[Dx4win] DX4WIN 6.03

This "sky is falling" approach doesn't help anyone. I've spent the last year
and probably over 100 hours revising the country file. I've had imputs from a
long list of people, many of whom I can't remember (see the bottom of my web
page).

My web page:

  http://www.ad1c.com/dx4win/

describes a procedure for identifying the differences. Check your QSL cards.
If there are real errors in the database, I am be more than happy to fix them.

I believe you have to be in "F9" mode (new QSO input) for the windows to
update. DX4WIN has always been this way.

I don't recall mentioning anything about gravity and its impact upon the
sky. Just stating a fact. I checked my log from my prior call sign of
WL7M, and found that the totals don't match either: 311 (6.02) vs 305
(6.03). I did indicate that I would wait for things to stabilize, and I
intend to. No barbs intended.

It seems I'm being told that the database under 6.02 was apparently
incorrect. If so, then we all may have missed working a DXCC entity
because we believed we had already worked them, according to DX4WIN?

[Dx4win] DX4WIN 6.03

2004-05-11 Thread Barry
How come after every program update, there are days upon days of
questions, problems, etc? Shouldn't an update be relatively
seamless? It should archive what is necessary and then replace what
needs to be replaced, with options along the way, if necessary. It
shouldn't create new program folders every time (does it still do
that?) Though a great program, DX4WIN is probably the most difficult
one to upgrade, requiring prayer to assure one's country totals and
preferences don't change from version to version. Guess that's why
I'm still using 4.07.

YOU Didn't mis a new DXCC due DX4WIN but if you don't understand
what JIM has been doing and don't read his explanation you never understand
it.
simple example 602 --> Franz Jozef LAND was 4K2
in version 603 it became R1F (used by ARRL now)

[Dx4win] DX4WIN 6.03

2004-05-17 Thread Lou
DX4WIM Users...

OK...I give up and need your help!

The help menu is useless for LOTW questions. There has been so much
discussion, though fragmented, on the reflector on how to do LOTW upload and
downloads that I am snowed!

1. I have uploaded all my QSO's to LOTW, pre 6.03so there is no need to
upload them again...right? But don't I need to dummy up DX4WIN 6.03 to
show this has been accomplished.

2. Then when I download LOTW into DX4WIN, does it only overwite confirmed
status on the LOTW entries?

In other words, I'm confused. As Barry W2UP mentioned, DX4WIN is a class
act...it is just the operating procedures which are not very well supported.
If it wasn't for this reflector, I would be further lost than I am now!

Can someone who had successfully Uploaded and downloaded LOTW into an
existing DX4WIN file write a concise method of procedure?...I would be
greatly appreciated.

Lou, you are not alone. It seems everyone has a different idea as to how they
want this to work.

My understanding during beta testing was that if you didn't export your QSOs
out of DX4WIN through the Labels menu, then the Upload Conf flags could never
be set. That may no longer be the case.

In my situation, I would like to set the upload date (accurately) on my QSOs
that have already been exported to LoTW, but there is currently no way to do
that - you can only get today's date. What's missing is some sort of "Multiple
QSO Operations -> Set Upload Date" function.

> 2. Then when I download LOTW into DX4WIN, does it only overwite confirmed
> status on the LOTW entries?

Yes, when you import an ADIF log, the pull-down menu has an option to only
update the "Upload Conf" flags in the log for those imported QSOs, it wil not
change the log data itself.

The other wrinkle is once you have exported QSOs, how do you export the next
batch? In my log, when I did another "set upload flags" then "export"
operation, it exported the entire log all over again! Paul explained that you
must use an F8 filter to search for "Upload Date = 01/01/1901" which will
select only those entries where the upload date is empty. Then using the
filter, you can set the Upload flags and export to LoTW, and you'll only get
the new entries.

Hope this helps. I really wish this was more straightforward.

Hi all,

I have imported my Lotw log into 6.03.
The number of DXCC increase - thats good for me!
The one of my new DXCC is the TO4WW (FR/J), which I have confirmed by Lotw,
not by QSL.

