Re: [Dx4win] Band Map
Hal, I finally had a chance to test the bandmap on 12, 10 and 6 again as you and Jim, AD1C requested. It works fine on all bands with my K3. It will move the red arrow up and down as I tune the rx. It will jump to any spot (callsign) on the band whenever I double click on that spot -- either from the DX Spots window or the bandmap window. I have been active on 6M this summer, and I frequently use the bandmap to jump from one spot to the next on that band. It essentially tracks the Radio Frequency control window that I always have open when using DX4WIN. When the frequency is read from the K3 and updated in the Radio Frequency control window, it updates the frequency by moving the red arrow on the bandmap simultaneously. But I just closed that window and the bandmap still works fine on its own. It also tracks any frequency changes that I make using any of the memories from the K3. I just noticed that when the K3 is in split mode, the bandmap tracks the VFO B frequency. When I turn split off, it immediately goes back to tracking VFO A. All of this testing was done on 10M. But it works fine on all bands. Re: [Dx4win] Band Map
It also works fine on 12, 10, and 6 meters on my 756 Pro III. I also checked when tuning below the band edge and the arrow appears to track at least a little bit below the band. One thing that I think can confuse DX4WIN is if you have CI-V Transceive turned on. That tells the rig to broadcast frequency changes, which can interfere with DX4WIN polling. 73, -Rick On Thu, Aug 1, 2013 at 2:21 PM, Dave Perry, N4QS n...@comcast.net wrote: Hal, I finally had a chance to test the bandmap on 12, 10 and 6 again as you and Jim, AD1C requested. Thanks to all for the positive reports on the bandmap. I wonder if anyone has it working or not working interfaced to a Yaesu radio? What strikes me as odd is the frequency readout in the QSO entry box is always correct as well as at the top of the bandmap. The program is reading the radio fine. Any suggestions appreciated. My recollection is that 12m and higher (i.e. 10m and 6m) don't track properly, lower frequencies are OK. [Dx4win] Band Map Not Folowing Radio - Solved
Jim, AD1C, solved this for me - the log must be in real-time mode (hit F9.) Bandmap works fine now. Paul W2LE After many years of using DX4WIN I decided to connect it to my radios. Running 8.05, radio is a K3, baud rate 38400 on a real Com1. This works fine with Writelog and Win-test. I open the band map, follow radio is checked. It initially opens on some other band than the radio is set for. If I click on a call in the bandmap the radio goes there and moving the VFO makes the red arrow move. But if I click on the log window and delete the QSO added when I first clicked on the bandmap the red arrow no longer follows the VFO. It will start working again if I click on another call in the bandmap. If I click on add QSO real time it always picks up the correct frequency. Is this how it should work or did I miss something in the setup? [Dx4win] Band Map Wish List
Having recently installed a 160m antenna here for the first time, I am starting completely new on this band. I find that I am doing a huge amount of tuning on the band, and find the DX4WIN bandmap useful for skipping over stations already worked, etc. I had waited for 8.03 to be released to see if Paul made any improvements to the band map's functionality, but it seems to be the same as in 8.02. Therefore, here are my wish list ideas for improving the band map for DXing: 1. Entering a callsign/frequency on the band map. As far as I know, the only way to get a call onto the bandmap is to spot it. The band map should be useful for those who are not connected to a cluster or who wish to enter a call without spotting it. Working a station should automatically enter that call on the band map at the logged frequency. A Ctrl or Alt key combination should take the call from the Callsign field in the main entry window and enter it in the bandmap at the current radio frequency. 2. Band map scrolling. (In this email, scrolling is meant as the way the band map is repainted when you tune off the visible part of the map.) a. Inconsistent scrolling - For whatever reason, I find that the band map does not consistently scroll, that is, I can tune off the top or bottom of the visible portion of the map, and the red arrow just disappears and the map does not repaint to bring the current frequency (red arrow) into visibility. When this happens, clicking either the + or - zoom button will recenter the frequency, and the red arrow is again visible. b. I am not particularly fond of the way the band map scrolls as you tune. What happens now is you tune the radio up in frequency, the red arrow moves down the visible map until it disappears off the bottom. (See 2.a. above for consistency issues.) Then the map repaints (or should do so) with the current frequency at the top of a new band segment. In my opinion, this could be improved by scrolling the window when the current frequency gets a certain distance away from the center of the map. This way, your current frequency is always near the center of a segment of the band, the size of the segment being set by the + and - buttons. I find the band map to be very useful, even as is, but hope that future DX4WIN releases can provide increase functionality. If I have missed some menu setting or other band map control features, please direct me to them. 73 - Dave N3RD __ Dx4win mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Dx4win@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
