Jim, This works already in 5.03 except it is broken when you are adding in real-time mode and using a radio. This is fixed for the next release. Don, Note that a double-click in a summary window is actually sets a special QSO filter that filters all QSOs for that band and generic mode. When the logbook window is open, you will see all QSOs that have been filtered. Ralph, This typically happens when you move the software to another computer with a different operating system. The Appendix: Files, has the list of files needed, and at the bottom of that list are the two different CW (port) drivers. You can retrieve these files, or any other file for that matter, from the installation program by executing the install program with the /X parameter. Like: dx4w503.exe /X (Works quickest on the command line) Paul At 04:43 PM 1/22/03 +, Ralph Fedor wrote: >For a very long time now, I have been using DX4WIN (5.03) and upon opening the >program getting the pop-up message, "COULD NOT OPEN CW DRIVER." > >I've been ignoring this and just using my paddle, but how do I get back to >being able to use the keyboard and memories again? > >Thanks -- >Ralph - K0IR > > >___ >Dx4win mailing list >Dx4win@mailman.qth.net >http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Paul van der Eijk (KK4HD) [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.dx4win.com

Don, If I want to see the QSO's I have QSL'ed but not confirmed I do a search by putting a date in the QSL Date box and N in the confirmed box. The result is all the QSO's QSL'ed after that date that I have not confirmed. You may have to set QSO Date in Preferences to Greater Equal for that to work. 73, Alan N5NA - Original Message - From: "Don Prater" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Sent: Wednesday, January 22, 2003 16:39 PM Subject: [Dx4win] Search Features > I would like to be able to search on the "Country" attributes. But wouldn't it make better sense to have it be some different color BEFORE you stop it, rather than after? I like to be reminded when I haven't done something I should. I suppose you can get into the habit of always clicking the time field and then back to RSTS when someone answers your call, but it would be nice to be reminded, and even nicer to have an alt-Fx combination you could click to freeze the clock without having to tab or click back and forth. Maybe I'm missing something that's already there, in which case I'm sure somebody will enlighten us both. 73, Pete N4ZR The World HF Contest Station Database has just been updated. I have been having an intermittent problem with DX4WIN V5.03 for a few months now that is potentially serious. Occasionally when I save the database or close DX4WIN before shutdown, I get an error writing the log file during the saving of my log data. When this happens, usually the last 80% of my log entries are lost with each lost entry replaced with some specific data in certain fields. In the BAND area I get "xxxm". In the TIME area I get "". And in the MODE area it is always "AM". There may be other fields that are always changed to a constant, but those are the fields that I remember. This all gets repeated for about 60,000 QSOs and the real data is lost. When the failure occurs, a correct log file cannot be found anywhere on my harddrive. What saves me is that I usually do a daily backup on a zip file that I update every night only before I shutdown. I use a stand-alone batch file to execute this backup. My log file has 87,000 entries in it and it would be a disaster for me to lose that much DXing data. After the failure and I reload the log file, the log data is correct up to about the first 20,000 entries. But the last 60,000 QSOs are lost being replaced with the data I mentioned above. I don't know if there is an answer for this problem. But I do think that everyone should have a regular, independent method of backing up their log file. Any suggestions? The problem really got scary yesterday when I had some problems reading my backup file on the zip drive. I eventually recovered the database though. Whew! 73, Richard [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Richard I don't think that there is an event log on win98SE. The fact that you have tried it on another machine and it hasn't failed is good news. I can recommend the following: Make sure that all maintenance available from Microsoft is installed I really think that the hard drive of the drive controller is going south.. Is it an Ultra DMA hard drive without and Ultra DMA cable? (this problem drove me nuts for about 3 months) It may be a power supply problem. I learned the hard way that computer power supplies are not created equal. Look very very closely at the power ratings. Some of the wattages are combined. Can you get a new harddrive and do a total reinstall of Win98SE (I highly recommend XP Home--the software is almost 4 years newer than Win98). Also, with an event log, it makes it easier to track problems like this. I also think that you will find XP faster than Win98SE. Unfortunately, there isn't an easy solution here. Your just going to have to keep trying things until it goes away. 73... Mike VA3MW - Original Message - From: "Richard L.
