[Dx4win] Communication between DX4WIN and IC7600 does not work

2019-06-30 Thread Mel SM0MPV
Communication between DX4WIN and my ICOM 7600 does not work.

If I would like to grab a station from the Band Map the frequency changes
accordingly in the Frequency field but after approximately 5 seconds it
changes back to the previous frequency and nothing happens on the radio.

However, information from radio to program works nicely. If I turn the VFO
frequency changes in the Frequency field accordingly. The same is true for
band and mode changes.

Both N1MM and DXlog works nicely both directions.
I need help with suggestions what to do?

[Dx4win] Fwd: Why You Should Backup Your Log - NOW!

2018-09-06 Thread Mel SM0MPV
Just  comment;

I have my log saved in Dropbox. I can open it direct from DX4WIN and as
DX4WIN remember where the log file is it will always open it from Dropbox.
Files are stored and backed up in Dropbox. Since Dropboxfiles are reachable
from the computer when it is not connected to the net, it is always
possible to use the logbook and then when connected it will be saved
online. To be 'extra' sure I save the backup files to an external HD
directly from DX4WIN. Dropbox keeps track of versions so if something goes
wrong it is possible to go back to an earlier version of the log.

Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN report for LoTW

2018-08-29 Thread Mel SM0MPV
Hello Isidor

A way to do it is to search for all contacts you have confirmed by LOTW.
Press F8 and change LoTW Confirm to Y in the QSO window.
Then you have selected all your QSOs confirmed by LOTW.
Export them by clicking File|Import/Export and select DX4WIN9 in the
Import/Export window. Click File|Export. Save the file as e.g. LoTW
Exit Import/Export window by clicking File|Exit.
Create a new logbook by clicking File|New and name it e.g. LoTW.
Then import the file you just exported by clicking File|Import/Export and
select DX4WIN9 in the Import/Export window. Click File|Import and select
the file you just exported. Click open
Now you have a new logbook with just your contacts confirmed in LoTW and
you could create a DXCC report for them.

[Dx4win] IC7600 and DX4WIN hopefully the last time

2018-08-13 Thread Mel SM0MPV
Hello again,

I think I have solved the problem, however I do not understand why.

The problem was>
When I click on a spot in the band map or in the spot window the frequency
changes accordingly in the band map and in the logging window but after 1-2
s the frequency change back to the one seen on the radio. The mode has
changed both in the logging window and on the radio. However, if I change
the frequency or the mode on the rig it changes in DX4WIN. Thus, it is only
the communication of frequency from DX4WIN to the rig that does not work.

Then I tested to use ICOM 756 Pro III as rig but changed the address from
6E to 7A, then everything worked nicely.

I compared ICOm 756 Pro III and ICOM 7600 rig-files and one of the
differences were the ADDR line stating 110 for ICOM 7560 Pro III and 122
for ICOM 7600. All other differences are listed at the very end of all
other listings below.

I changed the address to 110 in the ICOM 7600 and the default address
changed to 6E in the radio setting window in DX4WIN. If running the program
as this the connection between radio and program timed out and the
connection was disabled. Then I changed the address manually to 7A in the
radio setting window in DX4WIN. The result was a fully functional
connection between DX4WIN and the rig.

It seems like it was the presetting of ADDR=122 that made the problem. This
commadnd dit set 7A as default address in DX4WIN, but something must have
gone wrong.

I write all this in the hope that those who know programming than me should
be able to find a more proper solution.

I have got two comments from peoples that have had the same problem; one
who changed to another port to serial program and the other who used the
earlier version of Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge, i.e. v. 6.6.0.0.

As is it seems to work and I am happy with it. I have once again listed all
equipment, settings and program versions below.

Re: [Dx4win] Problem connecting a IC7600

2018-08-10 Thread Mel SM0MPV
Thanks for your suggestion Tibor.

I think something that the problem is the IC-7600 RIG file.

If I use ICOM 756 PRO III rig file and change the address to 7A Hex
everything works except if I press PSK on the radio, then the mode in the
log-window shows SSB. This is maybe how it should be if the PSK is
generated via the sound card in the rig.