But now the
"Countries listing (Reports / DXCC / Listing / Select ALL / ALL modes, ALL
bands)"
choice of QSO works wrong.

Click to C in the FR/J line works not, no QSO is found,
because C is given by Lotw confirmation, not by QSL confirmation.

Works Your 6.03 right?

Jim,

Thanks..then I am not alone...and thanks for the info.

Without any concise information as to what/ what not to do...I'll do
nothing!

Quite honestly, I'm a bit concerned about having to dummy up my files (by
setting Upload dates to phoney numbers) to offset a DX4WIN problem

There should be an easy way to mark QSOs already uploaded...either pre 6.03
or after.and an easy way to merge LOTW confirms with your current log.
For future uploads, again there should be an easy way to upload those QSO's
not already uploaded.

Sounds easybut as of right now, I don't have any solutions...other than
"work arounds"...rather than screwing up my logs with lousy informaton, I'll
wait until I get something firm.

Paul...anything?

Lou, I believe the "powers that be" have shut up shop and have gone to the
Dayton hamfest !! I recall seeing an email stating that any comments and/or
problems will be addressed either at Dayton or when they get back.

Looks like the DX amongst us will probably have to wait for the latter. I
personally feel very disappointed that version 6.03 was released so close to
Dayton with barely enough time for critical feedback to be addressed.
However, we are still fortunate that some of the beta testers and
particularly Jim (AD1C) have smoothed out a lot of these problems.

I have almost 0.5 million QSO's logged in DX4Win and I am afraid to upgrade
from 6.02 in case another upgrade/revision is on the cards when Paul arrives
back. The thought of typing that lot in again - I would more than likely
give up the hobby !

I hope Paul gets back soon or poor Jim will be pulling his hair out !!!

Thanks All (and I mean all).

I've received several copies. Thanks for being the backup to my backup. ;)
I didn't realize there was a 6.04.

Now, if I can just get Paul to send me my key. I might be able to recover
that from my old hard drive, just not sure where to look.

[Dx4win] DX4WIN 6.03 DXCC Submission

2004-12-02 Thread ARS NZ3O (Byron) FM29fx
Has anyone found issues with the DXCC award submission?

I'm confused that it generates a listing of 1,207 QSOs, but
the summary will say it has 1,175 submitted afterwards. Any
thoughts on the "missing 32"?

It "looks" like DX4WIN is simply taking the Confirmed Total
and subtracting the Checked total to get the Submitted number,
but the QSL listing has more. Any ideas why?

I'm sure I'm being dumb or tired, but I don't get it.

73, Byron

PS. And if anyone knows an easy way to get the details of
your LOTW QSLs printed for cross-checking, I'd love to hear
about that.

This single QSO is used for 10M AND for SSB

There should be additional entries in your submission that are
used twice or three times like the one above.

Hope this explains the difference,

[Dx4win] DX4WIN 6.03 DXCC Submission

2004-12-06 Thread ARS NZ3O (Byron) FM29fx
Paul:

I don't understand, and I apologize. If I have one QSO
that qualifies me for a new DXCC SSB and a new DXCC
for 17m, I think it will only output one QSO for submission.

All QSOs are output as band/mode contacts.

Otherwise, what would the DXCC SSB QSO be output as?

[Dx4win] DX4WIN 6.03 Packet Spotting

2004-05-19 Thread J. F. Samuels
I don't remember if anyone answered your query.

Ideally, the user could assign the priority so that if they were more
interested in band/mode combinations, that could be a lower number than,
say, a mode unconfirmed.

But, since it isn't that way, I have chosen to pay attention to the colors,
over which I have control. Yellow reverse is highest priority followed by
red and it's combinations for mode, blue and its combinations for band, and
green for the band/mode combinations. Black and gray I ignore.

So I never pay attention to the numbers, just the colors and it works OK for
me.

[Dx4win] DX4WIN 6.03 Filter - Date+Time

2004-05-15 Thread ARS NZ3O (Byron) FM29fx
I was trying to EXPORT for LOTW last evening. My previous
upload included half the QSOs on a given date, so I attempted
to filter on date and time.

