Hi,

Has anybody succeeded to make work correctly the IC735 with DX4WIN? My IC735 I
want to use in my portable location permanently times-out, with all
combinations of polling times and retries, using standard 1200bps and 04

Please respond to my Yahoo mail!

[Dx4win] Label printing problem

2011-07-15 Thread Jay Hainline
I have recently been having a problem printing QSL labels from DX4win ver.
8.05.

Even though I have chosen more than one QSO to print a label, when I go to
print, the Print QSL labels window only shows 1 QSO to print. It also
defaults to checkmarking the printing of the manager labels and method
labels as well as the commercial even though I keep unchecking them. I think
there is a file corrupt somewhere but not sure of the remedy. I am looking
for suggestions.

[Dx4win] DX4WIN.AWD award database release 3.18 - 15 July 2011

2011-07-15 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
I have updated the DX4WIN.AWD file. This release contains 183 awards.
You can download it from:

 http://dx4win.ad1c.us/awards/

But it's easier to use the DX4WIN Data Updater:

 http://dx4win.ad1c.us/updater

The .ZIP file also contains a number of membership list files
(plain-text files with a .list extension). These can be used to
identify member calls in the DX Spots window. Please read the
application note on Membership Lists for more information.

You can read the full release notes here:

 http://dx4win.ad1c.us/awards/index.htm#3.18

The WFF (World Flora Fauna) and SOTA (Summits on the Air) awards are
new. SOTA had to be split up into a separate award per country or
region (HB0, W7, etc.) due to a limitation of the DX4WIN QSO structure.
Therefore, the awards are named like this:

 SOTA - Liechtenstein (HB0)
 SOTA - USA (W7)

If you enter a callsign, DX4WIN should allow you to choose the correct
award name and value, based on the callsign entity. If this structure
doesn't suit people, there are ways to change it, but they are less elegant.

are you sure that your label has the space for more than 1 qso? I use it
always at 0 (it means print as more as you can). So i have not tested if
other numbers work but 0 works for sure.
Try to change the label height and make a preview on the screen. Otherwise
double click the fonts and reduce the font size. I remember that there is a
problem with the commercial (it comes back on). Probably a bug...

[Dx4win] Southern Sudan

2011-07-15 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
I'm hearing rumors (and that's all they are so far) that S. Sudan has
been added to the ARRL DXCC List as a new entity., effective 14 July
2011 I have not heard whether the ITU has assigned a prefix yet. If
you hear anything unusual on the air today, get on and work it. I'll
release the DX4WIN county file tonight (some time between 00-04z
Friday 7/15 UTC).

*DO NOT* change the Prefix field in your QSO(s) to ST0. This is the
prefix of the OLD (deleted) DXCC entity. If you do this, even
upgrading the country file *won't* fix it, you'll have to manually
change them back. Just log the QSO and even if the prefix field is
empty, the new country file will make all the right things happen.

Re: [Dx4win] Label printing problem

2011-07-15 Thread Jay Hainline
No let me try to clarify. I am trying to print out multiple labels for
different callsigns but the program will only show 1 label to print.

I ended up hitting F9 to go back to logging real time and then went to the
QSLs drop down menu to select print QSLs labels. For whatever reason, that
time it worked and I was able to print out the labels that I needed. Still
had to uncheckmark the options and the commercial but at least I got what I
needed done. Still scratching my head however.

[Dx4win] DX4WIN.CTY country file Release #98 - 15 July 2011

2011-07-15 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
The DX4WIN country file, DX4WIN.CTY Release #98 is now available from:

http://www.country-files.com/dx4win/

You can read the release notes at:

http://www.country-files.com/dx4win/release.shtml

You can use the DX4WIN Data Updater to update the file:

http://dx4win.ad1c.us/updater/

I've added "Republic of South Sudan", starting 14 July 2011, but it's
really just a placeholder at this point, because the ITU has not issued
a prefix block for this new entity. This entity is using the prefixes
ST0, 6T0 and 6U0. Be aware that ST2M has been signing ST0A, but this is
from Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, and not the new DXCC entity.

If the new entity comes on the air *before* I have released a new
country file, here's what to do: Just log the callsign that they are
sending. Don't append /ST0 or anything else on to it. You can change
the Prefix field in your logbook to "ST0" if you like (future QSOs with
that same callsign will then automatically come up as ST0). When
another country file is released, either with the ITU prefix, or the
callsign assigned to the DXpedition, just update the country file, and
your logbook will be automatically updated as well. If you change the
callsign (i.e. by adding /ST0 to the end of it), DX4WIN will likely
*not* think that's the new entity, and you'll have to undo this change
to receive DX4WIN credit for the entity.

