[Dx-packages] [Bug 1290785] Re: Users with UID 60000 are invisible in login and Settings-User unless /etc/login.defs updated
Robert, if I found the correct sources, then I Ithink something went very wrong with your patch for trusty: I found sources for version 0.6.35-0ubuntu7.1 here: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/trusty/+queue?queue_state=1 , namely: http://launchpadlibrarian.net/179519600/accountsservice_0.6.35-0ubuntu7.1.dsc http://launchpadlibrarian.net/179519599/accountsservice_0.6.35-0ubuntu7.1.debian.tar.xz http://launchpadlibrarian.net/179519598/accountsservice_0.6.35.orig.tar.gz and the diff: http://launchpadlibrarian.net/179519604/accountsservice_0.6.35-0ubuntu7_0.6.35-0ubuntu7.1.diff.gz As one can already guess from the diff, this is not only the patch mentioned above, but quite a lot of aclocal/m4 files were simply removed from the sources. This leads to build errors as you can see from the attached log excerpt from a pbuilder run. The old version accountsservice_0.6.35-0ubuntu7 compiles without any problems, but the new one just doesn't. compile at all. Please correct this. ** Attachment added: accountsservice_0.6.35-0ubuntu7.1 compile error log from pbuilder run https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/accountsservice/+bug/1290785/+attachment/4149529/+files/accountsservice-0.6.35-0ubuntu7.1_pbuilder-error.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to accountsservice in Ubuntu. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1290785] Re: Users with UID 60000 are invisible in login and Settings-User unless /etc/login.defs updated
After some more search I found that the original gzipped tar archive that is referenced in your new version accountsservice_0.6.35-0ubuntu7.1.dsc differs a lot from the xz-compressed original tar used by the old trusty version: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archive/primary/+files/accountsservice_0.6.35.orig.tar.xz This is exactly the difference seen in the diff mentioned above. In the attached accountsservice_0.6.35-0ubuntu7.1.dsc I have just replaced all references to the dubios accountsservice_0.6.35.orig.tar.gz by the corresponding lines for accountsservice_0.6.35.orig.tar.xz as found in https://launchpadlibrarian.net/162749972/accountsservice_0.6.35-0ubuntu7.dsc (and removed the pgp signature). With this change the packag compiles cleanly and works as expected. @Robert: please use the working original tar.xz from the old package and repost the patch. Thanks. ** Attachment added: accountsservice_0.6.35-0ubuntu7.1.dsc with corrected accountsservice_0.6.35.orig.tar.xz https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/accountsservice/+bug/1290785/+attachment/4149542/+files/accountsservice_0.6.35-0ubuntu7.1.dsc -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to accountsservice in Ubuntu. This steals focus and disrupts the workflow quite severely. This was much worse in earlier Unity versions, 5.8 already made this a lot better. But this case still remains for me. When I leave some time (0.5 s or so) between pressing Alt and the cursor key, this does not happen. But when pressing them almost at the same time, the bug happens. I can reproduce this 100%, so feel free to ask for any additional debugging info. The problem is not that I hit the Cursor key before alt. This proves it: $ xev | grep -A2 ^KeyPress KeyPress event, serial 36, synthetic NO, window 0x381, root 0xbe, subw 0x0, time 17590219, (112,69), root:(113,867), state 0x0, keycode 64 (keysym 0xffe9, Alt_L), same_screen YES, -- KeyPress event, serial 36, synthetic NO, window 0x381, root 0xbe, subw 0x0, time 17590299, (112,69), root:(113,867), state 0x8, keycode 113 (keysym 0xff51, Left), same_screen YES, and I get the HUD. It does not matter which application/window is focussed. It happens in gnome-terminal, Firefox, or the blank desktop all alike. It does not happen with other Alt key combinations, just with the cursor keys. I also saw this happen quite a lot with Ctrl+Alt (controlling screen grab in KVM) or Ctrl+Alt+Cursor (changing workspaces), but I cannot reliably reproduce those. The problem is that indicator-session is using the policykit meaning of the word active, instead of checking for currently logged in and working users, i.e. it thinks that only one user can be working on a PC at a given time. From src/backend-dbus/users.c, line 593: ret-is_current_user = uid == p-active_uid; So if I'm logged in from a thin client, or via NX, or via XDMCP etc etc, indicator-session doesn't match the uid of its own process to tell me who I am, but just relies on the matching of the active user. Thus I can't see my username if I enable show-real-name-on-panel, I don't see the dot that means current user in the menu's user list etc. A solution would be to use getuid() in the code above. [Dx-packages] [Bug 741869] Re: Unity/compiz intercepts Super and Alt keypresses from grabbed windows like VMs.
Don't know why, but there seems to be Tab button problem too. Playing Valiant Hearts under Wine I noticed that pressing Tab doesn't perform anything. But if I run this game on another X server - the Tab button opens inventory as it supposed to be. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. When the indicator does an update (several times per hour), the icon is recreated (as an SVG file) and so the icon changes over time. Recently, the icon is not showing any change unless I mouse click the icon (or label). I'm on Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit and my indicator uses Python 3 and Appindicator3. I have attached a sample script which is representative of the issue and shows an icon which should change every three seconds. The icon itself is an SVG file and shows a numerical count, starting from zero and increments every three seconds. I have tested on Ubuntu 12.04 and Xubuntu 12.04 (via VirtualBox) and the icon DOES change on each three second update. Testing on Ubuntu 14.04, the icon does NOT change UNLESS I click on it. If I change the label text on each update, the icon WILL also change, but only if I don't repeat the SAME text for the label. FYI: I initially asked this at http://askubuntu.com/questions/490634 /application-indicator-icon-not-changing-until-clicked but have had no response. Thanks in advance, Bernmeister. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1325353] Re: Lock/Switch stay in session menu even if disabled
I've proposed this for 14.04 LTS because in 12.04 LTS while the menus were laid out differently (user options were a separate indicator) they did honour the org.gnome.desktop.lockdown keys. This feature is likely to be used on large Ubuntu deployments. ** Changed in: indicator-session (Ubuntu Trusty) Status: New = Triaged ** Changed in: indicator-session (Ubuntu Trusty) Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Changed in: indicator-session (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Robert Ancell (robert-ancell) ** Changed in: indicator-session Assignee: (unassigned) = Robert Ancell (robert-ancell) ** Changed in: indicator-session Status: Triaged = In Progress ** Changed in: indicator-session (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged = In Progress -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to indicator-session in Ubuntu.