I am not a programmer and can thus not compare the two RIG files.

Below I have added all the tests I have done and once again all settings
etc.

When I click on a spot in the band map or in the spot window the frequency

the communication of frequency from DX4WIN to the rig that does not work.

Everything works if I use N1MMplus or Ham Radio Delux.

I can connect to a Kenwood TS-590 with DX4WIN.

The problem remains if I connect another computer, this time with Windows
10 and 64-bit system.
N1MMplus works with IC-7600 and DX4WIN connection to the TS-590 works from
this computer.

I have changed cables and ports without success.

The remote jack (CI-V jack) has been both connected and unconnected to my
amplifier (SPE Expert 1K-FA) and it did not affect the result.

I have restarted the computer and the rig several times, but not in any
systematical way.

[Dx4win] Stil problems with my IC-7600

2018-08-06 Thread Mel SM0MPV
Hello again,

I have the following problems:
When I click on a spot either on the band plan or in the spot window. The
callsign turns up in the Callsign field in the loging window. The frequency
and the mode changes but the frequency goes back to the initial, i.e. the
one on the radio had at start while the mode changes to the one the station
I was clicking on had.

Eg. if the radio is on 14040 and cw and I click on SM0XX on 14253 DX4WIN
add SM0XX and SSB in respective field, the program also changes the
frequency to 14253 but after 2-3 seconds it changes back to 14040. When it
jump back the Follow radio box is ticked on the band map. The mode remains
on SSB.

If I turn the VFO dial on the rig the frequency changes accordingly in
DX4WIN and remains on the frequency set.

The same goes for changing mode on the rig, DX4WIN follows.

I can run my TS-590 over an USB A-B connection. I have it set up as second
radio and can start it within the program.

So my question is , why is not the frequency added in DX4WIN. What setting
have I missed?

Here are my settings. Using Windows 7 Professional
I use the Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART bridge

I have the com port set to:
Bits per second: 9600
Parity: None
Stop bits: 1
Row control: None
It is Windos 7 Professional I use

The radio settings in DX4WIN are
ICOM 7600 _K2DBK, i.e. ON4AOI except the filter.
Address: 7A
Baud Rate: 9600
COM port: COM6
Poll rate (ms): 1000
Max tries: 6
DTR high and RTS high marked

I connect the the computer and the rig via an USB A and B cable

Re: [Dx4win] Problem connecting a IC7600

2018-08-06 Thread Mel SM0MPV
Thanks David,

I have just tested your RIG file too and I got the same result as earlier.
What I see is that when I click on a spot o the band map the program
changes frequency bet then very soon goes back to the first one. The
callsign for the spoted station remains in the QSO window. When I turn the
dial on the radio the frequency changes in the band map and in the QSO
window in DX4WIN.

I use the Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART bridge

I have the com port set to:
Bits per second: 9600
Parity: None
Stop bits: 1
Row control: None
It is Windos 7 Professional I use

The radio settings in DX4WIN are
ICOM 7600 _K2DBK, i.e. ON4AOI except the filter.
Address: 7A
Baud Rate: 9600
COM port: COM6
Poll rate (ms): 1000
Max tries: 6
DTR high and RTS high marked

I connect the the computer and the rig via an USB A and B cable

The settings in the radio are:
CI-V baud rate: 9600
CI-V Address: 7Ah
CI-V Tranceive: OFF
CI-V OutPut (for ANT): OFF
USB Serial Function: CI-V

I will later connect my SPE Expert 1K-FA amplifier to the rig. Since it can
just communicate with 9600 baud so I believe I am stucked with this baud
rate. The communication goes between the remote (CI-V) jack on the rig and
the RS 232 connection on the amplifier.

[Dx4win] Problem connecting a IC7600

2018-08-04 Thread Mel SM0MPV
I have just bought an IC 7600 and have been struggling to get the
communication between the computer and the rig to work.

I us a Dell with XP professional 64 bits, DX4WIN 9.04 and have connected
the rig with an USB-cable. I have an SPE Expert 1K-FA amplifier connected
via ALC, Send and C-IV.

All baud rates are set the same 9600 in DX4WIN, the com port, the rig and
amplifier.

