[e-gold-list] Re: Charlotte's Story
Thank JPM Much appreciated, unfortunately it seems you and the e-gold staff are the only ones so far able to donate, I was hoping to be able to ring Charlottes parents this morning and tell them to book her ticket to the USA, but alas it looks like there is a fair way to go yet :-) However we have topped the $100 mark in only 24 hours so I suppose it's a good start So please listees, donate as much as you can, this little girl needs your help, even just $1.00 from each list member would be great, $2.00 would be fantastic and $5.00 would be absolutely wonderful!!! http://www.altimaweb.com/charlotte Kind Regards Geoff I spent $20 to the cause! Anyone who doesn't donate IS A BASTARD!!! [EMAIL PROTECTED] --- You are currently subscribed to e-gold-list as: archive@jab.org To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

How do we know that this is for real? I am not sure that this could not be the oldest hoax on the web: give for a good cause. [e-gold-list] Re: Charlotte's Story
If it's for real, we've helped by our donation, if it is a hoax, maybe they need it more than I do. No worries. I trust in God and the universe to make things right. Either way, what goes around, comes around. Another way to look at it is this: If it's genuine and I give, I've helped. If it's genuine and I don't give, I could have helped and I've denied myself a chance to give a pittance to help another, and denied that person something needed. If it's a hoax and I give, I've been scammed. If it's a hoax and I don't give, I don't know if I could have helped or could have been scammed. In the balance, I'd rather take a chance that my small donation is helping Charlotte. [e-gold-list] Re: Charlotte's Story
(This post, ESPECIALLY! is my personal opinion, and could be very wrong, of course.) I trust Geoff. He came to the system with a cool site having to do with Volkswagons instead of scams, and he has previously been both fast and honest in shipping items across the ocean. I'm sure that a crook *could* use a story like Charlotte's to nail me for a little bit of gold, but all of the signs point to Geoff as a nice guy who is honest and who uses e-gold for the right reasons. This brings to mind another question, though. How could anyone prove that Charlotte's site, or that soup-kitchen/ministry, aren't scams? It's somewhere between hard and impossible to prove a negative. My hope is that reputation in the community is valued over the grams that could be obtained through a quick scheme. IMO, YMMV, I could be wrong (frequently I AM wrong!) etc. etc. JMR --- You are currently subscribed to e-gold-list as: archive@jab.org To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Thanks for the honorable mention. I had a clever reply prepared but I accidentally deleted it and I'm not doing it over because I have been taking the receptionist's place all afternoon at Loaves and Fishes and I'm tired of answering questions. She's at her son's graduation from Navy swimmer rescue school or something like that. Basically we are a real soup kitchen, well known in the area, a member of the Pensacola Chamber of Commerce, have a Judge and two Reverands on the Board of Directors. We work with the School Dept. and other area agencies. We are also well known as one of the better soup kitchens in the country among the homeless underground if that counts for anything. The Navy doesn't have a problem sending us donations neither do countless area grocers, delis, lawyers, little old ladies etc. Believe it or not we got a 600 pound blue marlin from The Pensacola Billfish Tournament a couple of years ago. They're illegal to sell you know. I'm not much of an arm twister never mind a scam artist so if you think you gold is better off in your possession by all means keep it. Otherwise we will gladly accept your donations of whatever flavor at www.loavesandfishessoupkitchen.com . Still, are we really there or is this just a bunch of claptrap? In my haste I neglected to thank those of you who put aside your reservations about what's real what's not and sent Loaves Fishes some of your hard earned sweat. It will be put to good use. Sounds like a very good cause, Geoff, and she's a cute little kid. You might also wish to post an appeal to: http://www.free-market.net/forums/e-gold0009/ which is the new free-market.net e-gold forum (the old ones are archived, but full). Thanks.
