[Dx4win] Wish for next version of DX4Win

2011-12-10 Thread Ernie Walls
My wish for the next version is the same as for the last version, and the
one before that, and the.

That is, that the name and QTH of the contact be correct as at the date of
the QSO with that particular station.

It seems to me that any top-class logger would have that as a given, but
DX4Win changes one, changes all!

Sigh.

[Dx4win] Wish List - Spots

2011-12-10 Thread Hugh Valentine
As stated earlier: I would like to see the ability to see only spots needed
for band Challenge.
In other words, If I have a band that has at least one mode confirmed, I would
not see the Any mode spots for that band. This clutters up the DX Spots
screen. So many of us are interested in the Challenge now. Once a Band
country has been confirmed, I don't need to see additional spots for
CW/Phone,etc...if I have that band country confirmed...excuse meEntity.

Also, a combined startup for the Cluster Connect when DX4WIN is Opened would be
very nice. I am not sure if it can be done in 8.05.

Thanks to everyone who has made DX4WIN what it is today. I enjoy it and have
become dependent upon its powers.

Re: [Dx4win] Wish for next version of DX4Win

2011-12-10 Thread Mel
IMO it's never going to happen Ernie...

You have to understand that DX4Win is designed primarily as an award
chasing and tracking program. What you are complaining about is one of
it's best features... for award tracking you generally only care about
current information. One edit and it's all up to date! For those
exceptional situations where you need info linked to a QSO instead of
the callsign, you have the free-form "Notes for this QSO". If what you
want is a historical archive of all your contacts, then you should
transfer your DX4Win QSO's to something better suited. A program like
DXKeeper would be the ticket, and it's free.

Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN calendar - UPDATED

2011-12-10 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
After importing the calendar, there are still some problems with DX
operations that begin in 2012 (like HK0NA and TO5G). I'll let Leo
work on this some more.

I think this is where the problem starts in the file:

01/12/2011 00:00:00,31/12/2011 23:59:59,TM100SP: special callsign (France)
01/01/2011 00:00:00,30/06/2011 23:59:59,5P12EU: special callsign (Denmark)

As a work-around, remove all entries starting with 5P21EU until the
end of the file, before importing.

[Dx4win] Intgegrating VE7CC CC User with DX4WIN

2011-12-10 Thread Chaz Cone
A week ago I posted a "help" request here trying to find a way to use a
cluster's sh/dx command to honor the filters I'd laboriously set up. Among the
helpful responses I received was that DX spider and VE7CC supper the
"show/mydx" command which works like "show/dx" except that it honors the
filters. Hooray!

A number of folks on this reflector wrote and asked that if I solved this
problem, they'd like to know how.

I wrote a white paper "Integrating VE7CC CC User with DX4WIN" and sent it out
to those folks. Someone said I should publish it more widely, so I have.

The document is presently in version 1.2 and is a work in progress. You can
download it from here:

www.w4gkf.com/dxcluster

If you use it and have comments or criticisms I'd love to hear from you off
list.

I hope this helps folks.

Happy Holidays!

2011-12-10 Thread Mark Lunday
Anyone having success with this? I am using 8.03 with VE7CC. I have VE7CC
program working fine, running when I start DX4WIN.

But under DX4WIN, upon selecting internet address and choosing LOCAL>CC
User,localhost:7300, I am not prompted for any user credentials. In fact,
nothing happens at all.

I am able to connect directly to VE7CC-1 from the DX4WIN program (but this
keeps timing out, so I want to use the VE7CC program directly with DX4WIN).

Mark,
What you have set up works fine for me and has done so for some years. I am
using CC User to connect sometimes to VE7CC-1 but mostly to a cluster in the
UK. I have moved LOCAL>CC User,localhost:7300 to the top of the cluster list
and I have to click on SH/DX in the packet window. It works fine.
