[Dx-packages] [Bug 1238346] Re: on bootup wrong keyboard layout is recognized
Just to give some precision: when I display the Présentation de l'agencement (keyboard layout or layout presentation or whatever) who displays a keyboard, its a french keyboard which is displayed and when I hit the left corner alphabetical key on the keyboard it shows that the left corner key is hit and that it is an a but in all programs it's a q which appears. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1237361] Re: Clock options greyed out in settings and missing from top panel
This happened to me after I added a Time in other locations (via the GUI: Settings Time Date Clock) and at the same time, removed UTC. I didn't want UTC to be shown, just my current time zone (British Summer Time) and the timezone in California, but it also showed UTC which is currently 1 hour behind (but won't be for much longer). I fixed it with: sudo dpkg-reconfigure tzdata and a restart of the computer -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to indicator-datetime in Ubuntu. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1232814] Re: Hibernate option is missing from menu in 13.10 even after trying to re-enable
Hi, 1) Weird enough the method by Jeffery To, namely the editing of /etc/polkit-1/localauthority/50-local.d/com.ubuntu.enable-hibernate.pkla to include the logind polkit authorization works in a kubuntu machine and is persistent here... So it fails on my ubuntu laptop but it works on my kubuntu laptop. Here gdbus call --system --dest org.freedesktop.login1 --object-path /org/freedesktop/login1 --method org.freedesktop.login1.Manager.CanHibernate returns 'Yes', not 'Challenge' as on the Ubuntu machine. 2) to Shiraz Dindar. Thanks to the pointer to the not-actually-hybrid- suspend-mode. That's quite interesting! However, I'm a bit scared by it. I wonder what happens if I suspend and the laptop decides to switch on to hibernate, doing tons of disk activity, when I am on my Vespa on the infamous 'pavé' (sort of quite irregular stone surface) present in many Italian roads... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to indicator-session in Ubuntu. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1242633] [NEW] unity pointer barriers sru bug
Public bug reported: x11proto-input, libxfixes, libxi, unity and unity-2d in precise needs updates to work with the new pointer barrier api from x1.14. [Impact] * Pointer barrier api has changed between 1.13 and 1.14. (xorg-server-lts-saucy) * Modifications in unity and unity-2d are required to support both api's. [Test Case] * Update all packages. * Test pointer barriers on an old xorg-server, they should continue to work. * Test pointer barriers on the new xorg-server, they should work. [Regression Potential] * Low, it enables a separate code path for pointer barriers. The code in unity is a bit different due to copying the rework from upstream unity and keeping the old paths for legacy pointer barriers. Upstream dropped the old paths. [Other Info] * It's a bit of a hack. The old pointer barrier symbols live in libxfixes, the new ones in libxi. Because of the overlap some modifications had to be made to allow both pointer barriers to be included. The issue there is rather due the way sessions are closed than indicator-session itself, you can check the status with: $ loginctl list-users - lists the connected users $ loginctl user-status username - lists the status of the session for that user The issue there seems to be that some processes are still running after the session close (indicators, pulseaudio in some times) which makes the session still be open for logind... [Dx-packages] [Bug 968533] Re: Alt-tab to Firefox sends Firefox to 100% CPU; unity-panel-service to 80% CPU and hud-service to 20-80% CPU
Hi, I'm using Firefox and suffered from often occasional lockups of system due to overload of both CPU cores by 2 unity-panel-service processes and hud-service. Especially often this behavior vere triggered when I tried to type a text on any forum (and that as extremely annoying). That happened pretty much often like every hour and sometimes a few times in a row. I think I found the reason why it happened to me and finally fixed it. Apperently I had ~30 RSS feeds in the bookmars menu + Feed Sidebar addon which caused them to reload every hour (not all at once but all during each hour). So, as result structure of the menu were changed every now and then. And these changes sometimes caused Unity Panel and HUD to overload system! So, to fix this issue I had moved all my RSS feeds and dynamic bookmars into Unsorted Bookmarks section which does not shows up on the menu (it's actually there but only as a link to open a bookmarks manager). Seems like occasional freezes disappeared from that moment. It's understandable that dynamic changes in the menu could require some resources but I'm pretty much sure that hoggin 100% of 64 bit dual-core CPU during 10-30 seconds is pretty much odd thing to do. At least I don't need these RSS feeds in the bookmarks menu but what will have to do those with RSS feeds on the bookmarks toolbar? Moving such feeds into Unsorted Bookmarks will totally break their workflow. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. Hello Jeremy, or anyone else affected, Accepted gnome-control-center into saucy-proposed. The package will build now and be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome- control-center/1:3.6.3-0ubuntu45 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision. Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . If you have indicator-power installed, you should see the option to configure whether it shows. [ Regression potential ] This adds some new code to check if the GSettings schema is installed, since that's a reliable way to check for indicator-power's presence, and is what the code modifies. It also makes the option appear in DEs other than Unity. There's a chance that the GSettings schema-detection work could be wrong. It also wouldn't hurt to check non-Unity environments such as a gnome-panel session. [ Original report ] I see that unity recommends indicator-power; let's make it a depends instead.