When I used time (03:00Z) with the date, I filtered all but 12 QSOs.
When I used date (the exact same one) I got 669 QSOs. And I
hadn't worked 657 QSOs in the first three hours that day.

Thoughts?

Tried the 01/01/1901 - the filter selects all 58,000+ QSOs. But the SET
UPLOAD FLAG still only sets 257 of them.

Lou, you are not alone. It seems everyone has a different idea as to how
they
want this to work.

 > 1. I have uploaded all my QSO's to LOTW, pre 6.03so there is no need
to

My understanding during beta testing was that if you didn't export your QSOs
out of DX4WIN through the Labels menu, then the Upload Conf flags could
never
be set. That may no longer be the case.

In my situation, I would like to set the upload date (accurately) on my QSOs
that have already been exported to LoTW, but there is currently no way to do
that - you can only get today's date. What's missing is some sort of
"Multiple
QSO Operations -> Set Upload Date" function.

 > 2. Then when I download LOTW into DX4WIN, does it only overwite confirmed
 > status on the LOTW entries?

Yes, when you import an ADIF log, the pull-down menu has an option to only
update the "Upload Conf" flags in the log for those imported QSOs, it wil
not
change the log data itself.

The other wrinkle is once you have exported QSOs, how do you export the next
batch? In my log, when I did another "set upload flags" then "export"
operation, it exported the entire log all over again! Paul explained that
you
must use an F8 filter to search for "Upload Date = 01/01/1901" which will
select only those entries where the upload date is empty. Then using the
filter, you can set the Upload flags and export to LoTW, and you'll only get
the new entries.

Hope this helps. I really wish this was more straightforward.

[Dx4win] DX4WIN 6.03 Countries listing problem

2004-05-17 Thread Cliff Ahrens
Milan, I've got the same problem here. LoTW gave me two new band/countries
for the DXCC Challenge not confirmed by paper cards. The "Reports / DXCC /
Listing / Select ALL / ALL modes, ALL" doesn't show a "C" for them, although
the "Upl Cnf" flag in the QSO window is "Y".

It would be nice to have the LoTW confirmations show up in the Listings as
well. Hopefully Paul can add this to the next release.

[Dx4win] DX4WIN 6.03 Countries listing problem

2004-05-17 Thread Cliff Ahrens
Yes, my preference under QSO tab, confirmed QSO's is set to "card or
upload", and I'm still not seeing any "C" in the DXCC Listing for cards
confirmed only by LoTW. The good news is that when I run a DXCC submission,
those cards confirmed only by LoTW do show up. So for me it's not a major
issue, but worthy of Paul taking a look the next time he works on a
revision.

In addition to Jim's kind comments about Paul, the other thing worthy of
note is that there was no charge for this revision, even though it included
some needed LoTW programming. That's refreshing, and typical of the way
Paul has treated us customers over the years! Thanks Paul.

[Dx4win] DX4WIN 6.03 Remote telnet Permission

2004-05-31 Thread ARS NZ3O (Byron) FM29fx
Not surprising if you provide remote access permission
by individual software package. DX4WIN 6.03 isn't the
same executable that 6.02 was, so you need to give
permission again.

[Dx4win] DX4WIN 6.03 + Packet / Assigning Multiple Groups

2004-12-05 Thread PA2R via Muurkrant
Band stored when logging a QSO:
I recently upgraded to version 6.03 and when logging a QSO without having a
CAT system connected but only a telnet cluster it stores the band info of
the last DX cluster spot instead of the band I selected. Previous version is
worked fine. If I connect the CAT system it works fine but that should not
be necessary I guess.

Assigning Groups:
In the past I never used groups for the different call signs I have used.
When I go to the Multiple QSO Operations I select a date range, double click
on one of the callsigns, it get a cross in front of it, when I click Update
I expect that all QSO records within that range will be updated, nothing
happen. The only global option which works if I change it for all QSO
records. Any idea? Or is it a bug?

Any help is appreciated,
