[Dx4win] LOTW DXCC QSL Download issue

2015-02-23 Thread IZ5FSA Leonardo
There is an important feature in LOTW DXCC Award called DXCC QSL Download.
In a ADIF format you can download the Credit Matrix details of the
Awarded Credits.
Why don't use it to check our DXCC application status
Import ADIF and Check DXCC as CONFIRMED will be the solution.

Isn't it?

[Dx4win] ARRL Logbook of the World DXCC QSL Card Report

2014-10-07 Thread IZ5FSA Leonardo
Hi to all.
On LOTW site, in the Award Account Menu, you can select the DXCC QSL
Download entry and you'll receive an ADIF file in which you can find all
QSOs you have submitted and confirmed (applied) for DXCC.

It will be a nice tools for DX4WIN to manage this file to update the DXCC
credits.

I submit this issue for future feature of this fantastic hamradio log!

If we can manage directly an ADIF file to set C value to any DXCC
possible Award... it will be a very nice IMPORT feature.

Also from IOTA you can download a CSV file...

[Dx4win] LOTW score automation issue... and other stuffs

2014-01-05 Thread IZ5FSA

Hi to all.

I'm a LOTW user since version 5. I think this is the simpliest and
powerfull dx logging program on the air.
But I had to ask a pretty *new* feature: LOTW let you download the list
of QSOs that are used for claim the score... Can you import that file
using their proprietary fields to update the award status flags
(confirmed, submitted, checked)? We have a nice help from AD1C tool to
manage DXCC scores... but the DXCC QSL Download
https://lotw.arrl.org/lotwuser/logbook/qslcards.php?ac_acct=1 is a useful

Other thing about online callbook... they all have XML direct access...
why DX4WIN don't interface XML directly??? I think there are more OMs
internet connected then CD callbook users...

I wait to see dx4win version number 9 with new improvement and features.

Jim Reisert AD1C ha scritto:
If you're using Firefox, use File | Save Page As...

I can't speak for Safari, Opera or Chrome.

Note that this is NOT a database that maps callsigns to IOTA! It's a
database that lists IOTA island names for each IOTA Group. For example,
IOTA EU003 consists of these islands:

Formigas islands
Santa Maria
Sao Miguel

When you go to a QSO where the IOTA is EU003, you can further select one
of those three island names in the IOTA Island field.

An IOTA application must include both the IOTA reference (group) number,
as well as the actual island name (from the QSL card). QSOs made after
1 January 2001 *must* have the Island Name (i.e. Sao Miguel) PRINTED
(not hand-written) on the QSL card.

So this is how it works

Open the included helpfile.pdf in C:\DX4W801\DOCS
Go to page 146 or via notes to Files not included with .
 Or this link http://www.rsgbiota.org/xml/fullist.xml
When you click on it your browser should open and populate
The window , wait a few seconds until all has arrived
Now in your browser go to file and do SAVE AS
 Only change path to C:\DX4W801\SAVE

 That’s it

today, updating the documentation and the website will still take some
time. I also decided not to attend the Hamvention but work on the
program instead. I will miss the personal interaction, but hope to
make up by releasing the next version sooner.

The next release will have a few interesting items, such as a band map, a

 I will keep you posted

Hi Leo,

DX4WIN does not export/import the IOTA award flags correctly. This is a BUG.
I hope Paul can fix it.

There is no reason to export/import your log after a country file update. Just
read in your old .DXL file and you will get all the changes automatically.

[Dx4win] WinKey with USB ...

2005-09-02 Thread IZ5FSA
The microKEYER is not only a keyer and it can be used by Dx4Win as a
radio control interface, CW interface, PTT interface, PSK interface and
RTTY interface.
My own Dx4Win 7.01 can do all this things using 3 different com: ports
created by the USB device router: one usb port handle 3 com: ports... I
think it's a good stuff, folks!

Isn't it?

The new microHAM CW Keyer is now shipping. I have been told
that the initial batch left Slovakia for the US yesterday.
Additional units should follow on a regular basis.

What is the microHAM CW Keyer? For full details see:
   www.microham-usa.com/Products/ck.html

In short: CW KEYER is a powerful USB CW interface/memory
keyer based on the K1EL WinKey chip and microKEYER technology.
CW Keyer provides the CW features of the original microKEYER
and a USB radio control (CAT) interface in a small, readily
portable package for those with who do not need the audio
handling of microKEYER.

