[e-gold-list] Paypal vs e-gold: Similar services?

2003-01-16 Thread Annelie
Hallo

I'm in the process of setting up my (first) online business website
following steps from videos I bought. The only problem is that these
videos show me how to set up the Paypal service, and my country is not
(yet) listed in the International Paypal setup. In an e-mail Paypal
confirmed that I cannot use their services to receive payments from
customers since Paypal is not available in South Africa.

I'm new to the whole concept of e-businesses, and I'm not sure if it such
a good idea to use e-gold in the place of Paypal. Is doing business online
more difficult with e-gold than Paypal? Are there reliable, similar
international services such as Paypal and e-gold?

Can anyone perhaps advise me on what to do?

Thanks.

I think you'll be happy using e-gold, and it won't be any more difficult
than setting up Paypal.

Here's a starting point:

http://e-gold.com/unsecure/sci_home.html

If you go there and click the Shopping Cart Interface link you'll see
some useful information. On the left side they actually have a working
Click to Spend Now button to demonstrate how it's done.

Right below that, they show you the html code you need to put on your web
page. You can just copy and paste that right in and just change the stuff
that's shown in red:

- your account number
- your company name
- your email address
- what web page to show when a payment is successful
- what web page to show when a payment is not successful
- what to put in the memo field on the payment screen (you can put an order
number, a thank you, or whatever)

That's it really. Oh sure, you can get really fancy and do the fully
automatic stuff shown on the right, but you probably don't need to.

Let us know if you have any questions. I'm sure a lot of us will be happy
to chime in with any answers you need.

[e-gold-list] DGC ATM Terminals

2003-01-16 Thread info
Dear List,

Can anyone here recommend to us some suppliers of touch screen computer
terminals that can be used on the counters of walk-in/retail businesses
with internet connection capability. We need a solution that would allow
us to install our own software.

Thanks.

[e-gold-list] RE: [dgc.chat] Loyal Bank

2003-01-16 Thread info
FIDEX: The St Vincent government actually use Loyal as an example to their
other banks as the way to ensure sound management and due diligence
policies.

RE: May I ask how you came up with this statement?

FIDEX: But I think Loyal Bank has the opposite concern, that Hungarian
regulators and the advent of EU membership might make it difficult to
operate from there in the future. So I know they are slowly but surely
moving more and more of their operations physically to St Vincent.

RE: Currently, the government here is restructuring the offshore sector
and in so doing no new entities are allowed. I don't know how adversely
this action will affect Loyal Bank, but what I do know is that a lot of
Banking Licenses have been revoked.

To move a bit off topic I would like to encourage foreign businesses to
come to St Vincent. There are many benefits to be derived from setting up
here. For more information about our little paradise please visit
www.svgtourism.com

And if you do come send me an email, so I can be your tour guide:-)

2003-01-16 Thread Robert S.Z.
Hello there,

In my experience e-gold is rather reliable. However, you'd be limiting
your market potential if you 'only' accept payments in that way.
By the same token, have a look at www.paypalwarning.com; I tend to believe
everything you'll read there, because it happened to us as well.

Of course, there are also several other ways to sell your goods. Ebay
comes to mind. And there are several other e-currency providers, albeit we
have only ever dealt with e-gold and hence I can't recommend any of the
others specifically.

Further [*sales plug warning*], you might want to have a look at
www.cyfrocash.com
We can help you to actually accept payments from the US, Europe, Southeast
Asia and Australia in a variety of ways, ranging from personla cheques to
bank deposits and money orders as well as, in some cases, credit cards
[tangible goods and established customers, only].
[*end sales plug*]

Oh, and you might want to have a look at www.2checkout.com for accepting
credit cards through them.
I'm not sure if they accept clients from South Africa, though.

Of course, if your budget permits it, you could incorporate a company in
the US and get a bank account for that company and customers could then
pay to that account. Doesn't cost the world and adds a 'trust the locals'
factor if you expect that the US will be a large market for your products.

That's all I can think of right now.
Good Luck,
Robert.