PLEASE STOP!! I've been getting a flood of responses to this,
Friday morning, 24 hours after the original posting. I thought that
minutes later, I had posted the ARRL DX Bulletin to the reflector
(which confirmed the "rumor"), but the list archives are down at the
moment, so I can't check. I also released updated country files last
night.

So please, I don't need to hear it from anyone else! I know what happened.

I am not sure how to make it more easy to understand. I had 2 QSL cards from
2 different stations that I needed to print a label for. After placing the
"Y" in the label field and saving it with the F10 key for each of the 2 log
entries, I went to print my 2 labels but DX4WIN would only show 1 label to
print rather than 2 even though both log entries had the "Y" in the label
field. I was not printing by groups. I was printing "ALL".

Jay i can not understand whta you mean abt different callsigns.
Have you them in different groups? Then dx4win normally will print different
label for every group. Do you want group's name to be printed? Anyway happy
you found a solution.

[Dx4win] ARLD028 The Republic of South Sudan Is Now a DXCC Entity

2011-07-15 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C

DX Bulletin 28  ARLD028

SB DX ARL ARLD028
ARLD028 The Republic of South Sudan Is Now a DXCC Entity

At 10:18 AM (EDT) on Thursday, July 14, the UN General Assembly met
to vote on whether or not to admit the Republic of South Sudan as
its 193rd member state. The Republic of South Sudan was unanimously
admitted and is now a member of the United Nations; a two-thirds
majority is needed to become a member of the UN.

Immediately following the General Assembly meeting, the flag of the
Republic of South Sudan flew for the first time in front of the UN,
ceremoniously marking its membership in the UN.

Now that the Republic of South Sudan is a member of the United
Nations, the new country is now a DXCC entity by way of Section II,
1(a) of the DXCC rules. The DXCC Desk will begin immediately
accepting QSOs for this new entity, with a start date of July 14,
2011.

According to DXCC Manager Bill Moore, NC1L, the Honor Roll numbers
move from 340 to 341 for the Top of the Honor Roll, and for Honor
Roll it becomes 332. "The deadline for the Honor Roll and annual
listings is December 31, so you must submit the new entity to DXCC
by then in order to retain your Honor Roll status," Moore explained.

"For Logbook of The World (LoTW), you may submit all your QSOs with
the Republic of South Sudan stations anytime. There is no need to
hold them out of your log or do anything differently from what you
already have been doing. You do not need to assign country names or
identifiers. After we issue certificates to the Republic of South
Sudan license holders, LoTW will make matches and assign the correct
entities automatically."

As of July 14, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has
not announced a prefix block for the Republic of South Sudan.

ST0 is 'deleted' and will be counted as a 'deleted country'.

Republic of South Sudan will be a new country.

[Dx4win] Radio Control works with N1MM, but not DX4WIN

2011-07-15 Thread Hugh Valentine
Ft-920
Win 7

Baud and Com Port set at same for DX4WIN and N1MM.
Radio does not track with DX4WIN. It will grab a spot from the band map. but
when turning VFO or changing Bands, the Band Map will not move with the Radio.

Winkeyer for CW.

Keying fine in N1MM, But although the internal keyer in DX4WIN shows messages
in it's window, the DX4WIN doesn't key the rig.

Any suggestions?

Any help appreciated. My already thinning hair is falling out with this. The
DX4WIN tracking worked a few months ago.

Re: [Dx4win] Label printing problem

2011-07-15 Thread Kostas Stamatis
Then you probably had different qsl method in each qso. For example buro in
the first qso and direct in the second one. If you have the same qsl method
then both qsos will be printed in one label, if qsl method is different then
two seperate lables will be printed.

Re: [Dx4win] Radio Control works with N1MM, but not DX4WIN

2011-07-15 Thread Kostas Stamatis
dx4win's winkey setup is a little tricky
Be aware that if in File>preferences>cw tab select device type as WinKey the
winkey port is defined Under "external keyer" and NOT under interface. have
you it ok?
About bandmap now... It's not working as in contest programs (n1mm and
writelog) as it doesn' track so good the radio. Beside this have in mind
that there is a bug on 6m (nmaybe on 10m) where it doesn't work good at
all...

Very nice tip indeed. It works great. Should be great to have this
updated by AD1C's tool.