CW KEYERT uses a single USB port and is directly supported by
many logging and contest programs for both radio control and
CW transmission. CW KEYER also supports a PS/2 keyboard for
keyboard sent CW and control of the memory functions or a PS/2
keypad for message control only. The keyboard or keypad function
even when CW KEYER is connected to a computer. The user can
program up to nine extra messages into CW Keyer and use the
keypad to send them as needed even if the keyer is under control
of an application program (logger, contest logger, etc.).

CW Keyer has two RCA outputs on the rear panel ... although
they are labeled CW and PTT the outputs are driven by Pin3
and Pin5 of the WinKey chip and can be used to key two different
radios if supported by the controlling application. Alternatively,
the CW and PTT outputs can be used as inputs to a traditional
switch box.

Although WinKey is not supported by DX4WIN (an unfortunate oversight),
the microHAM CW Keyer supports software CW on the DTR line which is
supported by DX4WIN.

CW Keyer is useful for radio control and as a CW output device.
The enhanced WinKey capabilities, with message memory and paddle
input, continue to function in parallel with the DX4WIN generated
CW.

Subject: [Dx4win] DXCC report which shows upload indicators AND callsigns
Message-ID: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hello all,

I ran a report DXCC Listing for All Bands and All Modes, it returns a nice
matrix overview. If I see a contact marked with a star * means it has been
submitted and accepted for DXCC, if I write this report to a comma separated
file by right clicking on the report I can than open that file into excel
and see the report.

I added auto filters to the headers of this report by selecting the top row
and select the Excel functions: Data | Filter | Auto Filter from the menu.
After that I selected the headers containing the bands and set them to
center alignment. You can now see filters added to the header, for example
select MIX and * that will hide al other entries, Show (ALL) will show all
lines again for that header, be careful if you use more than one filter at
the time.

You can now easily filter on for example show me everything with a * and it
will show the lines filtered with only a star. So far all very basic Excel
tricks. The important data which is missing now from DX4WIN is the callsign
which goes with the filtered line. If the * field also would include which
call this report becomes very valuable. In DX4WIN if you click on the star
it will jump to the actual QSL representing this star.

My request is, can the QSO information (callsign) be included to the report
so we do get the full export data. I think this would be a very powerful
report when trying to get all you cards organized for a DXCC application.

[Dx4win] DX4Win and Kachina - possible?

2004-07-25 Thread iz5fsa
I've controlled my configuration just now: I have 2 rigs controlled (FT1000
and Kachina505DSP) and both works fine, but my kachina software is installed
in the default directory. Last chance: control if the file name in radio
databases have drive and path completed: C:\path\kc505_01.dat

good luck!

Having a little trouble getting this working.
Kachina keeps poping up error messages and DX4Win then resets the radio to
none or Icom.

You must run the Kachina control program AND the dx4win... and so you can
synch radio direct to the dx spot frequency.

Yes both are running. I actually had DX4win and Kachina working 4-5 years
ago
but forgot. When I went to the Radio database I saw Kachina still in there
but a different directory.

I can see \path\kachina\kc505_01.dat and it is being updated but DX4win
doesn't seem to be seeing it.

Remeber to give dx4win's radio
preferences the rigth name of the file used from the kachina software

DX4win is set to
File | Databases | Radios | Kachina
and File Interface to
c:\pf\ham\Kachina\kc505_01.dat.

File | Preferences | Radio | KC505DSP
and com port is set to 1.
I don't understand why the com port is set to 1 as Kachina should do it's
interfacing with kc505_01.dat.

DX4Win is not using any com ports at the moment - until I get basic control.

and to
set property kachina software to be used from third party programs.

I have set the Kachina control program for
Special | Station Settings | Interface to Other Logbooks | ON

Each time I try it the Kachina pops a message saying:
KC505 Com1 Cannot control radio

that's all.

[Dx4win] Contest capabilities.

2004-05-29 Thread iz5fsa
I know the great software contest logger I've used sometimes, but I think
that the great Dx4Win capabilities of logging contest data can be improved
better than a rate sheet... Simply giving a filter option and a rule you can
calculate points, multipliers and the final score in batch mode, so only new
code must be written and no re-writing of the barebone of the program
needed.

It's only an idea... that don't want to become Dx4Win better than N1MM for
contest, but it can help more than the little feature of the present
version.

I think it will be possible.

With respect, Leo, I don't believe this is a good idea. To reach
performance equivalent to DX4WIN's in a contest environment, the program
would have to be almost totally reworked. To get an idea of what is
involved in a top-quality, multi-contest contest logger, why not try N1MM
Logger (www.n1mm.com). It is freeware, and is becoming very sophisticated