I have tried to use both ICOM 7600_250Hz and the ICOM 7600_500Hz

The program and rig do not match, when clicking on a spot or a spot from
the band map. It seems like it is the frequencies that do not match, mode
changes, but I have not tested this so much.

When using N1MM everything works.

Any suggestions what to do?

[Dx4win] Mode RTTYM

2017-11-13 Thread Mel SM0MPV
Hello,

Suddenly has RTTY changed to RTTYM in the list of modes.
All my old rtty contacts are listed as RTTY, however when adding a new QSO,
or since I work AFSK I change the mode after the QSO to RTTY instead of
SSB, the only RTTY mode in my list is RTTYM. RTTYM is exported to the adif
file for uploadng to various databases.

Is this as it should be? I am using DX4WIN 9.02 and a lenovo ThinkPad X230.

[Dx4win] Bug when importing from LOTW

2014-09-25 Thread Mel SM0MPV
Hello!

If stations from Russia has added their oblast in LOTW, those from
Moscow (MA) or Moscow region (MO) will in DX4WIN sometimes be added as
MA zone 5 or MO zone 4, respectively. Thus it seems like if there is
an abrevation that is the same as an US state it will be entered in
the state field and the CQ zone of that state will be added,
independent of country prefix. This has also true for one VK6 stations
(WA) and and one BY4 stations (SD).

I have attached a copy of a record from LOTW that afte import to
DX4WIN turns up as:
Perfix UA
State MO
Zone 4

It is not all imported records that have this effekt. The second
record (R3AG) did not add MA to the State field.

I am using DX4WIN 8.05 on a Lenovo Thinkpad X201 with Windows 7.

Re: [Dx4win] Info request re import log

2013-03-25 Thread Mel SM0MPV
Hi Bob,

The easiest answer is to export your current log as an ADIF file and
import the ADIF file into DX4WIN. However, it is depending on how you
would like your logbook in DX4WIN to work. If you are working from
different QTHs or if you have different callsigns you may consider
using the group feature as been suggested by Kostas in another thread
above. Then you can combined all calls and QTHs for statistics, DXCC
and other diplomas.

I suggest that you start with a small portion of your log to see how
it works and if the result is satifactory.

Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN and IOTA

2013-02-06 Thread Mel SM0MPV
Hi Alan,
You cannot upload any files for IOTA awards unless you have
participated in the IOTA contest and submitted an cabrillo file for
participating in the contest. Then you can use that file to add the
new island you worked and that have been accepted as an valid contact
in the contest to your IOTA account. This is possible first when the
logs have been checked.

The change from submitted to checked
If you go in under the report heading in the top menu of the QSO
window and click on the Award flags button you can in the Award field
select IOTA mixed and in the Action field select Submitted - Checked.
Then all contacts you have labeled with a S in the IOTA column and the
mixed field will be converted to a C for checked.

Good luck in the chasing of IOTAs

after I made my submission I have 249 IOTA's confirmed for credit. Now I
need to change the status of these 249 contacts from S to C. Is there an
easy way to do this other than change each contact individually?

Also is there an easy way to export IOTA QSO data from DX4WIN to a file to
import to the IOTA webpage submissions page? Presently I use the excel file
I generate from DX4WIN and manually type in the data for each QSO into the
 IOTA submissions page.

After my submissions are completed by RSGB IOTA I can download a .csv file
of my IOTA credits. Is there any way I can use this .csv file to import to

You can easily add the missing districts by open the awd file in the

 MA-11 NOVOMOSKOVSKY
 MA-12 TROITSKY

I tested adif2dxq briefly yesterday with the RDA contest adif file and

Re: [Dx4win] Reconciling DXCC credits with DX4WIN

2012-04-10 Thread Mel SM0MPV
Credits received before the computerization of the ARRL DXCC program turns
up as the entities prefix i.e. EP2AU worked in 1964 turns up as EP in the
list. My suggestion is that if you have contacts from this time and do not
know which one actually was used; choose one of the stations you have a QSL
card from then you can change that QSO's
DXCC award flags to match the DXCC credit shown on LoTW.as Jim suggest in
his mail. It is not the actual callsign that is compared in Jim's very
useful program.

