option --panel disable this causes all ibus input to fail,
  yet the ibus-daemon is open.

We were in argument to take out the dbus call in g-s-d, but that has
to be merged before the ibus tests will pass again. Unless im-config
-n ibus is set by default...

Bug description:
  Ciao,
as the title says after upgrading from 13.04 to 13.10 I have some problem
with workspaces.

In particular I cannot use anymore the shortcuts
  - L_CTRL+ALT-arrow down
  - L_CTRL+ALT-arrow up
to move up and down between workspaces.
The left and right shortcuts still work, so the problem is only with up/down
arrows.

One more think to note that probably is related to the above.
The same happens while I try to move a windows to another workspace using
keybord shortcut L_CTRL+L_SHIFT+ALT+arrows, only left and right arrows work,
up/down no.
I tried to disable and enable workspaces from settings menu and tried to
reset to default but is the same.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1224931] Re: Charge level isn't updated after going out of suspend

2013-10-01 Thread Charles Kerr
This looks like a two-part issue.

One, indicator-power needs to listen for the Resuming signal from
upower to know when the system is resuming from suspend / hibernate. I'm
linking a branch to do this.

Two, it looks like upower isn't emitting this signal properly, so I'm
going to add also-affects upower.

Looks like maybe this signal should be emitted by a call to /lib/systemd
/system-sleep/notify-upower.sh as per the desciption in
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51305 but I'm not seeing
the signal appear either in indicator-power or dbus-monitor.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1227595] Re: [touch] The screen brightness change is not realtime

2013-10-01 Thread Charles Kerr
This is coming from
unity8/plugins/Unity/Indicators/qml/SliderMenuItem.qml, which uses the
Ubuntu UI Toolkit's slider but explicitly sets the 'live' property to
false so that there won't be realtime updates.

I'm not sure whether or not there was a Good Reason it was done this
way. Looks like Renato wrote the original version that included the
live: false line, so assigning him under also-affects Unity 8 so that
he can give a second opinion on this ticket.

Bug description:
When using an additional external monitor, the reveal of the global
application menu on the laptop (left) monitor only works for the first
menu entry if the two screens are bottom aligned.

The menu only appears when mousing over the first menu entry or the empty
area of the global title/menu panel. When moving the mouse over the area where
the other menu entries are supposed to be, it disappears and the window title
is shown again.
The only option is to mouse-over the first (left) menu entry, click it and
then move over to the other menu entries.

All works as expected on the right (external) monitor.

Also this only seems to not work correctly if the two screens (with different
resolutions) are aligned at the bottom or the left (laptop) monitor is placed
lower.
Works correctly again as soon as they are top-aligned or the right external
monitor is placed higher.