I'm sure a couple of you have read this application note:

DXCC Award Tracking in DX4WIN
http://dx4win.ad1c.us/appnotes/dxcc.html

and maybe a few have tried this program

Compare DX4WIN DXCC Credit Status with LoTW
http://dx4win.ad1c.us/lotw/

Here's a tip about how to make DX4WIN match your ARRL DXCC records
when you have been awarded DXCC credit, but DX4WIN does not have a
 record of such.

Lot into your Logbook of the World (LoTW) account. Click on the
Awards link at the top, then Select DXCC Award Account on the left.
You will see a table showing the number of DXCC credits you have been
awarded for each award. Notice that the Award names (i.e. CW or 40M)
are hyperlinks. Click on one of those links. Next, you'll see
another window with some choices. Next to View, select the radio
button that says All credits. Then click on Select DXCC Award to
View. You will get a listing with two columns -- Entity on the
left and the DXCC award name you selected (i.e. 40M) on the right.
The callsigns in the right-hand column are all hyperlinks. By clicking
on a callsign, you will see the actual QSO data for which you received
that DXCC credit, i.e. Palau. You can use this information to
identify the matching QSO in DX4WIN, then you can change that QSO's
DXCC award flags to match the DXCC credit shown on LoTW. (i.e. set
DXCC Band flag to C[hecked]). Repeat for all all DXCC credits until
you can run the Compare DX4WIN DXCC Credit Status with LoTW program
 with no errors.

I don't know which QSO comes up for credits that your received before
the computerization of the ARRL DXCC program. However, matching ANY
confirmed QSO on the same band or mode will give you the same credit.

Hi all,
I have tried to configure RTTY and it seems to transmit. However when I try
to read the text that is sent it is printed backwards on the screen and
nothing is saved. I have not tried to use it in practise but have to ask if
I have missed any settings. When using PSK everything looks normal..

[Dx4win] Zone conflicts after importing the log from CQWW

2011-10-31 Thread Mel SM0MPV
Hi,

When importing my log from CQWW i got 23 conflicting zones reports. The are
all concerning stations within zone 4 and 5. Some might be my error but
other not, e.g. K5ZD reported zone 5 but when importing the zone was
changed to 4. Is there a way to check these?
N1MM, the contest logging program I use, did not report any zine error.
However, I do not think check routine is based on callsign and US state.
A little comment out of the topic - it was amazing conditions during this
weekends contest. I hope they remain.

[Dx4win] Application list for custom awards

2011-03-16 Thread Mel SM0MPV
Hi,

In earlier versions of DX4WIN it was possible to get a report for
custom awards that contained station call, time, date and if worked,
mailed or confirmed. This was very convenient when it was time to
apply.

Now, it is just possible create a list with acceptable award criteria
(entities) and if confirmed. Is it possible in version 8 to make a
list for custom awards where award entity, call, date, time, band and
if confirmed is shown, as it was in eaerlier versions?

[Dx4win] Checking eQSL, LoTW or QSL DXCC

2011-03-12 Thread Mel SM0MPV
Hello,

I was curious and thought I should check my eQSL status. I checked the
eQSL box and unchecked QSL card and LotW. When looking at the results
all my by ARRL checked contacts gave a checked result. The same
happened when I just checked either the LotW or the QSL card box. All
accepted contacts were marked.

Re: [Dx4win] Keep track of IOTA and Russian oblast credits

2011-01-07 Thread Mel SM0MPV
Hello Kostas HNY and thanks for your answer.

I have changed the award flags in IOTA, RDA and Russian oblast contest
to both S for submitted and C for checked and neither turns up in the
reports as submitted or checked if not the QSL flag is set to Y. I am
using DX4WIN 8.04. I tried to uncheck all boxes in Awards|Confirmation
without success. So it seems like the problem is consistent for both
IOTA and Costume awards.

It would be very good for IOTA chasing if it in the IOTA window could
bee seen if an Island group has been checked or not. As is it is just
the ones that are confirmed with QSL that are seen as C, if not the
boxes for LotW or eQSL is marked. However, the latter is of no use
since neither confirmations through LotW nor eQSL accounts for IOTA
awards.

 Hello Mel and HNY
You can change manually the flags to Checked even a qso is not confirmed.
I have not ever run the iota contest as i am in vacations or in a dxpedition
and run with other call but i have done the Russian contest many times.
Every time i get a report from them, i change manually the custom award
flags to C (checked). I am sure that i had checked this in past and i hope
still works. Pse try it and tell us if it is still ok.

Subject: [Dx4win] Keep track of IOTA and Russian oblast credits

 Hi,

I know that I am back to an old topic but since it has presently been
possible to get credits for 2010 IOTA contest by uploading the
Cabrillo log I had to bring it up again. Uploading cabrillo logs is a
way to get credits for contacts that not have been QSLed. If tagging S
or C in the award fields they will not be recognised unless these
contacts have a confirmation either from a card or LotW. It is not
possible to claim IOTA credits from contacts confirmed through LotW.
Since contacts made during the IOTA contest are accepted as credits by
RGSB without any cards, if both stations have entered their logs, it
is not possible to keep track of the IOTA award in DX4WIN.

The same problem is true for Russian oblast award, since contacts made
during RDXC could be used to claim credits.

I sincerely hope this will be changed in the next version.

[Dx4win] Confirmed or Checked

2010-08-29 Thread Mel SM0MPV
Hello,

I have just started to compile cards for IOTA award. This is one award
program where QSL may not be necessary. Island worked during IOTA
contest will account, if logs are sent in and match.

When checking these contacts submitted (S) they may not turn up as S
when examine IOTA worked but as C, M or W. It seems like QSL status
overrules award status. This means that a contact could be C and it
may either be confirmed or checked. I would prefer the award status
overrules the QSL status for those awards accepting contacts made
during contests (IOTA, RDA). It would be good if not the same letter
is used.

[Dx4win] Tracking IOTA and RDA

2010-08-29 Thread Mel SM0MPV
Hi all,

I will try to explain my self a little bit better.

If I have a QSL card and mark the contact as either submitted (S) or
checked (C) in the award box, it turns up in the listing as S or *,
respectively. However, if the contact is just confirmed via the
contest and no cards are available the program just ignores the
settings in the Award box. So a contact that I have made during the
IOTA contest and not have had a QSL-card from will turn up as W or M
if this was the only contact or if neither of the other contacts with
that island have been confirmed with a card. If I have worked another
station from this Island and got a card there will be a C for
confirmed in the listing. It seems like QSL status overrules Award
status.

This makes it difficult to track awards like IOTA and RDA where
contacts made during the contests are accepted.

[Dx4win] Asiactic Russian stations in European part = UA9

Hi,

I checked my logs and found that all (i.e. 3) Asiatic Russian station
that operated /3 or /6 in the European part of Russia (RV9FQ/6,
RA0CCV/3 and UA0QJE/3) were registered as UA9 in the log. This was
the only ones I got . When adding e.g. UA9ABC/4 it was loged as UA9.
This was also true for UA9ABC/2, so it seems to be a bug.

[Dx4win] rx frequency in note for this qso field

2010-05-02 Thread Mel SM0MPV
Greetings to you all,

When I import an ADIF file from N1MM after a contes, I always get the
frequency in it's field but also rx frequency in the note for this qso
field. Is it possible to remove this note in all QSOs in a simple maner?

Sometimes I work without the computor connected to the rig. N1MM always keep
track of the frequency and needs to have one to work. The frequency will be
imported together wit the rest of the information. Is it possible to import
QSOs from N1MM and omitt the frequency in the import?

Best regards

[Dx4win] Letter changes

2010-03-03 Thread Mel SM0MPV
Hi All,

I have a strange problem. When I write my log to file, all ö, á, ô and other
letters with signs on their top become some strange Chinese signs or
questionmark. When I export the log as ADIF and check it all signs are as
the should in the ADIF file. However, when importing it to DX4WIN and then
again write log to file the strange signs turn up.

Even more strange is that this is just true for part of the log, it works
very well with the other part.

What should I do to correct my file?
